Ryder
My hand on her neck moved to the back of her head, my fingers tangling in her hair, while the other she had moved grabbed a handful of her ass.
She parted her lips, a gasp leaving them but I didn’t allow a sound escape as I muffled it with a bruising kiss, my tongue meeting hers.
Her taste exploded on my lips making me dizzy, even as my lips pressed more urgently against hers.
Something in the back of my head was telling me that this wasn’t right, that I should put space between us, but the voice became background noise muffled by yet another soft moan leaving Isla’s mouth.
My hand on her ass trailed to the underside of her heavy breast through her fabric.
My tongue was thorough even as she slowly and curiously began to meet the strokes of my lips, yet I was beyond greedy.
And as she moaned, her soft body pressing against mine, I’m fully aware of the way I’m getting hard against her stomach.
I paused, then pushed her off me, dazed.
Her breath is as ragged as mine, her lips red and swollen, her eyes wide with lust.
Then her lashes fluttered dazedly before the tip of her tongue swiped at her lower lip.
It was a quick movement.
Blink and I’d have missed it.
I wished I did.
She was still looking at me, when she smiled.
“Still seeing wings?”
“Isla,” I cleared my throat, my voice sounded like a plea.
“And stars.”
She grinned and was crawling back to me while I stared at her expectantly like a fool.
Then I tensed, snapping back into reality and remembering all the reasons why she shouldn’t be looking at me like that.
Isla
Ryder hastily got to his feet putting distance between us.
“Stop looking at me like that.”
“Like what?” I murmured, my eyes moving over his face.
Although I’d been the one to initiate the kiss, I had realized seconds in that I was pulling above my weight class.
That wasn’t a kiss the same way what had happened between us earlier today wasn’t a hug.
Everything with Ryder is intense and all consuming….
and should make me rethink my plan.
But it was also mind-blowing.
And I was curious about other things between us that he’d turn into more.
Like teaching.
“This was a mistake.” He said.
I bit my lower lips, “Let’s make it one more time.”
His lips parted in incredulity.
“If you told me that we’d be having an argument about a kiss and this is the side I’d be on, I’d have laughed in your face,” he frowned.
“But Isla this is wrong.
We’re about to be a family.
People like us don’t kiss each other.”
My nose was scrunched.
“You said you didn’t consider me one,”
“Doesn’t make a difference.”
I was quiet for a moment.
When I’d first thought of my plan, I hadn’t expected Ryder to say race you to the bed, but I’d also not expected such firm protest.
But I had been in the debating team for three years, won first place twice.
Perhaps I was inexperienced with kissing, but arguments were my lane.
I changed my tactics.
“But family should help each other, right?”
“What do you mean?”
“Well, you said hugging me today had helped,” I started.
“Imagine if you get to hold me every night.
That’d be more effective, don’t you think?”
His eyes are narrowed.
“What’s the catch?”
I shrugged.
“You help me too.”
He stops pacing the room to glance at me, “I’d be helping you by kissing the daylight out of you?”
I pursed my lips, “We could even do more.”
He froze.
“Goddess, Isla what the fuck do you want from me?”
“Teach me what you like in bed too, Ryder.”
He hissed through his teeth, “Who the fuck have you been talking to?”
“Please…” I whispered.
“No.”
“No?” I asked in disbelief.
“Of course not.” he echoed.
“What do you mean by no?
You have sex with practically everybody else.” I was being irrational but it was maddening.
It was almost like there was something about me that made me repelling whenever it comes to sexual acts.
“You’re not everybody else.
You’re sweet Isla, cute Isla.
Innocent Isla.” He put his hands over his face and groaned.
“Soon to be my stepsister Isla.”
“Well this version of Isla is not going to get me my boyfriend back.” I replied.
He stiffened, a scowl now on his face.
“Of course,” he murmured.
“What was I even thinking?
Of course he is the only reason I’m suddenly good enough to touch you.” He scoffed.
“I want him back, Ryder.”
“I don’t give a bloody fuck,” he cursed, his voice raised.
It was almost imperceptible but I flinched, jerking back.
He tracked the movement, his jaws were clenched but his next words were softer:
“Isla, don’t change who you are for a boy that doesn’t even know who he is or what he wants.”
“I love that boy, Ryder,” my eyes glistened with unshed tears, my next words laced with desperation.
“I can’t lose him.”
“Are you out of your goddamn mind?” he asked.
“What do you hope to learn from someone fucked in the head as I am?”
“Only the very bad stuff,” I promised.
A growl ripped from his throat.
“This is fucking serious, Isla.” he warned.
I met his eyes.
“I’m not joking, Ryder.
Teach me how to please.”
He groaned, it was low and desperate, I felt it between my thighs.
“Don’t say things you barely understand.”
“I could even call you, Alpha.” I offered instantly.
“Isla?” He looked pissed.
Well, more pissed.
“I was joking,” I lied.
“Were you?” he asked hopefully.
I bit my lower lip and shook my head.
He cursed under his breath.
“And they say temptations are only given to tough warriors?
I’m so weak.” Then his face was serious as he took a seat opposite me.
“Isla?”
I perked up, alight with hope.
“Yes.”
“When you find your boyfriend cheating, there is only one thing to do, dump his lying and cheating ass.
You don’t try to reinvent yourself, you don’t ask the woman he cheats on you with to let you have him and you certainly don’t ask to be taught to please such a man.
You can’t keep something capable of free will and mobility.”
