Surely Clayton Grey may have been rejected by a girl before.
There’s no way…
She stared at him and then realized, the man was too handsome to get rejected.
Even though she had no feelings for him, her heart skipped at the sight of him.
The way he stared at her made her shiver.
Truly, she preferred him with his eyes closed.
He looked those men that would have tons of women lined up for him.
The car door opened as a guard carried their boss on his shoulder and into the mansion.
Miles helped his boss’s new wife into the mansion.
He didn’t know what Clayton was up to when he suddenly stopped the car at the center of the road.
Miles had thought the crazy woman had killed his boss, but it turns out she didn’t.
His crazy boss got rejected and decided to act sick all of a sudden.
He sighed…
Who knew Clayton Grey of all people, had a childish side?
Maeve stared at the huge mansion before her in awe.
This mansion was ten times the size of the Orchard family house Fred always bragged about.
“T…
This is not a hospital.” She paused in her steps, staring at the massive building before her eyes.
“My master hates hospitals.
He’s always treated at home.” Maeve hesitated a little before walking into the building with Miles by her side.
“Oh, boss, what really happened to him.” She heard a cry as stepped in.
It was a woman talking with a man in black suit.
The moment he saw them, he smiled and bowed a little.
“Welcome to the Grey’s mansion madam.” He said.
“I am Jefferson, the butler of this place.
This is Maria, the housekeeper and head maid.” He introduced and Maeve nodded.
It’s not like she would be using the information after tonight.
“Please come with me Miss Maeve while we wait for the doctor.
You must not leave my boss’s side.
If you have made his condition worse, then be ready to face the consequences.” Miles said as he led her up the stairs.
Maeve was silent all through.
All she did was reject him.
Was that now a crime.
They arrived at a room and Miles pushed the door open for her to step in.
Maeve stared at the man on the bed, her heart racing.
She couldn’t have killed him.
What man dies from rejection?
A doctor stepped in almost immediately.
He was old, wearing a brown coat with a briefcase in his hands.
The center of his head was bald.
Maeve watched him attend to Clayton who was still on the bed unconscious.
She saw the man place a drip in his hand.
“Your master has gotten worse.
I thought we just did a new transplant?” The man asked and Miles nodded.
“I’m confused too.
Nothing should affect him anymore.” Miles said.
“Does he smoke?” Miles shook his head at the doctor’s words.
“Does he drink?” Miles also shook his head.
“He only takes ice.” He responded and the doctor scratched the back of his head.
Then Miles turned to Maeve.
“Miss Davis, are you sure you didn’t say anything to him?” He asked again.
“I…
I.” This was her chance to deny everything and walk away.
But Maeve was too good.
Besides, she was the only one with him at the time, there’s no way she could escape this.
“H…
he asked me to be his wife and I rejected him.” Miles pressed his forehead with his forefingers.
The doctor smacked his head so hard a couple of times.
“Clayton Grey doesn’t get rejected.
Do you want to kill him?” Miles asked and innocent Maeve didn’t know what to say.
She had no idea he couldn’t take rejection because of his health.
But who the hell in Summerlane takes her seriously.
She had only been joking when she asked him to marry her that day.
She had no idea that was even the real Clayton Grey.
“You were the one to ask him out, and you rejected him?” Miles asked, then he turned to the doctor.
“What worse can we prepare for doctor?”
“Mr Grey might be paralyzed for life after these.
You must keep him happy at all times.” The doctor said and Miles sighed.
“That is up to Miss Davis to do.
This is your responsibility now.” Maeve’s eyes turned wide.
How did her life turn out like this?
She wasn’t prepared for another marriage, and worst of all, one with a crippled scary man who stared right into her soul.
“I should leave you all now.
I’ll be back by morning to see his condition.
By then, there should be improvements.” The doctor said and started walking away.
“I can’t marry him or take care of him.” Maeve said to Miles.
“Well you brought this on my master.
Master Clayton is the only heir of the Grey family.
The Grey family don’t play about him, so if they hear he got rejected by you, they’ll hunt you down.” Maeve felt like fainting.
It’s enough Fred Orchard was after her, adding the Grey family to her problem is definitely not what she wants.
“I…
I’ll take good care of him.
But I’m not getting married to him.” Maeve said.
“Who are you leaving him for?” Miles asked and she looked up at him.
“You have ruined my master for life young lady, you will be married to him.
He’s now your responsibility.”
“Wait here, I’ll get the marriage contract for you to go over it.” He walked away.
In a few minutes, he brought the contract and handed it to her.
“Go over it carefully before signing.
We cannot make any adjustments, but go over it.” Maeve took the document from him as she started reading through it.
The first contract agreement states that, Party A is sexually active and must relive himself through party B four times a week.
Maeve froze.
How will Clayton even have his way with her when he cannot even walk anymore?
She almost laughed at how funny it sounded.
