5 – vol.2 Rose Lychee
A man’s pale, slender hand with distinct knuckles was holding a clean, neatly pressed suit jacket, placing it before her.
The inner collar of the garment showed no label, but judging by its fine texture, it was clearly expensive.
Wen Ruosui froze.
Her heart stirred involuntarily. She hadn’t expected such a cold and distant man to offer her this.
Her gaze drifted upward from the man’s pale hand, all the way to his lightly colored face.
He was tall and slender. From her angle, she could see his sharply defined features and clear jawline. Yet his expression remained cool and detached, devoid of emotion.
There was a particularly mysterious aura about him.
His attire was a restrained, old-fashioned shirt and suit pants, yet he sat alone in this retro-punk-style bar room, doing nothing but quietly looking at his phone.
Suppressing the slight flutter in her heart, Wen Ruosui took the suit jacket and said softly:
“Thank you.”
Putting on the jacket, the oversized suit enveloped her entire body, and her chilled, drenched form instantly felt warm.
The jacket carried a faint scent of pinewood, which was pleasant to smell.
She reached out to adjust the jacket, her fingertips brushing against the dark buttons on the suit, unconsciously rubbing them a few times.
Wen Ruosui wanted to say something more.
But seeing the man, who had already returned to his seat with his cool and detached demeanor, she pursed her lips and ultimately said nothing further.
She turned, pushed open the concealed black door, and quickly left.
Not long after leaving, she received a text message from an unknown number.
“Miss Wen, did you like the gift I gave you?
—ZX.”
Clearly, judging by the signature, this was Zhao Xin’s doing.
Within seconds, two more messages arrived, also from Zhao Xin.
“You’re about to break up, yet you’re still making things difficult for Ah Heng. I’ve never seen such an inconsiderate ex-girlfriend.”
“Do you think a public apology on social media means anything? Let me tell you, it’ll only make Ah Heng dislike you even more.”
That shameless Zhao Xin.
All she had done was ask Yan Heng to apologize, and they resorted to such underhanded tactics to retaliate against her.
Wen Ruosui hadn’t expected Zhao Xin, a regional director of a major company, to have such a low and dirty way of doing things. Fortunately, she had reacted quickly and was only drenched, with no real harm done to her body.
Wen Ruosui didn’t reply to the messages. She couldn’t be bothered to waste words on such a malicious woman and instead went straight to the police station to file a report.
At the police’s request, the bar cooperated fully and immediately provided surveillance footage.
The two sleazy men were arrested by the police a few days later. Both were repeat offenders, with long criminal records, and were no strangers to the police.
Perhaps because they had received a hefty sum of hush money, and since no real harm had been done, the two men were indifferent to admitting guilt but flatly denied being instructed by anyone else.
After reviewing the footage, the police made their judgment, saying, “Since the victim wasn’t injured, the punishment for the perpetrators won’t be severe. Generally, they’ll be charged with creating a disturbance and sentenced to a period of detention.”
“As for the person behind it, without relevant evidence, it’s difficult for the police to file a case, and no punishment can be imposed.”
Wen Ruosui had anticipated this outcome.
She had come to report the incident only to seek justice.Even if she hadn’t been injured, she couldn’t let the two men who had attempted to harm her go unpunished. Although they were only detained for now, it was enough.
As for Zhao Xin behind it all.
The police couldn’t help her, but that didn’t mean she would swallow her grievances.
When wronged, others might bury their feelings deep inside and deal with them alone. But she was different—she would openly and rightfully seek revenge.
Upon learning the outcome, Wen Ruosui returned home and immediately turned on her computer. She uploaded all the chat records between Yan Heng and Zhao Xin, then wrote a passage describing everything that had happened.
However, chat records alone weren’t enough to definitively expose these two.
She rested her chin on her hand, pondering other clues.
Where else could she find evidence of their affair?
Wen Ruosui picked up her phone and swiped through the home screen. When she saw the built-in cloud account, a sudden idea struck her.
She opened the cloud account webpage on her computer and entered Yan Heng’s username. As for the password—
After trying a few guesses, she unexpectedly stumbled upon the correct one.
She scrolled down page by page with her mouse. Sure enough, Yan Heng’s cloud account stored many selfies of the two, and even some eye-watering videos that were downright disgusting.
She watched coldly while pressing the save button.
Videos, photos, chat records.
Now she had everything.
Wen Ruosui compiled the chat records, photos, and video screenshots, along with the “solemn vows” Yan Heng had once made, into a PDF file. She then emailed it to the executives and numerous employees of Joyful Tech to report Yan Heng. However, she carefully removed some of her personal information.
Thanks to internet technology and the reputation of Joyful Tech as a major company, the matter quickly spread online. Within a day, it had blown up into a trending social news story.
With such ironclad evidence, netizens naturally sided with her.
“Poor girl. Years of feelings can’t compare to an older woman in the workplace. Such a scumbag isn’t worth keeping.”
“It seems character isn’t tied to education or profession. Stay away from scumbags, girl. You’re better off alone. Why cling to one tree when there’s a whole forest out there?”
“Men from big companies aren’t necessarily reliable. Everyone should keep their eyes open.”
“There are countless scumbags out there, too many to count.”
…
Reading these comments, Wen Ruosui didn’t feel particularly uplifted. Instead, she felt a sense of melancholy.
The day after the report was sent, Yan Heng came straight to her shop to confront her.
“Wen Ruosui, you went back on your word!”
Though an engineering graduate, Yan Heng had a handsome face. He wore glasses and was dressed in the familiar white shirt.
It was supposed to be a clean color, but at that moment, she found him utterly filthy.
His face twisted into an extremely ferocious expression as he hurled unreasonable accusations, word by word: “You clearly said you wouldn’t make it public, so what’s all this online?!”
“Now my reputation is completely ruined, and HR is about to deal with me. Are you happy now? Are you?!”
This man before her—
Despicable.
Dark.
Deceitful.
Every ounce of human wickedness was embodied in him.
Wen Ruosui looked at him with a cold sneer. This Yan Heng is truly biting the hand that feeds him. Clearly, he is the one who did wrong, yet in the end, he is still questioning her, showing no sign of remorse at all—it’s simply too much to bear.
She is not a cowardly person. These baseless accusations—she must fight back against them.
