The rain outside was getting heavier and heavier, the windshield wipers working nonstop. The Gu family’s old estate was located in the suburbs, along some rather remote roads. At a sharp turn, Wen Ting lost focus for a moment, and bang—she collided head-on with an oncoming car.

At this moment, Wen Ting’s irritation grew even stronger!

Wen Ting sat in her car. The rain outside was so heavy that she couldn’t make out the person in the driver’s seat of the other vehicle, though she could vaguely tell from the impact that she’d hit what looked like an extremely expensive Rolls-Royce.

A full five minutes passed, and the other party still hadn’t gotten out of their car. Wen Ting couldn’t sit still any longer. She found her umbrella, opened it, and stepped out.

The front of her Mercedes was already smashed in.

The other car, however, was still in good shape—just a bit of scraped paint.

Wen Ting’s mouth twitched. She walked up to the Rolls-Royce and knocked on the window. It was her fault—she’d drifted out of her lane and hit the other car. Wen Ting admitted it was her mistake. The moment the window rolled down, she was about to say: How much do you want? I’ll pay for it.

Before she could finish her sentence, she caught sight of the man’s cold, handsome face—and Wen Ting froze.

Li Jin froze too.

Their eyes met. He could vaguely detect the emotions shifting in Wen Ting’s gaze—from impatience to anger, and finally settling into a pitiful tone as she spoke: “I… is your car expensive? I probably can’t afford to pay for it.”

Li Jin didn’t know who Wen Ting was. Her Mercedes was worth just over three hundred thousand, while his Rolls-Royce was valued at over a million.

What could he do?

“No need for you to pay.”

Wen Ting lowered her eyes. “Then… could you give me a ride? My car’s broken. I can’t drive it now.”

“No.”

With that, Li Jin began to roll up his window. Wen Ting quickly reached out and stopped it with her hand.

“Can you bear to watch a beautiful woman fail to catch a ride on this rainy night, and maybe even get taken away by some bad guy? Help me out—considering last night we…”

A strikingly fierce face speaking such pitiful words—it was quite incongruous.

“Get in!” Li Jin frowned, cutting her off impatiently.

The moment those words fell, Wen Ting broke into a smile.

She walked around the front of the car and got into the passenger seat.

“Where to?”

Li Jin’s voice came through. Wen Ting smiled brightly and said, “Your place.”

Li Jin said nothing more, starting the engine and driving off.

Wen Ting wasn’t a good driver. She’d gotten into a car accident right after getting her license at eighteen, and had always dumped the problem on Gu Nanshen, that poor sucker.

Fine, she admitted it—she was just a rich young lady who was great at causing trouble.

Wen Ting looked down and sent Gu Nanshen a message, telling him not to inform their grandparents.

Putting away her phone, Wen Ting raised her eyes to look at the man in the driver’s seat. His clear profile came into view. At this moment, her mood improved somewhat—but then she remembered this morning’s events…

“Li Jin, why didn’t you see me this morning?”

Li Jin paused slightly. Everyone—every single person—addressed Li Jin respectfully as “President Li” upon first meeting.

This woman, on their second encounter, was calling him by his full name, her tone dripping with all sorts of dissatisfaction.

“Why would I need to see you?” Li Jin responded flatly.

“You…” Wen Ting laughed in exasperation. “Ha, last night was certainly enjoyable! Pulled up your pants and pretended not to know me. I never thought the esteemed President Li would be this kind of person!”

“Wen Ting, last night was mutually consensual.”

“I already gave you two hundred thousand.”

Li Jin spoke each word deliberately, the implication being: What more do you have to complain about?

Just as he finished speaking, Wen Ting’s phone rang. It was Gu Nanshen calling. Wen Ting hung up on him without a second thought.

Gu Nanshen had sent two messages.

【My dear ancestor!】

【Are you okay?】

Wen Ting replied: 【I’m fine, but the car isn’t.】

Putting away her phone, she looked at Li Jin with obvious displeasure.

“I don’t want the money.”

With that, she took the check out of her bag and set it aside.

Did she look like she needed his measly two hundred thousand?!

Li Jin frowned slightly, glancing at Wen Ting from the corner of his eye. A woman full of thorns who wouldn’t let things go and didn’t know what was good for her—he disliked her immensely.

Wen Ting waited, but Li Jin never asked, “Then what do you want?”

So she cut straight to the point. “I want you to be my boyfriend!”

The moment the words left her mouth, Li Jin pulled the car over to the side of the road, his gaze sweeping over Wen Ting from head to toe, his expression clearly saying: Are you dreaming?

Wen Ting: “…”

“Wen Ting, know your place.”

Hearing him call her name again, Wen Ting finally asked, “How do you know my name is Wen Ting?”

Last night, neither of them had introduced themselves.

“Fu Shichu is a friend of mine.”

Hearing this, Wen Ting was even more confused. “Who is Fu Shichu?”

The name sounded somewhat familiar, but she couldn’t quite place it at the moment.

Li Jin: “…”

“He’s the CEO of Shi Xing.”

Hearing this, Wen Ting suddenly understood. Oh, her boss!

But what did that have to do with Li Jin knowing her name? Wen Ting didn’t dwell on the question. Mentioning Shi Xing reminded her of one of her goals in getting close to Li Jin.

“Let me be your girlfriend, or give me another audition for Feng Ning—pick one.”

She’d secure the role first, then take things slow!

“Neither.”

Wen Ting had already backed down a thousand steps. Now, hearing Li Jin’s words, she bristled again. “Li Jin, sleeping with a producer can get you a role outright! And with you? I’m just asking for an audition opportunity, alright?”

At this moment, Wen Ting was fuming again.

Li Jin turned to look at her face once more, speaking slowly and deliberately. “I’ve seen the video of your performance that Director Li sent me. Your acting is good, but this face of yours doesn’t fit the female lead’s character in Feng Ning. Even if I gave you another audition, you wouldn’t make it.”

Wen Ting: … Her anger continued to rise.

“There’s a female supporting role in Feng Ning. The audition is tomorrow. You can go try for that.”

Wen Ting suppressed her anger and asked, “What’s the supporting role like?”

Li Jin: “Arrogant, overbearing, and vicious.”

“…”

Oh, great!

Go to hell!

Wen Ting had always been proud and ambitious. Back in college, when performing, she had to stand in the center position—otherwise, she wouldn’t perform at all.

It was the same in the entertainment industry. She was determined that her first role had to be the female lead; otherwise, she’d rather not act at all.

Besides, Li Jin seemed to be making a dig at her.

The conversation ultimately ended with Wen Ting angrily declaring, “Not a chance.”

Then she got out of the car and slammed the door behind her.

The loud bang made Li Jin frown again, further cementing his conviction.

This woman’s temper.

He really didn’t like it.

Li Jin suddenly felt a twinge of regret. Yesterday, drunk and swept up by Wen Ting’s face, he’d been bewitched. For now, he just hoped the two of them would never cross paths again.
