…?

Can you people come up with something better? Is the Asia-server “main stage” no longer enough for you to make up stories?

3L

Please leave yux alone.

He’s not even playing matches anymore, what more do you want…

…

18L

Uh, I have to say it though, the OP’s been done dirty here. This account really is yux’s personal account, he used it during the 2023 Worlds training.

【Image】

And he already changed this ID a few days ago (ps: this was posted by one of yux’s big fans), but his match history was set to private until yesterday. This afternoon it was suddenly opened, and only then did everyone see he’d been duo-queuing with AngelYi all afternoon.

19L

…??

For real? Xiao You God???

20L

It genuinely feels real, and it’s the 2v2v2 mode too.

Forget it, OP, stop posting. In a bit yux fans are going to say it’s “just entertainment-mode training,” as if yux’s hands don’t belong to him.

……

146L

Am I the only one wondering why they’re playing on the EU server?

147L

We don’t know about yux, but it seems AngelYi really isn’t home.

148L

You can tell AngelYi isn’t home?

149L

It was posted by AngelYi’s “stalker fans”.. 【Image】【Image】 Says he hasn’t been seen going out for days, and no food deliveries have been arriving, so he’s probably not home.

150L

The hell, he even has stalker fans? That’s gross.

151L

I’m neutral on this streamer, but stalker fans are way too disgusting… can someone call the police?

……

177L

Can people in this thread stop quoting out of context? A big fan posted days ago that yux’s account was hacked and he wasn’t using it at all. The name was clearly changed by the hacker.

Just because you want to ship a CP, you’ve thrown away all shame. You really think everyone’s as obsessed with “fanservice baiting” as your streamer?

178L

Wow, CP fans really are omnipotent, huh. They can even hack a pro’s account, and after hacking it they specially hacked AngelYi’s EU account too just to make them duo, CP fans carry everything ^ ^

179L

No, I’m genuinely curious this time, what is this, real or fake? Didn’t some insider fan account say a few days ago they had a grudge? Didn’t AngelYi even post an apology statement?

180L

It’s fake as hell, how many times do I have to say it’s account hacking.

If it’s real I’ll livestream eating a keyboard, okay?

Nan Zhiyi decided to head back on the tenth day after arriving in M City.

The reason was that the pet boarding facility sent him a video showing his bird screeching loudly and pacing back and forth on its perch.

【Daodao’s dad, Daodao seems to have separation anxiety. If possible, it’d be best if you could come pick it up as soon as you can.】

Nan Zhiyi wasn’t Daodao’s first owner. When he adopted it, it hadn’t been so clingy yet. For some reason, after coming to his home, it had suddenly become unable to be apart from people.

Being apart for three or four days now and then was fine, but a ten-day separation was already too much for a bird to bear.

Nan Zhiyi didn’t hesitate and immediately booked a flight for that night.

When You Xin came home in the evening and learned of it, he had no strong reaction, only asking, “Did you have fun these past few days?”

“I did, thank you for letting me stay.” Nan Zhiyi had completely shed the awkwardness from when they first reunited. “What about you? When are you planning to head back?”

The All-Star match was next Friday. You Xin thought for a moment. “Next week.”

“Oh, um… then… should I treat you to a meal then? Is that okay?” Nan Zhiyi asked cautiously.

“Sure.” You Xin agreed readily, seeming entirely unbothered.

But then he switched topics. “How do I reach you?”

Nan Zhiyi: “……”

Only then did he remember the two of them still hadn’t re-added each other on WeChat.

You Xin handed over his QR code.

His profile picture was a close-up of Kenken’s face, the puppy sticking out its tongue and grinning foolishly at the camera. In a feed full of players’ standard “dark, moody anime-boy avatars,” it looked completely out of place. His nickname was his own pro ID: “yux.”

Before accepting the friend request, Nan Zhiyi quickly cleaned up his Moments, setting all his bird photos to visible-to-self-only, which took him a full twenty minutes.

Song Meng drove over to pick him up. You Xin saw him off to the door, ignored his polite refusals, and carried his suitcase outside.

“See you next week,” he said as the trunk closed with a “bang.”

“Mm, bye.”

Nan Zhiyi got into the passenger seat and buckled up.

The car drove off a short way. He secretly glanced at the rearview mirror and saw You Xin still standing at the door.

To this day, Nan Zhiyi still felt his “trip to relax” was almost dreamlike: after three straight months of bad luck, he’d actually, miraculously, made up with You Xin.

It felt like all the luck he’d saved up over months had been spent on this one thing.

Now… they counted as friends, right? Nan Zhiyi thought vaguely.

“Can’t bear to leave?” the driver, Song Meng, suddenly asked from the side.

“Ah… huh??”

Nan Zhiyi snapped back to reality, startled.

For no reason at all, he suddenly felt guilty. “Brother Meng, w-what did you just say?”

Song Meng burst out laughing, as if amused by his reaction.

“Hey, don’t mind me,” he said. “Actually our whole team, the 2023 CG team, I mean, all know little You had a really unforgettable first love, and that they broke up later. We just didn’t expect his first love to be you.”

“What? I…”

Nan Zhiyi went a bit dazed.

After a while, he squeezed out a dry sentence. “How do you know that?”

…He really didn’t expect Song Meng to be the first person around him to figure it out.

“I guessed it.” Song Meng laughed loudly. “If you know the background, it’s actually pretty easy to guess?”

Nan Zhiyi was extremely embarrassed. “Then why’d you say everyone on the team knows…”

“Hm? Xiao You said that part himself. Once at a team dinner he seemed to have had a bit too much to drink.” Song Meng said. “Of course, he didn’t say it was a boyfriend, relax, I won’t tell anyone.”

He looked unusually at ease accepting the situation. “Get some sleep. I’ll wake you when we arrive.”

Nan Zhiyi rested his head against the window. Lights flickered past, and he stared at his own reflection in the glass.

You Xin had told everyone on the CG team he had an “unforgettable first love”?

Was that really what he thought?

Nan Zhiyi recalled what he’d once said to Song Baiyu, “I was immature back then, it was too childish.”

…He suddenly felt a bit like the infamous “scumbag.”

On the return flight, Nan Zhiyi couldn’t fall asleep at all. In the end he simply took out his laptop and started editing the footage he’d recorded two days earlier.

He rarely edited videos himself anymore. Sister Li had hired a professional editor for him, a three-person team, one main planner and two assistants, whose efficiency far outstripped his own.

A video under twenty minutes took a full eight hours to edit. By the time he got off the plane, Nan Zhiyi was already yawning nonstop.

He collected his luggage, stepped aside, opened WeChat, and paused with his thumb hovering over the topmost dog avatar, lost in thought for a moment.

Their chat history stopped more than ten hours ago, at the cat sticker You Xin had sent right after they added each other.

That sticker was from a game screenshot, the very one that had gone viral last time they got matched together, the one people joked was an expression “yux would never use in his life.”

Nan Zhiyi pulled his thoughts back.

He typed: 【The new video’s edited. When do you think is a good time to post it?】

The other side replied almost instantly.

【yux: Anytime’s fine O.O】

After leaving the airport, Nan Zhiyi went straight to the pet boarding place, picked up the bird, then headed home.

By the time he arrived, it was already past eight in the evening.

The moment he stepped in, he found the living room pitch dark, but there was a dim light source on the sofa.

Qiu Cheng hadn’t turned on the lights. He was lying on the sofa scrolling his phone. Hearing the noise, he immediately sat up in one motion.

At first his expression was a little blank. Then he recognized who it was, his face twitched strangely for a moment, and he quickly forced out a smile.

“Xiao Yi? You’re back?”

Nan Zhiyi gave a soft “mm,” saying little.

Qiu Cheng scratched his head and tried to start a conversation. “Uh, perfect timing actually, I was just talking with them, I’m planning to put a team together for the Superstar Cup. We’re still short on people. You in? It’s in April, about a month-long schedule.”

The Superstar Cup was a streamer tournament jointly hosted by Stars and other platforms, held every year. The champions and runners-up would then qualify for the Challenger Cup in May, where they could play alongside pro players from Tier 1 and Tier 2 league teams.

Nan Zhiyi didn’t respond. He walked upstairs in the dark and put the birdcage back in its room.

His cold attitude was too obvious. Qiu Cheng probably sensed something and followed him upstairs.

“Xiao Yi, are you mad? Tangyuan said he clicked wrong by accident and kicked you out of the group. He already invited you back, but you didn’t accept. You didn’t reply to his messages either.”

“Sounds like he was really careless.”

That was the first thing Nan Zhiyi said all night.

Hearing it, Qiu Cheng actually laughed. “You’re really mad? That petty? I thought you wouldn’t get angry over something this small—”

“Qiu Cheng.”

Nan Zhiyi called his full name.

His tone was very serious, without a hint of joking. “Why have you become like this now?”

Qiu Cheng froze for a moment.

“What do you mean I’ve become—”

“You weren’t like this before.” Nan Zhiyi squeezed past him, went out the door, and headed downstairs to get his luggage. “Don’t you remember? When you first made your account, you said you wanted to make Priest teaching content. You told me you wanted others to praise you as the Asia server’s number-one Priest. At the start you made over thirty videos and nobody watched them, but you still kept going.”

Qiu Cheng was completely lost. “That was how many years ago… why bring that up all of a sudden?”

Nan Zhiyi stopped walking. In the darkness, he turned back around.

“You’re not even close with yux. There’s no conflict between you two at all, so why did you go on stream with those people and say things like that?”

“I…” Qiu Cheng stuttered. He still tried to explain first. “Xiao Yi, do you not know? You Xin offended CG’s boss. They’ve already said he won’t survive in this circle. Didn’t you see wind and beer’s attitude? wind said his character’s bad and no one on the team likes him—”

“So you just couldn’t wait to ride his hate-traffic?”

Nan Zhiyi said softly.

Qiu Cheng was already starting to look angry. “What do you mean I’m riding his—”

“You have ten million followers. Everything you say gets followed and copied by your fans. One sentence is just a sentence to you, but to your fans it can set off a storm.”

Nan Zhiyi paused briefly.

“But Qiu Cheng, have you ever thought about it? With that many followers, shouldn’t you carry a certain responsibility? You’re a role model to your fans. Whether you actually like or dislike yux, whoever he offended in the end, do you really think it’s right to kick him while he’s down just to pull traffic?”

“That wasn’t even something I said! Tangyuan’s the one who called him a roadside nobody, what the hell does it have to do with me!!”

Qiu Cheng slammed a hand against the wall, clearly losing his temper completely.

Nan Zhiyi stayed very calm.

“You were streaming. Not refuting it is the same as agreeing with it.”

“Right! Right! If I didn’t refute it, then I agreed with it!” Qiu Cheng shouted at him. “Right! I’m not as noble as you! I, Qiu Cheng, just live off yux’s hate-traffic for views!!”

“You think I’m like you? Casually show your face and tons of fans flock to support you? And you’ve even got a decent diploma, so even if you quit streaming you can still find a good job? I only went to a vocational high school, without traffic I can’t even afford to eat. In the future I’ll just end up in a factory tightening screws! When you stand up high and mighty criticizing me, have you ever, for even one second, looked at things from my side?”

Standing in the darkness, Nan Zhiyi watched Qiu Cheng explode in front of him. In that moment, he suddenly felt deeply disappointed.

“You’ve said all that, and you still don’t get it. This isn’t a reason to hurt others.”

Leaving those words behind, Nan Zhiyi picked up his luggage and went back to his room.

“We’ve known each other over ten years. You and that yux only hung out for a few days in high school, didn’t you?” Qiu Cheng shouted after him. “And for someone like that, you talk to me like this, Nan Zhiyi, have you ever once actually treated me as a friend?”

Qiu Cheng and Nan Zhiyi fell into a cold war. In the days that followed, neither said a single word to the other.

Day by day the time passed, until February 14th, the opening day of the All-Star tournament, finally arrived.

The event ran a total of three days. The first day was the opening ceremony, the awards ceremony, and exhibition matches. The following days held team competitions, solo matches, and other formats.

You Xin was originally scheduled to arrive in S City a day early. Nan Zhiyi had planned to treat him to a meal to thank him for letting him stay, but a flight delay meant he didn’t land until 1 a.m. on the 14th, so he had to cancel the restaurant reservation he’d made.

This year’s All-Star event drew far more attention than any previous edition.

The main reason was that “yux, vanished for three months, would finally appear in public,” and that all CG members except the newly-promoted xww would attend as guests.

On top of that, the “yux and AngelYi teammate pairing” had quietly stoked tension between both fanbases.

Before the competition even began, the air outside the venue was already thick with gunpowder.

But earlier that day, the release of a single video instantly ignited the already-tense pre-match atmosphere.
