"Ahhh!!"
A piercing, agonizing shriek echoed. Abigail thrashed and wailed as Nova dragged her out of the front door and into the paved courtyard, pulling her mercilessly by the roots of her hair.
An evil smile spread across Nova’s face. She released her grip, letting her sister collapse onto the hard stone, and squatted beside her. Grabbing Abigail’s chin in a vice-like grip, she forced the trembling girl to look up.
"I’m not some kind of fragile pushover," Nova said, her voice a deadly whisper. "When you sold me, you must have imagined the worst possible outcome for yourself, right?" Her smile widened, revealing a row of perfect, pearly white teeth that now looked utterly predatory.
"What do you think you are doing, Anah?! She is your sister! Leave her alone right now!" Mr. Brown shouted in panic. He stood frozen at the entrance alongside his wife and the black-haired man, completely paralyzed by fear. None of them dared to take a single step closer.
Nova threw her head back and laughed wildly. "Spare me that name! ’Anah’, it annoys me," she snapped, shooting a terrifying glare at the parents. "Oh, and you two aren’t too old to have another daughter. I suggest you start preparing now, because I promise you... you will never want this one again." She turned her glowing blue eyes back to the terrified Abigail pinned beneath her.
"Sis... Sister, I was wrong! Please, spare me!" Abigail sobbed in horror, hot tears streaming down her face. "I will never cross your path again! Please!"
"Anah, do not hurt your sister! Whatever conflict you two have, we will solve it inside!" Mrs. Brown pleaded, her voice choking on her own terror. "I will make her apologize to you on her knees!"
Nova chuckled lightly, a sound devoid of any humanity. "Can an apology reverse time? Can it undo me being sold like livestock?" she murmured, tilting her head. "I’m not looking for an apology. I just want to see if the color of her blood matches my favorite shade of red."
Without a second of hesitation, Nova raised her empty hand high into the air. With a faint digital hum, a small, sharp dagger materialized out of nowhere into her grasp. In one ruthless motion, she thrust the blade directly into Abigail’s left eye.
"Ahhhhhh!!"
"Abigail!" Mr. and Mrs. Brown shrieked in horror. Their eyes bulged in disbelief, tears spilling down their faces as they watched the gruesome scene unfold, yet they dare not take a step forward.
"Mom! Dad! Help me! My eye!" Abigail wailed, thrashing wildly on the ground. She desperately clawed at the air, begging for a savior that wouldn’t come.
Fresh, hot blood oozed from the ruined socket, splashing upward and painting half of Nova’s face in crimson.
"Ah! That’s the color, haha, that’s the feeling!!" Nova mocked, a psychotic laughter escaping her lips. Without missing a beat, she raised the dripping dagger and plunged it mercilessly into Abigail’s right eye.
"Ahhhhhhh!"
Abigail’s screams turn into a breathless howl of agony. Her body froze in shock and regret. In a matter of seconds, she was completely blind.
"Anah, how could you be so cruel?! You are a monster!" Mrs. Brown shouted, collapsing against her husband.
Nova didn’t even bother to spare a glance over her shoulder. The devilish smile on her lips didn’t disappear. The bloody dagger vanished from her hand without a trace, and she instantly grabbed Abigail by the throat.
"I’m cruel? No... I’m not. Abigail, tell them how wonderful you’re feeling right now!" Nova commanded cheerfully.
Before Abigail could even gasp for air, Nova delivered a bone shattering punch to the side of Abigail’s head. The force of the blow lifted her off the ground, sending her crashing violently into the side of the parked luxury car.
Crunch.
The heavy metal of the car door caved inward on impact. Abigail crumpled to the pavement, vomiting a massive mouthful of blood. Her consciousness slowly fading, her limbs feeling like heavy lead.
"Please... please spare me," Abigail whispered weakly, hovering on the very edge of death. "I... I just acted out of jealousy. I’ll never repeat it. Please let me go."
Nova chuckled softly. She closed the distance, grabbing Abigail by her arms. With a quick crack, she twisted her limbs, effortlessly snapping the bones and leaving both of Abigail’s arms completely useless.
"Apologies are useless," Nova whispered soothingly. "But don’t worry. I promised not to let you die, and I always keep my promises."
Nova released the broken arms and grabbed Abigail by her left leg. She turned her head, flashing a grin at the terrified parents.
"Are you two really this stupid, or do you just not care about her at all? She’s almost dead! Call the police! Haha!" she laughed crazily, at the same time twisting her leg.
Snap.
She broke Abigail’s leg with her bare hands.
"Ahhhhh! Mom! Save me, please!" Abigail shrieked, her expensive clothes now entirely soaked in her own blood.
"Right! The police!" Mr. Brown yelled, trying to pull his phone from his pocket with shaking hands.
Watching the scene, the black-haired man’s brows knitted deeply. Unable to stand by any longer, he stepped forward, reaching out to grab Nova’s wrist.
But he was stopped in his tracks.
Nova reacted with blinding speed. Another dagger, longer and sharper than the first appeared in her grasp. Before he could blink, the cold steel was pressed against his throat.
"Trust me, I don’t mind wearing a little more red," Nova said, laughing devilishly into his face.
The man immediately threw both of his hands into the air, his dark eyes wide. "I am not plotting against you. You need to get into the car. I will get you out of here before the police arrive," he offered urgently.
"Aren’t you one of them? Mr police" Nova chuckled.
The man completely froze. "I clearly disguised myself perfectly. How could she possibly know?" he panicked internally. "Is she just guessing?" He stared deeply into Nova’s glowing blue eyes, searching for answers.
"Stay out of this, Raymond," she whispered, her voice dangerously sweet. "You look pretty, and I hate injuring pretty men." She said.
Ignoring him, she turned back to Abigail, squatting over her broken body. She began stabbing her repeatedly, burying the blade into her torso and legs as if puncturing a soft foam cushion—yet, miraculously, none of the strikes seemed fatal.
Raymond’s jaw widened in shock. "She even knows my real name! Who on earth is she?!" he thought, watching the violence unfold.
"Nobody move!"
A strong voice shattered the chaos, followed instantly by the wail of sirens. Several police officers in black tactical uniforms surrounded the courtyard, completely surrounding the estate with their weapons drawn.
Finding their courage in the presence of the authorities, Mr. and Mrs. Brown rushed to hide behind the wall of officers.
"Arrest that evil child! She killed my daughter!" Mrs. Brown sobbed, pointing a trembling finger at Nova.
Nova paused. Half of her beautiful face was smeared with dark crimson. Slowly, the psychotic smile melted away.
In the blink of an eye, her entire demeanor shifted. She dropped the dagger—which dissolved into thin air—and scrambled backward, hiding timidly behind Raymond’s tall frame. She pointed a shaking, bloodstained finger at the paralyzed Abigail.
"She... she attacked me! She wanted to kill me!" Nova stuttered. Her voice was suddenly high, terrified, and painfully meek. In an instant, she had transformed back into a gentle, powerless little girl traumatized by violence.
"Do not try to twist the truth, you bastard! Where is the footage?! Bring the officers the security footage!" Mr. Brown roared.
A terrified maid came sprinting out of the house and pass the laptop to Mr Brown.
Clutching the laptop. "Here... please check the cameras, Officer!". Mr Brown handed it over to the officer.
The lead officer snatched the laptop, hitting play on the security feed. Strangely, the screen flickered with a faint, blue glitch. The footage that played showed the exact opposite of reality: it displayed Abigail lunging at Nova like a rabid animal, before bizarrely turning a weapon on herself in a fit of manic rage.
The officer’s brow furrowed tightly. Confused, he turned the screen around to face the father.
Mr. Brown watched the video, his jaw dropping in absolute horror. "What is going on? This... this is impossible!" He stared at the trembling Nova as if she were a ghost.
"Examine my daughter’s body! She was stabbed dozens of times by that evil girl! Even her eyes were gouged out!" Mr. Brown accused frantically.
Two officers quickly approached Abigail’s motionless body. They scanned her thoroughly. Strangely, there was not a single stab wound on her torso or legs. Even more impossible—her ruined, blood-crusted eyes looked as though they had been blind and scarred for years, not freshly injured.
"Mr. Brown..." the lead officer began, his tone turning highly suspicious.
Before he could finish, Abigail suddenly snapped out of her paralyzed state. Blind, broken, and driven to total madness by the pain, she forced herself up onto her fractured legs and lunged blindly in Nova’s direction.
"I’ll kill you!" Abigail shrieked, she look like her body was being controlled by something.
Officers tackled her instantly, subduing her against the pavement.
"Mr. and Mrs. Brown," the lead officer commanded, his voice turning cold. "The video evidence clearly shows that Miss Abigail attacked your younger daughter, and then inflicted harm upon herself. Furthermore, you will both be coming down to the station. According to this footage, you stood by and watched the attack with excitement."
"What?! No! We didn’t! We were terrified! Please, you have to investigate this properly!" Mrs. Brown cried, fighting against the officer snapping cuffs onto her wrists.
