Masha, showing surprising bravery, guided Lucas’s arms into position.

Lucas watched her with furrowed brows, but his expression softened slightly once I was safely cradled in his arms.

I hate this too!

I flailed my arms and slapped his forearms with all my might.

“What is she doing?”

“She must be very happy.”

Debbie, the head maid, answered.

“Is that so?

This is how she expresses joy?”

“Of course.

Babies who can’t control their bodies yet often flail their arms like that when they’re excited.”

“Humans must find that inconvenient.”

“Pardon?”

The maids, entirely unaware that Lucas was the Demon King, looked utterly bewildered by his comment.

Fortunately, Lucas didn’t hold me for long.

I let out a heavy sigh of relief as I was returned to Masha’s arms.

“Phew…”

For a split second, the corner of Lucas’s mouth twitched upward before flattening back into a straight line.

What was that?

Was he mocking me for trembling?

I’m not afraid of you!

Anyone would shake if they were trapped in a baby’s body and held by a monster who had destroyed the world over a thousand times!

“Ah-bah-bah!

Ah-bah!

Ah-bah-bah!”

As I threw a furious tantrum, Lucas murmured, looking intrigued.

“She really does think I’m her father.

This is going to get exhausting.”

Yet, despite his words, his expression didn’t look annoyed at all, which left the surrounding maids utterly stunned.

As for me, I was just incredibly annoyed.

I don’t think of you as my father, you bastard!

Once Lucas left, the tension drained from my tiny body, and I drifted off to sleep in Masha’s arms.

“How can our little lady look so adorable even when she’s sleeping?”

“I’ve never seen such a beautiful baby in my life.”

“Look at her little tummy rising and falling with every breath.

It’s so chubby and cute.”

“Look at her twitching her lips.”

“Her eyes are fluttering, too.

Do you think she’s dreaming?”

Their whispering woke me up, but I couldn’t bring myself to open my eyes while they were standing there admiring and analyzing my every move.

Besides, I had just had a dream I sorely missed.

“Bliss.

Come here.”

A gentle smile, warm eyes, a kind mouth, and a soft, welcoming hand reached out to me.

“Do you have any idea how much I love you?”

Edwin Kraimer, whispering sweet nothings as he gazed at me with eyes that shone like clear emeralds.

Falling in love with him had been the highlight of my very last life.

He had gently wrapped his warmth around my heart, melting the ice that had built up over countless regressions.
