Zora wiped the tear that had dropped from her right eye.

A knock came at the window of the car.

She tilted her head only to see a woman gesturing her to come out.Full novel: Strong holds — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Zora opened the door only to find out that they were at Alistair’s place.

Mrs Stella, the middle aged woman she had met the first time she was brought by Alistair, stood in front of her with a bright smile.

“We meet again, madam.”

Mrs Stella said to Zora.

Zora wanted to smile back but she couldn’t, so she only nodded.

Zora’s eyes looked around to see if she would spot those men she had seen before, and indeed she did.

‘It seems the men have grown in numbers.’

She thought.

Zora walked inside the house with Mrs Stella leading the way.

Mrs Stella took her to a room but it was different from the one she had been in when she was brought by Alistair the first time.

This room was bigger and everything in it was burgundy with a touch of red.

Zora’s eyes looked around.

It was quite pretty.

Her eyes went to the vanity where all kinds of perfumes and makeup were displayed.

He must have prepared for her coming.

She walked closer to the vanity and picked up a bottle.

It had no name.

She took it closer to her nose and when the scent engulfed her senses she brought it down.

She hesitated before taking it closer again.

The scent was so familiar, like one she had used years ago.

While she was still trying to process it a knock came at the door and then it opened.

It was Mrs Stella, walking in with a bowl of water, a towel and ointment.

Zora kept the perfume bottle back on the vanity. Follow the newest chapters on g.com.

“Mrs Stella, what are those for?”

She asked as she walked toward Mrs Stella to help carry the bowl of water.

But Mrs Stella refused to let her touch it.

She gestured for Zora to sit on the couch closer to the bed.

Zora sat.

“I saw how swollen and red your left cheek was.”

Zora had totally forgotten about her cheek.

Her hand went to her left cheek.

Mrs Stella took the towel and dipped it into the bowl of cold water, then pressed it gently against Zora’s cheek.

“Girls should always protect their face.”

Zora’s eyes lingered on Mrs Stella.

Her eyes became watery but she stopped the tears before they could fall.

When Mrs Stella was done applying the ointment she left the room.

Zora’s phone buzzed.

It was a message from Kiara.

“Zora there’s something I wanted us to talk about, but you were busy when I came to the hospital with Shona.”

“So can we talk about it tomorrow?”

That was when Zora’s eyes went to the time.

It was past one in the morning.

In a large study sat Alistair, in front of him was a table filled with photos of men and women he planned on visiting, each marked with red.

“Why hasn’t this idiot paid back what he owed?”

Kane’s gaze fell on the photo.

“He claimed that his men were caught by the police.”

The corner of Alistair’s lips raised to form a smirk.

“What an excuse.

Since he has decided to play smart, let’s teach him how it’s done.”

“Boss, there’s something I forgot to tell you.”

Alistair looked up from the table.

“What?”

“The young lady…”

Alistair sat up straight.

“What about her?”

“We were able to get track of her, she’d be in Pink country this week.”

Alistair watched Kane closely.

“There’s a problem isn’t it?”

Kane nodded.

“There are about four of them, and we can’t tell which is the actual one.”

Alistair banged his hand on the table causing most of the things on it to fall.

“How could that be possible!

There’s absolutely no way all four could have the same identity.”

Kane looked down at his feet, and couldn’t meet Alistair’s face, the impossibilities they had ruled out was now very possible.

Alistair leaned back on his seat.

“What about what I asked you to find out?”

Kane placed another file on the table, Zora’s picture was placed in it.

“We weren’t able to find any other thing apart from her being an exchange student before her auntie got sick.”

Kane finally looked at Alistair.

“But sir what if it was just a coincidence that you happened to have gotten an erection that very day?”

Alistair’s eyes were still fixed on Zora’s picture.

If it were a coincidence he would know as time goes by.

“Just make sure she doesn’t get her way.”

Kane nodded.
