Li Group.

Li Jin had just finished a remote video conference. As he picked up his phone, he saw the message Lu Jue had posted in the group chat.

It was only a silhouette.Full novel: Super Sweet! Young Master LI’s Top-Tier Drama Queen: Wild and Sassy — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

But that refined, coldly alluring figure still allowed him to recognize her—Wen Ting.

Li Jin’s hand holding the phone tightened unconsciously.

Wen Ting… had actually gone to have a meal with Lu Jue?

Earlier in the day, when he’d learned that Lu Jue was planning to pursue Wen Ting, Li Jin had thought there was no way he’d succeed.

He knew it well.

Wen Ting’s target was him.

A flicker of darkness passed through Li Jin’s eyes. Had Wen Ting realized there was no possibility with him, and so given up and turned to Lu Jue, who was clearly interested in her?

Just then, a knock came at the office door.

Li Jin’s voice was cold and indifferent. “Come in.”

Assistant Xu Lin walked in and said respectfully, “President Li, you have a cooperation meeting with the president of the Xia Corporation at eight tonight. Shall we head over now?”

“Yes.”

Li Jin responded flatly, then put away his phone, grabbed his coat, and left the office.

By the time Wen Ting drove to the private club, an hour had already passed. It was the same place she’d come with Yan Qing last time.

This time, Lu Jue had booked a private room on the third floor.

The two took the elevator upstairs. Inside the room, besides Fu Shichu, there was also a group of their mutual friends from their social circle.

Wen Ting followed Lu Jue inside.

For a moment, everyone in the room turned their gaze toward them.

Because Wen Ting was simply too beautiful.

Lu Jue led Wen Ting around, greeting everyone and introducing her name, then sat down beside Fu Shichu.

Wen Ting didn’t see Li Jin, and felt a slight sense of disappointment.

She had only met Fu Shichu once at the contract signing. Regardless, he was her boss, so Wen Ting took the initiative to greet him first. “President Fu.”

“Mm.” Fu Shichu responded casually.

Lu Jue was good at livening up the atmosphere. He opened a bottle of wine, picked up a glass, and poured some for Wen Ting.

She clinked glasses with him and downed it in one go. Since Li Jin wasn’t there, she didn’t plan to stay long either, thinking to herself that she’d find a chance to slip away.

Just then, the door to the private room opened.

A woman walked in on high heels.

“Oh, Miss Mu has arrived!”

Mu Congya wore a smile on her face, greeted a few people, and headed toward Fu Shichu’s direction. When she saw Wen Ting beside Lu Jue, she was momentarily taken aback.

Though she’d only seen her once, Wen Ting had left a deep impression on her.

Mu Congya’s eyes flickered slightly. She walked over and sat down in the empty seat next to Wen Ting.

“This is the eldest daughter of the Mu family, and this is Wen Ting.”

Lu Jue introduced the two.

“Hello.”

“Hello.”

Both greeted each other lightly.

Mu Congya figured Wen Ting probably didn’t remember her. Looking at Lu Jue’s expression, an idea formed in her mind. She pulled out her phone and found Gu Nanshen’s WeChat.

[I saw the person you like at Lu Jue’s gathering!]

[Her name’s Wen Ting, right? Lu Jue is definitely into her! The two of them seem a bit off.]

[Bro, is the person you like some kind of player or what?]

…

Wen Ting had no interest in any of this at the moment. She knew very well that Mu Congya’s purpose for being here was the same as her own.

She held her phone and vented to Yan Qing about everything that had happened throughout the day.

Just then, Mu Congya beside her spoke up, asking, “Where’s Li Jin? Isn’t he coming?”

Fu Shichu was the one who answered Mu Congya. “I don’t know. He has a business dinner tonight. I doubt he’ll be coming.”

Hearing this, Wen Ting felt the same disappointment as Mu Congya.

Using the excuse of needing the restroom, she grabbed her bag and left the private room.

The moment she opened the door, the thumping music from outside flooded in. Wen Ting walked toward the elevator in her high heels when a photo from Gu Nanshen came through on her phone.

It was a screenshot of his chat with Mu Congya, accompanied by three question marks: 【??】

What “person she likes”? Since when did she become someone Gu Nanshen liked? And how exactly did she become a player?

【???】

Wen Ting sent three question marks back.

As her older brother, Gu Nanshen replied with all seriousness: 【Aren’t you pursuing Li Jin? How did it become Lu Jue? Wen Ting, that man is no good. Stay away from him.】

Sure, Li Jin wasn’t exactly a good catch in Gu Nanshen’s eyes either, but if Wen Ting actually managed to snag him, then Gu Nanshen wouldn’t have any competition!

Seeing this message, Wen Ting felt a bitterness she couldn’t voice.

Just as she was about to reply, the elevator doors opened. She looked up and stepped inside—and the moment she saw the figure in the elevator, her eyes lit up instantly!

Li Jin!

Their eyes met. A flicker of darkness passed through Li Jin’s expression before he stepped out of the elevator.

Wen Ting quickly shoved her phone into her bag, and the next second, she grabbed hold of Li Jin’s arm.

“Let go.”

Li Jin’s voice was cold and indifferent.

Wen Ting didn’t let go. Instead, she spoke with pure audacity: “I’m hungry. There’s nothing fun in there anyway. Take me out to eat.”

She hadn’t eaten her fill at the restaurant earlier—she really was hungry.

The key point was that Mu Congya was inside. As the ultimate wingman, she certainly wasn’t going to give Mu Congya even the slightest chance.

Hearing this, Li Jin curled his lips slightly, his voice cold: “Have Lu Jue take you to eat.”

At that, Wen Ting frowned slightly.

From the looks of it, Li Jin seemed to know what had happened today. She raised an eyebrow with a smile: “Tsk tsk, you seem pretty unhappy about it!”

Unhappy?

Li Jin didn’t feel unhappy at all.

It was just that during his business dinner, he couldn’t focus on anything, and eventually found himself at this club.

He wanted to see for himself whether Wen Ting had really been won over by Lu Jue.

Li Jin pried Wen Ting’s hand off his arm without responding to her words, then strode out of the elevator.

Wen Ting didn’t hesitate either! The next second, she followed right behind him.

Since Li Jin was here, there was no way she was going back. Worst case scenario, she’d return to the private room and drink together!

After taking only two steps, Li Jin realized Wen Ting was still following him, and he stopped in his tracks.

Wen Ting caught up to him. “What’s wrong?”

A bright smile adorned the woman’s face.

Wen Ting looked especially beautiful today—dressed in a new-season French-style dress from N.S., her wavy long hair casually draped over the back of her neck, carrying the same perfume scent from when they first met.

Li Jin frowned slightly.

For some inexplicable reason, he really didn’t want a Wen Ting like this to appear before that group of rowdy friends back in the private room.
