He was about to drive out after observing that the skills of the cats were nothing compared to the old cats.

It seemed like these new cats were in training, their skills were childish.

But then he saw one of them pointing a gun at a lady who came out of the greenhouse.Full novel: Strong holds — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Without thinking, he shoved her into his car and shot the boy.

The boy got an injury on his hand and would probably never be able to make use of that hand again.

Alistair turned to the lady he had pulled into his car, the vein on his neck bulging.

“Are you crazy?!!”

But the lady’s face was covered with her hair, and her head was bent slightly.

He had no time to waste on her, so he drove out of the banquet venue.

“Sir, we’ve taken the Ming family to safety.”

Alistair asked.

“What about the cats?”

“They disappeared after they realized that the Ming family was in our custody.”

Alistair smirked.

“Bloody cats.”

After driving miles away from the venue, he then remembered the lady he had dragged into his car.

She hadn’t moved ever since.

‘Was she dead?’ He thought.

He pulled over, checked her pulse and confirmed that she was still alive.

He got out of his car and opened the passenger seat next to the driver’s seat.

He was about to yank her out, but then her hair which was covering her face finally gave way for him to see her face clearly.

His heart skipped when he saw the face, then suddenly he clenched his fist as his jaw tightened.

Why was she everywhere, looking at her closed eyes, he noticed her brows slightly twisted, his eyes gradually went down to her plump red lips, he looked away immediately.

He then looked at her again, the vein on his neck which had bulged out earlier finally settled, he went back to the driver’s seat without saying a word.

He started the car and called Doctor Patrick, his personal doctor, to let him know he was on his way.

When he got to the hospital he carried Zora from the passenger seat into the hospital through a private entrance meant for only him.

When Doctor Patrick saw Alistair carrying Zora, for three full seconds he just stood there.

Then it hit him all at once, he closed his eyes and opened them to be sure he saw right.

Alistair was carrying a woman?

Alistair noticed Doctor Patrick just standing and staring, he glared at him, and that was when Doctor Patrick came to his senses and followed him inside the private VIP room.

Alistair didn’t stay long, he left almost immediately after placing Zora on the hospital bed, but not before ordering Doctor Patrick to properly diagnose her.

He got into his car and drove out of the hospital.

In a small lobby sat Mr. This chapter is updated first at g.com.

Ming and Alistair.

“You knew they would come, yet you said nothing.”

A smug smile appeared on Alistair’s lips.

“How can you accuse me of that?

I told you I was attacked, that was enough of a hint.”

Mr.

Ming spoke through tight jaws.

“Those bastards!

All they know how to do is attack the innocent.

Useless!”

The word innocent made Alistair think about the moment one of the cats was about to shoot Zora.

He suddenly wished he had killed him.

“They were in training, they have poor gun skills.”

“You should give me the keys now while it is still early, or things might escalate.”

Mr.

Ming’s voice softened with hesitation.

“You do not know the gravity of what you are asking for…”

He paused, his shoulders fell slightly, then he continued.

“The bloodshed is something I do not want.”

Alistair slammed the table in front of him, his voice coming out sharper than he intended.

“What bloodshed!

The innocent lives you keep worrying about will keep adding up if you do not give me the keys…”

His voice lowered.

“And do not be surprised if your family ends up among them.”

Mr.

Ming’s body went rigid.

The lobby went quiet for ten seconds.

He hesitated before making a call.

“Bring the keys.”

Ming’s assistant walked in with a small box, placed it on the table and walked out.

Mr.

Ming picked up the box.

It was a mechanical box fitted with a password panel and a fingerprint sensor.

He opened it and brought out a round metallic ball.

When Alistair saw it he recognized it immediately.

The metallic ball was the key to the weapon room.

The Ming family were known to be good at making guns and advanced technology.

The metallic ball was one of them, the ball was to be used only for the weapon room, it was a unique key that only the main branch of the Ming family knew how it was made.

When brought close to the lock of the weapon room, it automatically activated and created layers of round long rings that fitted into the lock and opened the metal door.

Alistair smiled in satisfaction when Mr.

Ming handed the key to him after some hesitation.

Then Mr.

Ming said to Alistair, “Whatever you do, the innocent should come first.

I know the dragons are shady, but not to the point of killing the innocent for fun…”

He walked towards the door of the lobby and continued.

“This is now your business, all I ask of you is that the Ming family be protected.”

Alistair did not reply to him, but he understood that Alistair would not get his family involved, while also not assuring him that things would not escalate to the point that the Ming family would be involved.

Mr.

Ming walked out of the lobby.

Alistair looked at the metallic ball for a few seconds before making a call.

“Fred, what is it like on your end?”

The voice on the other end spoke.

“You are still alive my long time friend, I sent you the signal you asked for, so you should know things are going well here.

It seems you got the keys?”

Alistair smirked while looking at the keys in his hand.

“You must have lost your manners after spending so many years in Brown Country.

You should return soon

and get your knives sharp.”

“It’s blood for blood.”
