Princess of Ice Moon
14: 14.
Princess of Ice Moon Ivy’s POV
“Ivy, are you in there? The door’s locked. Should I break it down?” I hear Ryder outside of the door and so does Theodore.
He pushes me away and walks to the other side of the room.
“You boyfriend’s here to rescue you,” he says.
“Have you two mated? Of course you have! Why am I even asking?”
Moments ago we were about to make love and now we’re back to this?
Fair enough.
Theodore is not anyone I want in my life anyway.
My wolf has backed down and I can see clearly again.
I ignore his arrogant assumptions about me and Ryder.
Let him think what he wants.
“You’ve had sex with Tiffany. You made our marriage a scam long before I ever did so don’t be Mr Self-Righteous.”
He comes close again.
“Don’t speak to me like that.”
“Why not?
You can speak and do what you want and I must walk carefully so as not to bruise your vulnerable ego?
No, I’m no longer under your control.
I’ll do what I want.”
“Step carefully, Ivy, I’m still the Alpha of your wolf pack.”
“No.
I’ll do ask I want.”
I move to get away from him and he pulls me back.
He kisses me roughly, bites my lip.
I can taste the metallic liquid and instead of being angry I can feel myself getting excited.
To prevent my wolf taking over, I push him away.
“Who do you think you are, Ivy?” Theodore snaps, angered by my rebuke.
“Watch yourself, Theodore.
Things have changed and you should take my advice and step carefully.”
“We are fated lovers.
You can push me away, you can run, you can hate me, in the end we will be together.”
“Theodore, check your delusions.
Fated or not, we will never be together again.
Go to Tiffany, you are perfect together.” I unlock the door and let Ryder in.
“Ivy! I’ve been looking for you everywhere. Are you alright?” He looks me up and down.
I wonder if I look as dishevelled on the outside as I feel on the inside.
“I’m fine. Let’s go.”
I look back as we walk to the hall.
Theodore is watching us leave.
Is that anger I see on his face?
Or sadness?
I can’t decide.
***
The party begins soon after we are back in the hall.
I immediately look for Nicole.
I see her standing with a group of elders.
When I get closer I hear them asking her about their various ailments and asking for free advice.
I grab her from behind and whisper in her ear.
“Can I save you from this?”
She turns around smiling and whispers, “Please!”
“Oh Ivy I have missed you so much! You can’t know how happy I am to see you and see you so healthy and alive. I really thought they killed you, that Theodore killed you,” Nicole says.
“Never.
My wolf finally arrived in the middle of it all.
Nicole, I fear nothing now.
I know I can overcome anything.”
“When you survived the crash I thought your wolf was the one that saved you.
Not sure why the shift took so long, happy it has though.”
“I’d still be in the mental hospital getting pumped with poison if it wasn’t for the wolf emerging when she did.
It was the exact right moment.” I look at my friend.
I can see the years have been difficult.
“How are you, Nicole?”
“I’m okay.
I was never going to stop supporting you as you know and that’s made life here difficult.
Tiffany and Alicia and the others can cause significant stress if they don’t like you.”
“Sorry, I feel responsible.” I decide then that I’ll do anything I can to support Nicole even get her out of here and take her back to the Ice Moon pack if she’ll agree.
“Don’t.
They need to be held responsible for their own actions.
They’re jealous and bitter because they hold positions that they shouldn’t.
You’re the Luna of Silver Claw.”
“Leave them.
I no longer want any of it.
I can’t tell you everything right now, but all will be revealed and then you will see there is no need to ever worry about me again.
It will be my turn to take care of you for a while.
I owe it to you.”
“Oh Ivy!
I missed you.” She hugs me.
“I’m so happy you’re home.”
I don’t correct her, to say this is not my home, never was, never will be.
I’ll tell her everything but not yet.
There are many things she must learn abut my new life and I intend to tell her it all.
Just then Grace and Ethan Sterling, my ex-parents, come up to us.
Grace attempts to hug me and I step back.
I can’t believe the audacity of this woman.
“Oh Ivy, we have been worried to death about you! I’m grateful to the Moon Goddess that she’s brought you back to us,” Grace says.
I look at her and think: has anyone been more self-serving and opportunistic than this woman?
“I can see you’ve had a transformation. I’m certain if you can behave we can take you back as our daughter,” Ethan says, without a bit of shame.
I laugh for quite a long time and they look at me oddly, not understanding.
They don’t even know how ridiculous they are, how devoid of even a single piece of integrity.
“The last time I saw you, you advised Theodore to keep me locked up in that mental hospital where the staff was poisoning me. You’d already chased me from the family and embraced Tiffany as your own, deemed me a worthless nobody,” I say.
“Now you stand here with this disgusting song and dance?
You are to be pitied, nothing more.
You make me sick.”
“But…I..it’s not…” Grace attempts to rewrite history and I hold up my hand to stop her.
I can’t listen to another word.
“You are not my parents, you never were. You never loved me. You had no loyalty, no care for me. But now I know who I truly am now. And more importantly I know very clearly who you are. You are my enemies. Never think otherwise.”
My wolf rises up and I bare my teeth and growl softly.
They step back and then quickly get away from me.
“Yes, run away!” I laugh again. This chapter was taken from novelping.com without permission.
Nicole laughs.
“You’re scary!”
“Good! They should all be very frightened of me.”
Just then I spot Jonathan and Tiffany up on the stage looking at me and whispering to each other.
The losers are busy gossiping and making plans.
This is going to be fun.
Watching their faces when they learn the truth about everything will be a lovely gift.
I watch as Theodore stands and makes his way to the microphone.
He looks recovered from the events that recently took place.
“Can I have everyone’s attention?” he says.
The hall becomes quiet.
“Despite him being a complete asshole, the Alpha is still damn handsome,” Nicole whispers.
“Yes, but looks aren’t everything. He has no backbone, no integrity, no moral code. Just a piece of weak grass in the wind. That makes him ugly,” I say.
Ryder is standing nearby and hears me.
He looks my way.
I smile.
He’s staying close, no chance of misplacing me again.
“We are here this evening to welcome a most distinguished guest.
She is the sole princess of the Ice Moon Wolf Pack, the most powerful wolf pack in the North.
This reception is in her honour.”
“Ice Moon’s business interests are wide and varied, they are the richest most successful pack in the country.
We are in discussions with them regarding cooperating and forming a business partnership.
The reception tonight, we hope, will be the first in many steps towards that goal for the two wolf packs.”
I take Nicole’s hand and squeeze it.
“I love you, Nicole.”
She looks at me confused.
She doesn’t know what’s about to happen, but I do.
The Silver Claw pack is about to get the definitive answer about me.
They will not like it and that makes me very happy.
On the stage Theodore is continuing.
“I’d like us to welcome the Princess of Ice Moon pack onto the stage.”
The people in the hall applaud loudly.
Theodore looks around.
I stay where I am.
“Princess? Are you in the hall?” He waits a moment.
“I think she might have stepped out for a moment. Let me ring her on the phone to tell her we’re ready,” Theodore says.
He dials the phone.
My phone rings and I take it out of my bag and put it on speaker.
Nicole looks at me shocked.
Ryder smiles and we begin to walk together to the front of the hall.
I hold my phone above my head so that all of the people can hear it ringing.
I slowly walk through the parted crowd of shocked people.
I climb the stairs onto the stage, turn my phone off and put it on my bag.
I reach my hand out to Theodore.
“Hello, I’m Princess Ivy of Ice Moon. I’m happy to be here.”
