Yancheng, Aojia Club.
Bizarre, motley lights accompanied a deafening rhythm, casting eerie rays all around. The faces of the men and women on the dance floor were filled with obsession and intoxication.
No one noticed a slender, graceful dark shadow gliding lightly through the crowd. A perfect smile curled at the corners of her lips, one enough to enchant the masses.
Inside a secluded small private booth on the far left of the third floor.
Feng Wanwan looked at the woman in the mirror—clad in a black skintight suit that hugged her curvaceous figure—and couldn’t help but indulge in a bit of narcissism. “Tsk tsk, a natural stunner. Whoever marries me will hit the jackpot!”
Having said that, she reluctantly turned away from the mirror. She deftly looped a black iron wire, as thin as a strand of hair, around the window frame, climbed out, and slid down the wire.
She clung to the outside of a second-floor booth window like a spider. With eyes hidden behind a special mask, she sharply confirmed the identities of the two people inside before drawing the handgun from her waist without hesitation.
Bang!
Bang!
Two muffled gunshots rang out in quick succession.
One died on the spot, while the other was hit in the arm. Blood splattered everywhere as he screamed in agony.
“Damn it!” She had actually missed the kill shot.
But there was no time left. She quickly holstered her gun and leaped down, agile as a cat, disappearing into the night.
When the bodyguards stationed outside the booth burst in, they only saw the flash of a figure wearing a bizarre mask outside the window.
“Call an ambulance! The rest of you, move! Pursue them!”
Feng Wanwan retreated quickly, but the pursuit behind her was just as fast. They were all specially trained bodyguards. To shake them off quickly, she had to find help.
And this help, of course, would be found on the fly.
“Don’t move!”
At the entrance of a dark alley, inside an unassuming black sedan, Feng Wanwan was threatening the man in the back seat with a sharp little dagger pressed against his throat.
She was still wearing her mask, which covered everything above her lips. Her clothing was restrictive and modest, not even leaving her neck exposed; only her exquisite chin and lips, coated in chocolate-colored lipstick, were visible.
The man held at knifepoint was also dressed in black and was wearing a pair of sunglasses even at night. He showed no fear or panic despite her threat. Through his sunglasses, he stared deeply at the woman who had suddenly burst into his car, his voice low and heavy. “What do you want?”
Feng Wanwan had met all sorts of people, and she could tell from his aura alone that he was no saint. Furthermore, he carried the scent of blood she knew all too well; it was obvious he was injured.
She suddenly had a bad premonition that the helper she had randomly chosen tonight might be a troublesome character. However, the situation was urgent, and she couldn’t afford to back out and find someone else to serve as a hostage.
“Search there! Faster!”
Just then, the voice of the bodyguard captain drifted in from outside.
Feng Wanwan’s sharp eyes scanned the exterior. She suddenly leaned forward, keeping only a palm’s width of distance from the man. Her voice, deliberately altered to be rough and raspy, reached his ears. “How about we make a deal?”
The man had already guessed that she was the target of the people outside. He glanced down at the dagger at his throat and looked at her askance. “What makes you think I’ll agree?”
“Based on your injuries!”
Feng Wanwan looked down at his abdomen. Even though the light in the car was dim, she could tell at a glance that he was wounded there, and he was still bleeding.
The scent of blood in the car was thick, and she was certain his injury was significant. She continued, “Those people outside are chasing me. I imagine your enemies are nearby as well. How about we cooperate and shake them all off together?”
“What makes you think I need to cooperate with you to shake off my enemies?”
The man’s voice remained cold. His sharp gaze landed on the pattern of her mask, tracing it mentally.
“You might be able to shake off your own enemies, but now that you’re with me, we’re two grasshoppers on the same string. My enemies will also be your enemies. Can you shake off both groups of people?”
Feng Wanwan didn’t feel her actions were despicable in the slightest, nor did she show any nervousness while threatening him.
“Heh.” The man suddenly let out a cold laugh. “Bartering with a tiger for its skin is no different from drinking poison to quench one’s thirst.”
Feng Wanwan didn’t care that he was describing her as a man-eating tiger. The cold dagger pressed against his neck as a roguish curve touched the corners of her mouth. “Do you have any other choice right now besides cooperating with the tiger?”
“Whether I do or not—we’ll know once we try.”
As soon as he finished speaking, his hands, which had been hanging at his sides, suddenly moved. His right hand struck her wrist with force.
Feng Wanwan’s reaction speed was fast, but she was still a beat slower than him. Her wrist went numb from the strike, and the dagger fell from her hand.
Before she could act, the man’s strong, powerful hand grabbed her wrist. Feng Wanwan quickly threw a punch with her other hand, but that was also caught by him. Her body was pulled forward by his grip, and in her loss of balance, her upper body fell onto him. Their bodies were pressed tightly together.
A woman’s unique softness pressed against his chest, and a pleasant, fresh fragrance wafted into his nose, causing his usually steady and self-controlled heart to skip a beat.
The man stared blankly at this woman who had suddenly disrupted his composure.
“Let go of me!” Feng Wanwan growled.
Her voice was cold. The man snapped back to his senses and unconsciously released his grip.
Once freed, Feng Wanwan quickly leaned back. Her sharp eyes swept over this highly skilled man, and she fearlessly swung her gloved fists at him.
The man responded quickly, raising his own fists to counter.
Thud!
Both pairs of fists carried ten-tenths of their strength. The impact sent both of them recoiling into the car doors.
Feeling their fists trembling, they looked at each other with almost identical looks of disbelief. After less than a second of eye contact, they both surged forward in a tacit agreement to brawl.
Thud… Bang…
“Ugh…”
Inside the car, the two of them treated each other as enemies, brawling fiercely within the cramped space. The sound of fists hitting flesh and muffled groans of pain were constant. The noise was so loud that it drew the attention of the pursuing bodyguard captain and his men.
Seeing the small car rocking violently and hearing the low, suppressed groans of a man and a woman coming from inside, the bodyguard captain shouted toward the car with a dark face, “Can’t you people just spend a few hundred bucks on a hotel?”
Inside the car, Feng Wanwan, who had just taken a punch, instantly understood the implication of his words. Her pretty face flushed red with anger. While aiming a fist at the man, she hollered toward the outside, “We like it this way! What’s it to you?”
The man had just been kicked in his abdominal wound and was currently grimacing in pain. Hearing the woman’s deliberate answer, he was so angry he wanted to strangle her, and a chilling aura emanated from his entire body.
The light in the car was very dim, so Feng Wanwan didn’t notice his expression. Catching him off guard, she lunged forward to pin him down, sitting her bottom right on his lap. Her fingers gripped his throat as she threatened him in a very low voice.
“If we keep fighting, it won’t benefit anyone. The people outside are killers. If we fall into their hands, we’re both dead.”
The man was already injured, and after several rounds of fighting with her, his wound had torn open again. He could feel his clothes and pants being soaked through with blood. If this continued, he would lose too much blood; he really might end up done for here.
However, the thought of being threatened by this woman today filled him with immense displeasure.
And looking at her sitting on his lap in such a bold posture, he felt an indescribable sense of annoyance and shame. He growled at her, “Get off.”
His aura was so imposing that even a woman who feared nothing like Feng Wanwan was momentarily stunned. However, she recovered in less than a second.
Noticing her sitting position, she quickly released his throat and nimbly slid off him. She didn’t forget to snap back, “I just sat on your lap for a second, it’s not like I took advantage of you.”
Ignoring the man’s darkened face, she sat back in the adjacent seat as if nothing had happened. She watched the people outside gather at the alley entrance, saw them exchange some words, and then all of them retreated the way they came, heading back toward the club.
