Ryder
When I’d opened my eyes the sun was up and the side of the bed where Isla had lied on was cold enough to suggest that she had left my bed long ago, although my bedsheet now smelt like cinnamon and apple.
Even as I shamelessly inhaled, I couldn’t help but notice the significant difference in how I felt.
My head was clearer than it had been in a long time, and my wolf no longer restlessly tried to shove me away, but had receded to the back of my mind, soothed.
While in the shower, even though I’d first picked up on how much Isla affected my wolf, her scent and touch had been much more potent than I expected.
For a moment, I couldn’t help but be in awe of how capable Isla was at pulling off such a calming influence on my wolf—something countless omegas before her, renowned for their soothing ability, had failed to achieve.
I stepped into the kitchen, my hair still damp to find a legible, cursive note stuck to the refrigerator.
I’m at the pack house.
Mum needs my opinion on her wedding plans.
Microwave the burrito for 1 minute and 30 seconds then flip it over and microwave for another 30-45 seconds.
PS: Remove the foil!

For the first time, the reminder of my father’s impending second marriage didn’t make me feel like I’d just swallowed lead.
I grinned.
So what if she thinks that I needed instructions on how to work a microwave?
She was finally accepting my nickname for her, the weather was great and I felt alive again.
I stepped outside and even though it had been a long time since I went running in the morning, I couldn’t help the urge when I broke into one.
I easily completed a lap around the partially secluded property in my body, but by the second lap, letting my wolf free had been instinctive.
Easy.
And then I ran.
I sprinted around the rocky terrain, running up, down and around the property yipping playfully like an unleashed massive dog, heedless of the mud or stone.
The scent of crushed grass, Isla’s scent—she must have ran this same path earlier today—damp stone and other wolves filled my nose.
I raced against the wind and when I howled at the sky—a call to pack, I felt elation tightly wound around my chest when I heard the howling replies.
The first thing I did when I shifted back was flush my bottle of suppressant.
There was no way I was going to be taking any more of the pill.
Seems like I’d just have to help Isla like she’d suggested.
Corrupting sweet little Isla… was going to be the easiest aid I’ve ever rendered.
My phone rang almost immediately after I’d made my decision.
It was dad.
He wanted us to go camping, just the both of us next weekend.
It was partly guilt and also the fact that I was in a better mood as a result of Isla that made agreeing easy.
My father was going to try to kill me if he knew, and this time it wouldn’t be an accident.
Isla
It was almost dusk when I finally returned home.
It’d taken a while to convince mum that we didn’t have to decide on every detail of her wedding in one day and picking between daisies and peonies for her wedding bouquet wasn’t exactly a crisis and could be continued some other day.
Ryder was reclining on a sofa, his eyes fixated on me when I walked into the house.
“You’re back late,” he drawled.
I settled into a cushioned chair beside him and sighed, “Turns out that trying to pick an option from a wedding binder with a bride that wants a little of everything can be time consuming.
I almost—”
“Isla,” It was my name, and I’d heard it all my life, yet the sensual drawl of his voice made it sound like something foreign.
Words eluded me.
“I’m going to ask you one question and I want you to think carefully before you answer it.
Because once you do, nothing between us is going to remain the same, my little Pip.”
“Go ahead.” It was a breathless rasp.
I cleared my throat.
His eyes casually dragged through my body deliberately while I held my breath.
“Do you really want to be my plaything?
Learn how to please me, do anything and everything I want without question or doubt?”
A second passed, then another.
His plaything?
“I don’t understand what you’re asking me?” I cleared my throat again.
“I wanted you to teach me how to please you, I didn’t agree to being…” I trailed off, not able to say the word aloud.
“My whore,” the words rolled out of his tongue with unnerving ease, a smile lifting his cheeks.
“To please me, you’d be willing to do anything I tell you, give me anything…” he cocked his brow, “If I ask you to touch yourself, your hands should immediately be pushing your panties aside,” he sat up, my heart drummed.
“If I ask you to strip, you cannot be rid of your clothes fast enough,” his voice became gruff.
“I ask you to jump, you ask how high?
Complete obedience, Isla, else I’d leave and we can pretend that this conversation never took place.
The ball is in your court.”
What he was suggesting both scared and thrilled me.
My pulse skittered, then missed a beat.
It was the pulse between my legs.
I sat up, pressing my thighs together.
“There’s no limit?”
