Thanks to Wang Xiuying’s years of gossip, Su Qinghua could still remember some of Director Zhou and his family’s transgressions.
For example, he had embezzled a few hundred thousand worth of goods over the past decade or so. His wife had also bullied many, many wives and staff members using her husband’s name. She was also one of the main beneficiaries of the embezzlement.
It seemed that they also had a few lives in their hands, mostly to keep their wrongdoings under wraps, though one was one of Director Zhou’s earlier mistresses. That one got greedy, so the couple got rid of her.
Their son was the worst of the bunch. He had apparently harmed many young girls, even before he became an adult.
Whenever he found someone attractive, he would harass her wantonly, and there were many cases of rape. It was just that the families would often take settlement money after receiving threats from them.
They had also maliciously reported many families, causing them to be sent down, and then teaming up with the Red Guards to take their wealth.
Their victims included their own professors, doctors, philanthropists, and their families.
Back then, those radicals were like rabid dogs that would bite at the slightest suspicion and would not bother investigating reports. If there was wealth to be taken, they would grab it, throwing down the actual owners to die elsewhere without any guilt.
They made sure that those families were sent to the harshest place without hope of a comeback. Indeed, most families had indeed perished in farms in who-knows-where, unable to get revenge for the injustice that had befallen them.
Well, for the most part.
The person who ultimately took this family down was a young member of one of those families, and they made sure the transgressions were widely publicized, which was why Su Qinghua knew so many details.
Speaking of which, the name of the writer was also the same as that of an old friend. She hadn’t thought much about it since people could have the same names. Now, after recently hearing from Xiaomei that one of her childhood friends had been wrongfully reported, the chances of them being the same person were actually quite high.
She wondered if she should give him the chance for revenge, but decided to cut this pest early on. The actual justice against the Zhou’s, in her past life, came much later, into the 80s, and that venomous family would’ve caused countless harm in the meantime.
The first thing she did was to write two report letters and then investigate a certain someone’s itinerary. Report letters had a major impact nowadays, especially if the right people pushed for it.
The contents of the letters were some of that family’s major transgressions as well as the proof of them. Because she wasn’t sure about the timeline of the crimes, she chose to write only the earlier ones.
For example, the Zhou family patriarch hid a lot of gold and antiques stolen from disgraced individuals under the peach tree in his backyard. Ledgers of his bribery were also there. They were in code, but it wasn’t impossible for authorities to decipher.
Another, about two or three meters away, under the wild flowers, laid his first wife.
It was the wife that he had back when he was still a poor lad with no background. That poor, tragic woman had supported that bastard during the early parts of his career. However, when he succeeded, he suddenly found her to be an old-faced hag who was no longer able to contribute to his career.
So he killed her and then spread the word that she ran away with a man, because divorce could affect his career trajectory.
As for his son, he had already harmed dozens of women at this age. Some were classmates from high school, some were his workmates, and some were literally girls passing by in the same neighborhood. They were truly unfortunate to have caught Zhou Wenping’s eyes, she herself included.
The sad part was that some of the women’s families were greedy and readily accepted settlement in terms of money or jobs, while others tried to fight but they were all brutally suppressed.
A few of these women had already perished. Some were sold off by their families for cheap to violent men who were willing to pay high dowries despite their ’second-hand’ status, while others died after committing suicide.
She listed those down, too, at least those that had been listed early on in the reports.
The most lamentable news she knew related to Zhou Wenping’s sins was when a whole family was destroyed while trying to fight for justice. However, this one would happen a bit later, and Su Qinghua hoped to avoid this calamity from happening altogether.
Speaking of this, these people wouldn’t have gotten away with so many things without connections. In the reports, it was revealed that a superintendent in the public security office was a Zhou family member, which meant they had to make things big or else it could get pushed under the rug.
It was also why she didn’t dare handle things herself. She didn’t even eye most of the treasures that that family had collected. She was still self-aware; she was strong, but definitely not invincible.
At least not yet.
The letters were sent anonymously to three people, just in case it gets suppressed. One was to a reliable police station, another was to a work rival and someone who would gain something directly from Director Zhou’s downfall, and the last was to an honest reporter working for the newspaper.
The reporter had been suppressed in her past life because of his ideals, so she decided on him.
Even with all this, due to the size of the case, the actual effect would take a few days at least. She hoped she could watch it happen while she was still here, though it was unlikely.
For now, she should collect some interest.
After sending the letters, she staked out on Zhou Wenping’s usual route.
His usual itinerary was to play around, gamble, womanize, and then head home using the same alley. She had a scarf around her head as a rough disguise. She also wore thick clothing, making it difficult to distinguish her body shape.
She tested her strength by crushing a small rock in her palms, confirming that the buff was still active. When she saw the bastard, she immediately dragged him into the alley.
He was already plastered, so the sudden pull easily imbalanced him. Before he could react, she covered his mouth with a random rag and then covered his face with a burlap sack.
She looked around and made sure there was no one around before she started beating him up.
PACK!
SMACK!
BAM!
Each hit was heavier than a hit from a strong, muscular man. It was even more painful from Su Qinghua’s small hands because the force felt sharper and more concentrated.
PAK!
Zhou Wenping had no idea what was happening. All he knew was that he was in so much pain and he was so disoriented that it felt like he was helplessly being thrown around.
And he really was.
Su Qinghua grabbed his feet and, using her entire weight, swung him around, repeatedly slamming him against the wall.
BANG! BANG! BANG!
This was a struggle even with the buff, but the fact that she could easily lift such a heavy fat man—even if it were temporary—felt exhilarating. She felt even more excited whenever she heard the cracking sounds made by the man’s flesh and the walls next to her.
Su Qinghua had always known she had violent tendencies, apparently from being repressed for decades. In her past life, she vented by taking several self-defense classes.
Adding actual, brute strength to the mix was adding wings to a tiger~
BAM!
SMACK!
And of course, lest she forget—
Crunch!!
Squelch!
"!!!!!"
Zhou Wenping’s muffled scream reverberated as he felt his third leg being crushed.
He writhed on the ground, pain shooting through every limb and pounding onto his skull. It was driving him mad!!
Su Qinghua had no concern for the agony she was causing the man. All she knew was that regardless of the results of the investigations, destroying this guy’s third leg had already saved many girls.
She raised her leg high, targeting his knees.
CRUNCH!
"!!!!"
Another leg down.
She then raised her arms high, aiming to land another attack on his face, planning to dislocate his jaw.
Poof!
The attack still connected, and it hurt because she hit a bruise, but the strength was definitely not the same as before. The buff had ended.
Su Qinghua regrettably sighed as she stared at her small fist. She should plant more potatoes.
