In the lawyer’s office I suddenly catch a scent.

It’s Ivy!

I can find her!

I rush out saying nothing to anyone.

I know I can find her now.

I follow the scent and it takes me to the docks.

Can someone have brought Ivy here?

I get out of the car and look around.

There’s lots of boats and people but I can’t see Ivy.

Maybe I got it wrong.

I walk out towards the pier.

I hesitate.

The sea is not the best place for me; I have nightmares about my parents drowning in the sea.

They went on a cruise and the ship hit a rock and sunk.

They were never found.

The divers said their bodies were likely trapped under the ship and could not be recovered.

When I was a boy I used to see them dead underwater, trapped, slowly being eaten by fish.

I’ve never been in the sea since then.

Suddenly I see a speedboat pull up to the pier.

A black SUV speeds to the end of the pier and two men come out carrying Ivy!

She’s limp, as if she’s been drugged.

I hope it’s only drugs.

I hope she’s still alive.

As I run down the pier, I shift to my wolf.

My powerful legs rush me towards her.

“Ivy!” I call.

The men look at me and quickly carry her into the waiting speedboat.

They head out to open water.

As I’m running down the pier, I see another boat idling, a man about to go out fishing.

I jump into the boat and lift the man up onto the pier.

“I’ll bring it back, don’t worry,” I tell him and he nods.

He trusts his Alpha.

They’re going deeper and deeper into the sea.

I try to ignore my apprehension.

I need to save her!

They see me following them.

The two men pick up Ivy and throw her overboard!

She’s still unconscious.

She’s going to drown!

I need to get to her.

The thugs’ boat takes off back to the pier, just as I get to the spot where they dumped Ivy.

Without hesitation, despite my worst fears, I dive in.

In the water I see her, she’s falling to the bottom of the ocean.

I swim as fast as I can.

I get to her and hold her tightly as I swim back to the surface.

I put her in the boat and then jump in myself.

She’s unresponsive!

Is she dead?

It can’t be!

I bend down next to her and take her in my arms, holding her tightly.

“Please Moon Goddess, don’t take her now! We’ve only just found each other.”

I look down at her still, beautiful face.

I kiss her.

“Please, Ivy, come back to me. Please, I love you. You’re my world!”

I hold her, rocking her, thinking about how pitiful my life will be without her.

I might as well die too.

Then I feel her move.

She coughs.

Then coughs again and takes a big breath.

“Oh Ivy! You’re alive!” I hug her to me.

“Theodore? What? I don’t know what happened?”

I kiss her again.

“All I care about is that you are alive!”

She looks at me, wet from the sea.

“But…but you’re terrified of the water.

Did you rescue me in the sea?”

“What could I do?

They threw you in.

I had to save you.”

Ivy hugs me.

“Thank you! I know how much courage that took, Theodore.”

I shrug off her compliments. Find the original chapter at g.com.

“Do you remember anything that happened? Anything about who took you?”

Ivy sits up.

Her blouse is wet and clinging to her beautiful body, her breasts, the nipples erect from the cold.

I try not to look.

This is no time to get turned on by her no matter how sexy she looks.

“I was at lawyer’s.

The receptionist took me in the office but she was part of it.

There were two men waiting.

That was it.

I think they injected me with something.”

“Who knew you were going to the lawyer’s office before coming to our meeting?” I ask.

“Anyone could have got the information, we weren’t keeping it a big secret.

Many in Silver Claw could have a grudge against me.

The reception for me didn’t go over very well with your pack.”

“I accepted you and I’m the Alpha.

Who under me can take a differing view?”

“Don’t take it as an insult.

They wouldn’t be undermining your leadership; they would be supporting the Luna and her family.

I’ll admit I didn’t show them much grace at the reception.

I could have been better.”

“You’ve been through a lot with them.

Still I am the Alpha, not Tiffany or the Sterlings.” My anger spikes.

Imagine someone kidnapping the Princess of Ice Moon.

“I’ll find out who did this to you.

They will pay!”

“I won’t even say it though you know what I think,” Ivy said.

“You think it’s Tiffany.” I don’t know what to think.

Honestly, who else would want Ivy dead?

“How did you find me anyway?” Ivy asks.

“Your scent. I can always find my fated mate. At least now, I won’t lose you again.” I smile.

She laughs.

“We’ll see. Let’s get back to shore. I’m still groggy and feeling sick from whatever they gave me.”

I drive the boat back to the pier and give it to the fisherman.

I give him some money to cover the time he missed out at sea.

I help Ivy to the car.

She seems to be getting sicker.

“I’m calling Nicole to meet us at my house. You’re staying by me until you feel better. My house has excellent security, you’ll be safe there.”

She gets in the car and we head out of the port.

Once we’re on the road she says, “Your security is good, unless the one wanting to kill me lives in your house.”
