When he ended the call with Fred, he decided to go back to the hospital.
When he got there, Doctor Patrick had just finished examining Zora, so he asked him.
“What about the results?”
Doctor Patrick asked a nurse to bring the file of the results.
When the nurse brought them she was asked to leave.
So it was just Doctor Patrick, Alistair, and Zora who was still unconscious.
“It’s the same as the last time, she does suffer from malnutrition and it has gotten worse also…”
Doctor Patrick hesitated for a few seconds.
“She… the last time I checked her I saw that she had some signs of being pregnant, so this time I checked her again the results show that she’s two weeks pregnant.”
Alistair smirked, his mind went back to the night he was drugged.
Zora’s face appeared in his memory, and then disappeared.
The timing matched exactly to the night he got drugged.
He wasn’t particularly interested in having a child.
He then looked at Zora who was still on the bed with her eyes closed.
‘She ain’t worth having my child.’ He thought.
He was about to say something to Doctor Patrick, but before he could Doctor Patrick spoke first.
“I know it doesn’t concern you, but I still have to tell you…”
He paused to look at Zora to be sure she was not awake, then he continued, his voice lower as if he was trying to whisper.
“I’m afraid that she can’t keep the child.”
Alistair became curious.
“Why?”
Patrick showed him another file.
“Firstly she’s just twenty, secondly I’m afraid that if she keeps the child she and the child may not survive.”
“Because of how malnourished and weak she is, the child may not develop well which may also lead to either a miscarriage or an early childbirth, her body is not strong enough to withstand childbirth which might lead to her death.”
Alistair’s eyes went to Zora who was still on the bed, he could not describe what he felt when he saw her small oval face with her eyes closed.
“Abort it.”
Doctor Patrick’s eyes widened.
“What?
I can’t do that without the patient’s approval, and besides you..
you are not…”
Alistair did not let him complete his sentence.
“I am the father of the child, so I decide who keeps my child.
Abort it.”
With that said he walked out of the hospital room.
Doctor Patrick, who was still stunned by what Alistair said, chased after him with his mouth open.
When they left the room, Zora whose eyes were closed finally opened them.
She hadn’t heard their full conversation but she heard Alistair’s last sentence.
‘Am I pregnant?’ She asked herself.
If he did not want to take responsibility he should say so.
She never really wanted to get entangled with him.
She could not keep lying on the bed.
Although her legs would not let her move freely without holding onto something, if she kept lying on the bed her unborn child would be killed.
‘I have to get out of here immediately.’ She thought.
She climbed down from the bed, but her legs were too weak so she fell the moment her feet touched the floor.
There was no way she could leave through the door, she would be caught.
She dragged herself to the window, using the drip stand to keep herself upright.
She opened the window and looked down.
It was not high, just the second floor.
If she fell she wouldn’t die, just minor injuries.
Zora struggled for some time before she finally dropped from the window.
Indeed she got minor injuries.
She wasn’t sure where she was and her phone was not with her so she could not make a call.
She crawled slowly.
While she was still crawling she heard someone call her name.
When she looked up it was Shona.
Shona quickly helped Zora to her feet.
“What happened to you?
Why… why are you here?”
Zora did not have the time to answer Shona.
“I’ll tell you later, but first we need to get out of here.”
Shona supported Zora until they got to her car.
She helped Zora into the passenger seat, then got into the driver’s seat and started the car.
When they got a few miles away from the hospital, Shona who had been glancing at Zora every ten seconds finally decided to ask.
“What happened?
Why were you at the hospital?”
Zora closed her eyes.
“I don’t want to talk about it.”
“Zora you can’t keep doing this, if you are in some kind of situation you should tell me.”
Zora looked out the window.
“I said I do not want to talk about it.”
“Zora, I’m just worried about you.”
Zora who had been holding in all her frustration suddenly snapped.
“Stop the car!!”
Shona kept driving.
“I said stop the car Shona!!!”
Shona slammed the brakes.
“Okay, okay, I’m sor…”
Before she could complete her sentence, Zora opened the car door and got out. This chapter is updated first at g.com.
She forgot about her legs and fell immediately.
Shona rushed out of the car to help her up, but Zora refused.
“Let go of me!
Let go!!”
Shona refused to let go, she knew Zora was angry.
But before she could help her up, Zora pushed her away.
“What did I do to deserve all this!!” Zora cried out.
Her tears streamed down her face.
“Zora…”
Shona felt her heart ache.
She wanted to comfort her but before she could Zora spoke again.
“After sleeping with my fiancé you pretend as if nothing happened.”
A smug bitter smile played on Zora’s lips.
“You must think you are an angel.
What did I do wrong?
Was it my fault that I was born?”
Shona closed her eyes.
She knew things would not go back to how they were, but she still could not afford to lose her friend.
“I’m sorry Zora.”
Zora laughed bitterly.
“Sorry?
Why?
Did you develop feelings for him?…”
“No!!
I never had feelings for him, in fact I hated him.”
“So why did you sleep with him?!
Was it because you hated him?!”
“You liar!!”
“No Zora!
I was trying to save you!”
Shona hated that things were escalating, so she tried to calm herself down, but Zora pressed on.
“From what?”
Shona sighed and decided to tell her.
“He… he got your mother’s…”
“Shona!!”
Before she could complete what she was about to say, a deep male voice cal
led her name.
They both turned toward the voice.
There stood Viktor, next to his car.
