Ivy pushes Theodore away, hard.

“No! I don’t want you!” she shouts.

“How can I want a man who was so cruel to me and put me in so much danger?”

Theodore backs away.

He laughs.

“Why do you lie?

I know you want me as much as I want you.

I can smell your need for me.”

“Smell what you want it doesn’t matter.

Do you have such a short memory?

You threw me away!

You told me that Tiffany would be the Luna!

You chose her!

What do you want with me now?”

“It was only until you were better.

I said that!

I told you I’d come for you when you got better.”

“I was never sick!

Don’t you get that?

I was the only one who was sane!

You should have been loyal.

You were my husband!

You should have taken my side every time.

But you didn’t!”

“You betrayed me in the most deep and painful way.

Now you stand here saying you want me, that you need me.

Fuck you!

I hate you.

We will never be together again.

Go to your Luna and leave me alone!”

“I love you.

I always have.” Theodore says this with his eyes closed, as if in pain, as if he is ripping muscle from bone.

The truth revealed can do that to a person.

“You have Tiffany now.

I’m not your wife.

You never marked me.

Go to the woman that you chose!

Leave me to my new life.”

“What is that new life you speak about?

Tell me,” Theodore says.

His greed for everything is too much!

“It has nothing to do with you. Must you take everything?”

Inside my wolf is raging.

“Mate, mate, mate, mate,” it repeats.

The words mix me up.

How can my wolf betray me like this?

Earlier when I first spotted Theodore across the room on the stage, I finally knew for certain what Grandma Susan had always said: Theodore and I are fated.

What a cruel turn of fate.

Why must it be this way?

Why him?

The rage and disappointment is overwhelming.

Even if my wolf is pushing me to mate my fated partner, I will fight it.

I must!

Too much is at stake!

What a fucked up mess this is!

How can we be fated after all that has happened?

Is it possible to hate your fated partner?

I think it is because I do.

I don’t speak for fear I will say the truth that rages in me— we are fated and I want him now!

“There is nothing between Tiffany and me. I mate her only because I must. There is no connection. You know what’s going on between us,” Theodore says.

“You feel it as strongly as I do!”

“Do I?”

Theodore laughs.

“It is so strong I think everyone in the hall sensed it.

We are fated!”

“No! You are reading on g.com, the official source.

It can’t be!” I’m shouting at him and to myself too.

I don’t want this.

I have a good life, a life I can control.

With Theodore I can feel my control slip away.

I’m not willing to pay that price.

Then I remember the most important thing.

The secret no one can ever know.

If Theodore should ever find out, I will lose my entire new life and all that is most precious to me.

I will be swallowed whole by him.

I will not allow that.

I must be strong.

“Ivy, if we are fated we must find a way.

I know now that you have a wolf in you, a strong powerful wolf.

We can be fantastic together.

I can feel it.

I know it now.

I have no confusion about anything.”

“Your clear thinking came too late.

No, no, please.

We can’t!” I hear the weakness in my voice.

“I know you were pregnant. I know it for certain now. And you lost our babies in the accident. I let you down and I feel awful about that,” he says.

“But now that we’ve found each other, that we know are meant to be together, we can try again. We can have a family. I want that so much, I want that only with you.”

I look away from him.

I can’t talk about that now, likely forever.

He comes closer to me.

He is shifting.

His powerful wolf is emerging, bit-by-bit.

His eyes, his ear, his strength.

I can feel my wolf pushing forward too.

I will soon lose all control to the wolf.

My body aches for him.

It has been a long absence and I can feel the missing parts inside of me that need to be touched by Theodore.

Parts I’d forgotten were there.

I’m fighting it with my whole self and I’m losing.

He pulls me to him and his arms are wolf-strong.

They hold me tightly and for a moment I relax into him.

I am where I’m meant to be, it feels perfect.

My wolf is taking over.

It feels right and safe though my brain knows it is not.

He lifts me up on the wooden desk and pushes my dress up to bare my thighs.

He caresses them and I’m sure I will fall into him forever.

He bends and kisses my thighs up and down, back and forth.

My head falls backward and I moan with pleasure.

Do I howl?

Maybe.

Does he howl?

I think so.

No!

I get away from him.

I push my dress back, though I’m wet and aching with want.

My legs are unsteady, my head spinning.

“Theodore, there is too much that is not right. If we are fated, then the Moon Goddess got it wrong. I can’t be with you. You’ve taken and destroyed so much of my life, I will not allow you to take more.”

Theodore is bent over, breathing hard.

Trying to control his wolf.

“It will be different. If we don’t come together when we know that we are fated, we are putting ourselves on a path of endless want and heartbreak,” Theodore is nearly begging, still bent over trying to contain his desire.

“We can’t choose to ignore the fact that we are fated when we don’t need to,” Theodore says.

“We’ve found each other, Ivy! We’re here. We know what our destiny is. We can’t fight it! We shouldn’t! It’s wrong.”

I shake my head back and forth.

I don’t want to accept what he’s saying even if I know it is true.

My wolf is harassing me: Let him take you!

Mate him!

Mate him! This chapter is updated first at g.com.

My defences are being battered.

My strength is wearing thin.

Theodore pulls me to him again.

He grips my hair and holds my head.

His lips gently caress mine.

Back and forth, feather touches.

He kisses me and our eyes meet.

I lean into him.

He kisses me harder, pushes his tongue into my mouth and I am gone.

I moan and I feel my wolf emerge, she will be in control now.

Theodore leans back onto the desk and I’m between his legs.

He holds me tightly with his strong muscular thighs around my hips.

Our lips never part.

He is probing me.

He owns my lips, my mouth.

He kisses my neck.

Takes my breasts in his hands.

You are fated.

You are fated.

You are fated.

My wolf repeats like a mantra that cannot be denied.

I agree now.

Yes!

We are fated!

Let it be!

In the hall, Ryder has lost Princess Ivy.

He rushes around the crowded room and she’s not there.

Is she outside?

He dashes out and searches the parking area and the big garden.

He must find her!

He feels awful that he has failed her.

How did it even happen?

She was there and then suddenly vanished.

He goes back in the house.

He finds Alicia.

He grabs her by the shoulders.

“Where is Ivy? Where did they take her?” He is fierce and desperate.

“I don’t know,” Alicia says frightened.

“Don’t hurt me. I know nothing.”

He leaves her it’s clear she knows nothing.

He races out of the hall and starts moving through passages and entering rooms.

He can’t find her anywhere and every minute she is not found could be the minute that changes everything.

Ivy could be harmed or worse.

She’s had enough pain in her life.

He was meant to keep her safe.

He can’t see Theodore or Tiffany.

Do they have her somewhere?

Are they harming her?

He’ll kill them if they are.

There will be no restraint this time for either one of them.

He enters a hallway.

It’s quiet but then he hears a wolf howl.

They must have her!

He runs to the room where he thinks the howl came from.

“Ivy! Princess Ivy are you in there?” He pounds on the door.

He can hear people inside Is that sound from Ivy?

Is she in danger?

Should he break the door down?

“Ivy! Ivy! Are you okay?”
