The young madam is too polite.

This was Yuan Yuan’s first impression of Xu Zhiyuan.

But He Jiayu’s feelings were different.Full novel: Substitute Bride Turns into First Love? The CEO Really Knows How to Play — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

He noticed that his wife seemed to have some social anxiety.

He didn’t say she was timid because Xu Zhiyuan didn’t appear timid at all. She was merely nervous and uneasy around him, so how could someone like that be timid?

He thought she might have social anxiety because she was tense when facing Yuan Yuan. She tried to appear normal, but her hands at her sides betrayed her emotions. Moreover, when greeting earlier, she hesitated for a moment, as if she didn’t really want to interact with others but felt compelled to speak out of politeness.

“What is it?” He Jiayu looked at Yuan Yuan.

Yuan Yuan replied, “Mr. Chen from Guangyu Technology is waiting for you at the company.”

“Wasn’t it scheduled for the day after tomorrow?” He Jiayu said as he stood up.

“It seems he has something he wants to ask for your help with. He went straight to the company after getting off the plane.”

He Jiayu nodded and turned to look at Xu Zhiyuan, who had also stood up. “I’m going to the company.”

“Alright, take care.”

He Jiayu actually sensed a hint of eagerness in this brief farewell, as if she couldn’t wait for them to leave and leave the space to herself.

He considered himself someone who understood others’ feelings, so he hummed in acknowledgment and left with Yuan Yuan.

He Jiayu’s intuition was correct. Xu Zhiyuan wished she could have the entire space to herself. The moment they left, she immediately relaxed completely.

If Yuan Yuan hadn’t arrived in time earlier, Xu Zhiyuan wouldn’t have known what topic to bring up to keep the atmosphere from turning awkward.

In the car, Yuan Yuan noticed through the rearview mirror that He Jiayu seemed to be in a very good mood, so he glanced a few more times and was caught by He Jiayu.

“What?”

“You seem to be in a very good mood.”

But when Yuan Yuan had driven him back earlier, He Jiayu’s mood hadn’t been great because he had encountered a lunatic.

Was it because of the young madam?

“Later, go prepare the equipment needed for music production and arrange for someone to renovate the audio-visual room.”

“Alright.” Yuan Yuan agreed before asking, “Why do you suddenly want to get into music?”

“It’s not for me.”

If not for him, then it must be for the young madam?

Yuan Yuan suddenly understood but was still puzzled. Why did the young madam suddenly want to get into music? Her major had nothing to do with music.

…

Xu Zhiyuan was unaware of Yuan Yuan’s confusion. When she saw some of the equipment delivered to the villa around four in the afternoon, she was both surprised and delighted.

She was surprised that He Jiayu was actually so supportive of her, and delighted because the equipment was top-notch. She quickly took out her phone to cancel her own order.

When He Jiayu returned around six in the evening, Xu Zhiyuan was still tinkering in the audio-visual room.

Taking advantage of the free time in the afternoon, she had first “transferred” a song over and was now editing it using music software.

She was quite pleased. The music software in this world was very similar to the ones in reality, and after a bit of figuring out, she could use it smoothly.

She had graduated with a degree in forensic medicine but loved music. Even during her student days, she enjoyed exploring music and had tried composing songs herself, so she was very familiar with music software and had also specifically learned several musical instruments.

Speaking of her major, it’s worth mentioning here why she wasn’t working as a forensic doctor or in a related field but instead staying at home making videos.

There wasn’t really any dramatic experience to speak of. At first, she just went to work at the unit as a forensic assistant. Apart from dealing with the chief medical examiner, she dealt with corpses. Life was fairly decent.

Then one day, while going to work, she accidentally missed a step on the stairs. Not only did she break her arm, but she also injured a nerve, making it impossible for her to perform delicate tasks anymore. She had no choice but to resign.

In truth, she had other options, but she simply didn’t choose them.

He Jiayu knew she was in the media room and went to find her. Seeing how seriously she was tinkering, he didn’t disturb her. Instead, he stood at the doorway, leaning against the frame and watching.

Xu Zhiyuan was so focused that she didn’t notice He Jiayu standing at the door. It wasn’t until her stomach growled that she looked up. She rubbed her neck and stretched, unexpectedly catching sight of He Jiayu.

“You’re back,” Xu Zhiyuan said, putting her hand down with a hint of awkwardness.

It was the same greeting as when they met at noon, but He Jiayu felt something different this time.

“Yeah, are you done? Let’s eat first,” He Jiayu said.

“Okay.”

They sat facing each other in the living room. Xu Zhiyuan wasn’t as tense as she had been during the day, but she still felt a little uneasy.

He Jiayu noticed her discomfort and took the initiative to start a conversation.

“I just heard the song you created. It sounds pretty good.”

Actually, that wasn’t my creation. I’m just a copycat.

Xu Zhiyuan thought to herself, but hearing the praise still made her happy, and a little embarrassed.

“Thank you.”

She thought, even without a system to help her, being able to replicate works from reality still required some skill.

“Are you planning to sing it yourself?”

Xu Zhiyuan hadn’t considered that question yet.

Would she sing it herself?

Xu Zhiyuan shook her head in refusal.

Of course not.

When she first started making videos, she had actually tried appearing on camera, but she gave up in less than a minute. How could someone like her choose to sing herself? Of course, she would choose to collaborate with a singer and focus on working behind the scenes.

“I’m not very good at singing. I’ll probably submit it and collaborate with a singer,” she said. “It’s just that I’m not very familiar with these celebrities.”

The original owner didn’t follow celebrities, and she had just arrived, so she really didn’t know much about the stars in this world.

She also didn’t want to just pick anyone to perform these works. What if she ended up with someone terrible? It could even lead to her copied works being taken down, which would be more trouble than it’s worth.

“The Xinda Group also has an entertainment company under its name. If you need, I can have Yuan Yuan help you screen some options. How does that sound?” He Jiayu suggested.

Xu Zhiyuan’s eyes lit up, and she leaned forward slightly. “Really?”

They were husband and wife now, so it was better to keep things in the family. Most importantly, with their own company, the price would be easier to negotiate.

He Jiayu quite liked Xu Zhiyuan like this. Her big, bright eyes looked at you as if you were the only one in the world—calm yet full of life, a little adorable.

He put down his chopsticks and folded his hands on the table. “Of course,” he said. “As a debut song, what kind of style are you planning to write?”

Xu Zhiyuan was no longer nervous or uneasy. She relaxed and also set down her chopsticks. “Valentine’s Day is coming up soon, right? I plan to write a song that fits the occasion. I’ll need a male singer with a clear, high-pitched voice.”

Thinking about the song she was about to release, Xu Zhiyuan couldn’t help but smile, though it was a slightly mischievous grin that clearly hinted at something not entirely wholesome.

He Jiayu suddenly grew curious.

“A fitting song? Have you decided on the title yet?”

“Yes, yes. It’s called ‘Single’s Love Song.’ How does that sound?”
