“Miss, we have arrived.”
Reaching the hospital, Claret looked around, reinforcing her memory of the hospital layout.
Even though her father invested in this hospital, they rarely came here if they didn’t have anything to do.
“Miss, Madam and Second Miss is on the third floor number 301,” the driver reminded before Claret came out of the car.
“I understand.”
Claret walked into the hospital and purposely walked around once, pretending that she needed to look for the way up.
The hospital has two elevators, one at the west and one at the east.
The west side was heading towards the laboratory and the ICU areas while the left side was heading to was the normal patients room.
‘I have to visit Bran later.’ Claret’s eyes flickered slightly as she made the judgement in her mind.
Not that she minded the additional route, but she disliked these three people.
Those who knew her well will definitely be suspicious of her behaviour.
She needed a good reason to ensure none of them were suspicious about her.
Claret lowered her eyes slightly as she entered the elevator and made her way to the third floor.
Even before entering the hospital room, she could already hear her stepmother yell and rebuke.
“Damn that girl!
Just how long would it take for her to come and deliver the food?
I’m already starving!” Mrs.
Walker cursed out loud, wanting to smash the plates in front of her.
If this was at home, she would have long thrown out various things rather than enduring like this.
“Mom, be patient a bit.
If you’re so hungry, you can eat the hospital food first.”
“No way!
The food in the hospital is not for human consumption!
It’s so disgusting!”
Claret: “…”
She has the feeling that if other patients or hospital staffs were to hear Mrs.
Walker’s words, they would definitely want to curse out loudly.
Because her words were truly insulting.
Was she trying to say that the patients were not human beings or the staff who prepared the food were negligent in their duties?
Either way, neither would be willing to accept it.
“Mom!” Brenda called out sternly.
“What?” Mrs.
Walker asked in annoyance.
“We’re in the hospital right now.
Tone down a bit!” Brenda was feeling a bit irritable right now.
She has just enjoyed a good night out with Jake yesterday and he had already agreed to mention the annulment of the engagement to his elders.
The problem was that he knew that his mother preferred Claret and wouldn’t easily accept other women as his wife.
It took Brenda a lot of time to coax him until he’s willing to listen to her.
She was planning to deepen their connection further and also spend more time with Jake, but her mother called her in the morning just to ramble about her brother.
This made Brenda really unhappy.
But she also knew that she had to put on an appearance in front of Jake if she wished for him to truly listen to her and willing to follow her no matter what she did.
And his mother would be more unhappy if she had the label of unfilial on top of her head.
Claret could choose not to be polite to Mrs.
Walker because she’s not her birth mother and the fact that the two of them couldn’t get along well was already well known.
After all, Claret never bother trying to safe Mrs.
Walker’s image but she still has the education of a rich young lady, so she will still treat her relatively polite at times.
But Brenda couldn’t do that.
Because Mrs.
Walker is her birth mother and if she openly go against her mother, it was not known how many people would start talking bad about her.
She’s just a child from Mrs.
Walker’s previous marriage.
So on the surface, she really couldn’t afford to lose this image.
But this didn’t mean that she was happy with her current status quo.
“I don’t choose this path because I want to suffer!” Mrs.
Walker retorted in anger.
If it was possible, she really wanted to eliminate the pain that she suffered right now and make sure that no one could do anything to her.
Brenda snorted.
Knock!
Knock!
“Enter.”
Claret entered the room and the kind expression on Mrs.
Walker that she had just put on immediately crumbled.
“You unfilial daughter!
How come you take such a long time to bring the food!
Do you sleep on the way?
You should have known that you have to do your duties well!
You think you can just walk around, doing whatever you want, like you’re better than everyone?”
Series of scolding and rebuke immediately flowed out of her mouth like water.
Brenda had a mocking expression on her face while Claret just looked at the two mother and daughter with sneer.
Being scolded by this stepmother was so common that Claret could no longer remember any day where she was not being scolded.
Sometimes she would still try to fix her attitude.
But most of the times, she was fed up with the other party.
“I brought you food as per Father’s order.
If you don’t want to eat, I can bring it out again,” Claret said indifferently as she walked inside and put the bag on the table.
She had scanned the room when she entered and saw that it was a very good VVVIP room… well, who knows how many V were there before the VIP words.
She just knew that this was the special wards prepared specifically for the hospital investors.
Even in the medical institution, everything showed how much money could make the world go around.
“Eat!
Of course I want to eat!” Mrs.
Walker interrupted fiercely.
“The food at the hospital is truly bad!
I don’t understand how other people can withstand eating it….”
Seeing that Mrs.
Walker was still scolding without ending, Clare was too lazy to pay attention and immediately turned around.
She pushed the chair on the side slightly so that it would be between Brenda and Mrs.
Walker’s bed.
Her movements were smooth and swift, unnoticed by the other two.
One was still busy scolding and the other one was playing with her phone.
“Where’s Bran?
Father told me to report on his progress,” Claret casually made an excuse.
She needed to go to the laboratory area in order to get some things and started her official career for the Survival Game.
This annoying step brother of hers was truly a good excuse.
“He’s still in the ICU.
You can go there yourself.” Brenda waved her hand lazily, not wanting to pay attention to her.
“Give me the food!
Are you going to starve me to death by putting it on the table instead of giving it to me…”
“Mom!”
Claret naturally saw from the door window’s reflection that Brenda took the food from the bag.
She had noticed that the food was put in an insulated box and based on her food in the morning, it should be soup.
So…
“Ahhhhh!”
“Mom!”
The hot soup spilled on Mrs.
Walker, causing her to scream in pain.
Claret walked out in good mood as if she didn’t hear any of those.
