To be honest, after the honeymoon phase, being a wife in this era was mostly a thankless task, particularly if you did not find a reliable husband.

Love could only power someone so far. In the end, what could make a relationship last was also respect, sincerity, and an active intent to remain faithful.

She shook her head. Since she was opting away from marriage, she shouldn’t think about those kinds of things anymore.Full novel: Superpowered Firecracker Back in the 80s — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

It wasn’t like she couldn’t feed herself! And she could feed herself well.

The new plants in her space had not yet matured, but they had grown significantly over the past couple of hours. She couldn’t help but look forward to seeing them all mature.

After remembering how the food grown in her space tasted like, she didn’t find the ones she had taken to be particularly palatable.

The food grown in her space was especially delicious and nutritious, thanks to the combination of her unique manifestation of the wood power. She didn’t have the strength to plant much before. Now that she has partially recovered, she should maximize her time.

To do any physical task in her space, she had to be inside of it. Hence, to be able to do anything, she asked the nurse to set up the curtain around her bed.

The old nurse nodded readily, feeling sorry for her, thinking that she was so eager to add the delineation were because she couldn’t bear to see other families.

"Please have no one visit me outside of the designated time...I...want to be alone."

"I understand."

At this level, Su Qinghua could not hear or see what was happening outside the space, so if she went out, she could very well be met with someone’s eyes.

Not to mention, she did not have a watch—those things were insanely expensive these days—so she could only take mental notes and make approximations to make sure that when the nurse returned, someone was on the bed.

After everything was clear, she headed into her space, which was just as big as a toilet with a low ceiling height. She pushed most loose items to the corner to give as much space to planting.

Planting in her space was very straightforward. She didn’t have to differentiate soil, depth, specific amount of sunlight or moisture, or whatever. As long as it was planted in space, it was guaranteed to grow well.

She replanted what could be replanted, and even divided the potato per eye, growing several more potatoes from a single plant. She did a similar process with the beans.

The plants that would grow from these seeds would be first-generation (or Level 1) crops with improved quality—some would even have mild regenerative effects.

Of course, this effect was very, very weak, almost negligible to others. It was just that the space’s effect on her, specifically, was very synergistic, so she felt more of the advantages than other people when she ate them.

After planting in the small area, she placed stone markers along the current edges of the space to monitor how it increased in size over the next couple of days.

The number of times it was used, the more plants and variety were inside, and the higher the level of crops would affect the space’s quality and size. It was still toilet-sized now, but it should increase again once the first generation of plants matured.

Satisfied, patted the black soil off her hand and used damp fabric she got from the house to clean her hands before reappearing outside the space.

She stared at the ceiling, the back of her neck on the soft pillow. Her eyes felt heavy, and it did not take long for her to slip into slumber.

...

Meanwhile—

"What’s going on? Where is that brat?!" Wang Dashan arrived home and the door was wide open. He quickly found his daughter inside his stepdaughter’s room, tied up with the patched blanket.

When he grabbed the disgusting rag off her mouth, she tattled like there was no tomorrow.

"She hit me! She’s rebelling! She hit me, dad! DAD! She dragged me and tied me up! She’s gone crazy!" Wang Xiuying screamed and continued to rant without care for her image.

She was so noisy and annoying, and it made Wang Dashan’s veins pop.

"SHUT UP!" he screamed, making the girl shut her mouth by slapping her with the rag on hand. "Where is she?!"

The groom he introduced to her yesterday was the beloved nephew of his factory director. Her calling him ugly and hiding in her room like her life depended on it almost caused him to get fired!!

He was definitely being targeted today at work, and he was so exhausted with the extra unpaid work that he wanted to hit someone.

The lecherous nephew explicitly stated that he would marry no one else but Su Qinghua, looking absolutely obsessed at the mere mention of her name!

He was threatened that if he couldn’t make it happen, he could say goodbye to his job!

He was planning on dragging that brat to the director’s home to apologize to secure the marriage, but what was this now? She’s gone?!

What about his job?!

"Damnit! LOOK FOR HER!"

Behind him, Qiao Yaqin arrived in time to hear her stepdaughter’s rants. Her eyebrows furrowed, her sharp nails digging into her own palms.

She also noticed that quite a lot of things went missing from the house. She rushed to her room and saw her remaining 10 yuan and coupons were also gone.

"That little vixen!" she muttered coldly to herself with gritted teeth. "I should’ve drowned her when I gave birth to her."

She said these venomous words with a gentle and calm tone. The contrast, if anyone was there, would’ve unnerved anyone.

After struggling so much after birth, after being subjected to so much pain, she had to give birth to that kind of thing. Now, grown up, she was still causing trouble.

Cold indifference and maliciousness passed by the woman’s pretty, peach-blossom eyes.

That little girl needs to be taught a lesson she can never forget.
