“We don’t have to run,” Derek said.
Everyone looked at him.
“It already knows where we are.
It could get to us whenever it wants.” His eyes narrowed.
“But it hasn’t.
It’s playing with us.”
“Fuck it.” Leon clenched his fist, looking at his car parts thrown all over the classroom.
“Let’s fight it.”
“Agreed.”
Derek gave a firm nod.
“What?
Are you two insane?” Stiles stared at them like they had lost their minds.
“Did you see how big that thing was?”
“Guys, I really don’t think that’s a good idea.”
“We can take him,” Derek insisted.
“Together.”
Leon didn’t answer.
Instead, he raised his hand.
A second later, weapons began appearing in the air, neatly arranged across the classroom tables.
Guns.
Ammunition.
Explosives.
Stiles immediately shook his head.
“No.
No, no, no.”
He pointed at the weapons.
“If that thing can reach us whenever it wants but is choosing not to…” He looked between them.
“Why would we be the ones to provoke it?”
“He’s right,” Scott added.
“You saw how fast it was.
The second it decides to stop playing around, we’ll have no chance to react.”
Leon watched them argue.
Part of him wanted to fight.
A big part.
But if he was being honest, the destroyed pieces of his car scattered were heavily influencing that decision.
That Alpha had thrown his car around like a toy.
And Leon really wanted to return the favor.
Still, his memories of the show kept bothering him.
Peter had attacked Derek at the beginning for a reason.
He wanted to eliminate a potential threat before Scott and Derek could join forces against him.
But now…
Leon wasn’t sure that’s what was happening.
Having twice the stats of a Beta Werewolf didn’t mean an Alpha was only worth two Betas.
That assumption was completely wrong.
Now that Leon had experienced the pressure of an Alpha firsthand, he understood.
Even if four Betas attacked together, they might be able to put up a fight.
But in the end…
They would all die.
“Fine.” Leon sighed and shook his head.
“We leave first.”
“Yes!” Stiles immediately relaxed.
“Now you’re speaking my language.”
“But I do have one question.”
Leon looked at Scott.
“Why did you lure it out if you weren’t prepared to fight it?”
The question had bothered him since the first time he watched the show.
It never made sense.
Scott scratched his head awkwardly.
“Ah…”
He looked away.
“I thought maybe we could take it on at the start.”
He glanced toward the broken window.
“But now that I’ve actually seen it…”
Scott sighed.
“I changed my mind.”
“Idiots.”
Derek grabbed a shotgun, a pistol, and several grenades from the table.
Before anyone could stop him, he walked toward the classroom exit.
“Derek, don’t go!” Scott shouted.
“Let’s just think about this!”
“Keep thinking.”
Derek loaded the shotgun.
“I have some questions for that thing.”
Without waiting for a response, he turned and disappeared down the hallway.
The remaining three watched him leave.
Stiles slowly shook his head.
“Damn…” He sighed.
“RIP Derek.”
“Shut up, Stiles.”
Scott sighed as well.
After a moment, Stiles looked around at the weapons covering the tables.
“I have a question.”
He pointed at the arsenal.
“Where the hell did you get all of this?”
***********
Leon, Stiles, and Scott moved through the school halls, following the distant sounds of gunfire and shouting.
The closer they got, the clearer the aftermath became.
They found Derek slumped against a wall, his chest injured and blood running from the corner of his mouth.
His weapons lay scattered nearby.
“Is…
is he dead?” Stiles asked.
“No.” Leon walked over to Derek and crouched beside him.
“He’s unconscious.”
He reached into Derek’s coat and retrieved the grenades before picking up the damaged shotgun and pistol.
“He tried to fight back, but…” Leon glanced at the state of the weapons.
“I don’t think he managed to do much.”
“Damn it.” Scott looked around anxiously.
“What do we do?
Should we call an ambulance?
Should we take him with us?”
“No.”
Stiles shook his head.
“If that thing wanted Derek dead, Derek would be dead.”
He looked toward the dark hallway.
“For some reason, like we said before, the Alpha doesn’t seem interested in killing us.”
A pause.
“At least not yet.”
“So what now?” Scott asked.
“We keep running?”
“Hell yes.”
Stiles didn’t hesitate.
“I’m not risking finding out whether that thing’s mercy applies to all of us or just Derek.”
BAM!
A sudden noise echoed from behind a nearby door.
Scott and Stiles immediately reacted, diving into nearby lockers and pulling them shut.
Leon, however, simply leaned against the wall.
His new ability had already given him the answer.
‘It’s just the janitor.’
“What are you doing?
Hide!” Stiles whispered from inside the locker.
“It’s not the Alpha,” Leon replied.
“And even if it was, it would be able to hear your heartbeat or breathing — you two are idiots man”
A moment later, the door opened.
A man stepped inside cautiously, sweeping his flashlight across the hallway.
“What the hell was that sound?” the janitor muttered.
Then he froze.
Blood.
Bullet holes.
A damaged wall.
And a teenager casually leaning against it.
“Wh-who are you?!”
Leon smiled.
“Your friendly neighborhood school shooter.”
The janitor stared at him.
“What…?”
He glanced around nervously.
“It’s after hours.
Please come back in the morning.”
Leon burst out laughing.
“Hahaha—”
The janitor flinched.
The laughter wasn’t coming from Leon.
It was coming from inside the locker.
His eyes widened.
A second later, they rolled back, and he collapsed unconscious onto the floor.
Leon looked toward the locker.
“Stiles…”
The locker door slowly opened.
“I think you killed him.”
“What?
No, I didn’t!”
Stiles quickly stepped out and rushed over to check on the man.
“He just fainted.”
***********
Leon continued following the duo as they ran, hid, and stumbled through the school after finding the janitor they hid safely torn apart.
And honestly…
He was bored.
The same canon events…
again.
His expression darkened.
Somehow, everything still ended up the same.
Why?
A growing unease settled in his mind.
No matter how much he interfered, no matter how many things he changed or how many characters he affected, the story always seemed to find a way to correct itself.
Just like now.
Derek should have been out from the start.
The Alpha should have torn through him immediately, yet somehow, even after saving him, things still played out almost exactly the same.
Derek was taken out, the Alpha toyed with them throughout the school, and everything continued moving toward the same outcome.
And judging by the voices echoing through the halls, Jackson, Lydia, and Allison were already here.
The Alpha was using them as bait to manipulate Scott, even though Allison had never viewed Scott as anything more than a friend in this version of events.
Leon’s expression became colder.
Kate’s fate changed.
He looked down at his hand.
I turned her into a vampire.
She serves me now.
So why does it feel like something is trying to force everything back into place?
A disturbing thought crossed his mind.
Would the world itself find a way to restore the original story?
Would every change he made eventually be overwritten?
He clenched his fist.
No.
I won’t let that happen.
Before he could think further, Scott suddenly stopped.
“I know that ringing.”
He turned toward the sound.
“It’s Allison’s phone!”
***********
“Why did you come here?
What are you doing?” Scott asked urgently.
“…Because you asked me to?”
Allison looked confused by his reaction.
Her eyes briefly shifted toward Leon.
‘Why is he here?’
“I asked you to?”
Scott frowned.
Allison’s expression changed as worry crept in.
“Why do I get the feeling you weren’t the one who sent that message?”
“Because I wasn’t.”
A bad feeling settled over them.
“Did you drive here?” Stiles quickly asked.
“No.
Jackson did.”
“Jackson’s here too?”
Scott stared at her in disbelief.
“And Lydia,” Allison added.
Scott and Stiles exchanged uneasy looks.
“What’s going on?” Allison asked.
“Who sent that text?”
Before anyone could answer, her phone suddenly rang.
She looked down at the screen and answered.
“Where are you?”
A door at the end of the lobby suddenly opened.
“Finally.”
Lydia and Jackson stepped inside.
“Can we leave now?”
Jackson scanned the group.
The moment his eyes landed on Leon, his expression shifted.
But before he could say anything—
BOOM.
Heavy footsteps echoed from the floor above.
Everyone froze.
The sound was slow.
Deliberate.
Something massive was moving toward them.
BAM!
The ceiling shook violently.
Cracks spread across the surface as debris began falling.
Nobody needed an explanation.
“Run!”
The group turned and sprinted.
Behind them, the ceiling collapsed with a deafening crash.
A moment later, the Alpha emerged from the destruction.
***********
The rest of the events unfolded exactly like the show — running into a room, blocking the door, and completely overlooking the large windows.
When the group started panicking and asking what was happening, this time Lydia and Allison directed their questions at Leon, while Jackson just kept glaring at him.
“We ended up getting chased by that thing.”
“What thing?” Lydia asked.
“Who was that?”
“It was Dere–” Scott tried to speak, but Leon quickly cut him off, shooting him a ‘Are you stupid?’ look.
“We don’t know who it was,” Leon answered.
“No,” Jackson suddenly stepped forward.
“Finish your sentence, McCall!”
Scott hesitated for a moment before speaking.
“We thought it was Derek at first, but we found the poor guy injured and bleeding in a hallway, so to be honest, we don’t know who it is.”
After that, the drama continued — they panicked, tried to call the police, but were hung up on after someone reported prank calls coming from the school.
“Okay, assheads.
New plan.” Jackson repeated the same speech from the show.
“Stiles calls his useless dad and tells him to send someone with a gun and decent aim — are we good with that?”
“He’s right!
Tell him the truth if you have to, just call him,” Scott said.
Leon shook his head.
‘If the cops come, that thing would wipe them all out in a split second.
Is he really going to risk his best friend’s dad like that?’ Although Leon thought that, he still said nothing.
“I’m not watching my dad get eaten alive,” Stiles said firmly, looking into Scott’s eyes.
“Alright, give me the phone!” Jackson grabbed Stiles’ shoulder and pulled him, when suddenly Stiles turned and threw a punch, sending Jackson tumbling to the side.
“Jackson!
Are you okay?
Hey, are you okay?” Allison quickly jumped to check on him, which earned her a frown from Lydia, Scott, and Leon.
‘She really is pissing me off,’ Leon thought.
Stiles glared at them, then shook his head and dialed a number before speaking.
“Dad, hey, it’s me — and it’s your voicemail.” He sighed.
“Look, I need you to call me back now, like, right now!”
BANG!
BANG!
The door suddenly shook as the creature slammed into it.
“We’re at the school, okay?
Dad, we’re at the school!” Stiles finished the message and hid his phone, while the rest of the group stared at the door in fear — everyone except Leon, who scoffed.
‘If that thing wanted to get through, a lousy door wouldn’t stop it.
Even I could have broken through, let alone the Alpha.’
BANG!
The door rattled and began to splinter, and Lydia spoke in fear.
“Oh, God.
Oh, my God.” She leaned toward Leon, grabbing his arm.
Seizing the chance, Leon pulled her close, his hand squeezing her waist as he positioned himself in front of her.
He could feel her twitch slightly, and he had to hold himself from laughing.
“The kitchen — the door out of the kitchen leads to the stairwell,” Stiles remembered.
“Which only goes up!” Scott added.
“Up is better than here!”
As the group fled, the creature peered through the door’s window.
Seeing them finally gone, it pushed the door, and the whole thing burst open, bending the metal under its grip like butter.
The group hid in the chemistry lab, trying to figure a way out.
As they talked, Scott pointed at a door.
“What about this?
This leads to the roof.
We can go down the fire escape to the parking lot in, like, seconds,” Scott said.
“That’s a deadbolt,” Stiles said.
“The janitor has a key,” Scott said.
“You mean his body has it,” Stiles said, shaking his head.
“I can get it.
I can find him by scent, by blood,” Scott said.
“Well, gee, that sounds like an incredibly terrible idea.
What else you got?” Stiles commented.
“I’m getting the key,” Scott said with determination — but someone came up behind him and smacked his head.
“Are you stupid?” Leon frowned, looking at him like he was the dumbest person he had seen.
He stepped forward and, with sudden force, kicked the door.
A loud boom echoed through the classroom as the entire door frame tore from the wall.
Everyone, including Lydia and Allison, froze as they watched him do that, before a quiet “Wow” slipped from Lydia’s lips.
Jackson, on the other hand, looked at Leon with suspicion and dawning realization, then a smirk curled across his face.
Stiles looked at the door, then at Leon, and finally at Scott, before it clicked: ‘He should be able to do the same.
Why did he suggest getting the key from the janitor in the first place?’
***********
The group ran across the rooftop and began descending the fire escape one by one.
Once they reached the ground, they sprinted to Jackson’s car.
As they started piling in, Jackson spoke up.
“Not him!” He pointed at Leon.
“What?” Lydia said.
“Jackson, this isn’t the time!”
“I don’t care.
The car can’t fit everyone anyway,” Jackson scoffed.
“You’ve been getting on my nerves for a while,” Stiles said, stepping up to Jackson with his fists clenched.
“How about we beat the fuck out of you, take your keys, and leave you here instead?”
“Hey, everyone calm down,” Scott intervened.
“This isn’t the time to fight like this.”
“Screw that.” Leon was already close enough to Jackson that by the time the guy realized what was happening, Leon moved — throwing a punch that sent Jackson flying off his feet and dropping him to the ground, completely knocked out.
“Take his keys and shove him in the trunk,” Leon said.
Stiles smiled, grabbed the keys from the ground, and together with Scott, dragged Jackson to the trunk and shoved him inside.
“This is too far,” Scott muttered.
“We don’t have time for Jackson’s bullshit!” Stiles said.
“Whose side are you on?”
Leon smiled at that.
For a while now, he’d noticed Scott’s attitude toward him wasn’t as friendly as before.
Maybe not outright hostile, but he’d started leaving Leon out of things and barely contacted him lately.
‘Is it because of Allison?’ Leon wondered, then shook his head.
He remembered how in the show Scott had kissed Lydia and done plenty of questionable things after Allison broke up with him — showing his true colors before eventually figuring himself out.
Hearing even Stiles speak to him that way, Scott froze for a moment and quickly answered, “I didn’t mean to take his side.”
“Yeah, okay.” Stiles then slid into the driver’s seat, and Leon jumped into the back.
As Scott tried to sit in the back too, Lydia pushed him aside and climbed in next to Leon.
When Scott stood there for a second, Allison did the same, squeezing in beside them.
“It’s too crowded,” Leon muttered.
“We can squeeze together,” Lydia replied, shifting onto his lap and leaning against the door, facing him and Allison.
“Wh—” Allison tried to say something, frowning at their suggestive position, before a loud roar shattered the silence.
A pair of red eyes glared at them from the rooftop.
“GET IN!” Stiles yelled at the frozen Scott, who finally jumped into the front seat as the car roared to life.
The Alpha pursued them for a while, but after a few minutes, it seemed to give up and disappeared into the forest.
‘He could have caught up if he wanted to,’ Leon thought, shaking his head.
Then his attention shifted to Lydia, and he became acutely aware of her soft weight pressing against his lap.
He could feel the warmth of her thighs and the subtle movements of her body as the car bounced along the road.
Leon smiled and moved his hand to her leg, gripping a handful of her soft thigh.
When she looked at him in surprise, he was already staring out the window at the forest, pretending to be focused on something else.
‘He probably did it without realizing,’ she thought.
But then she flinched as she felt his arm slowly slide higher, reaching her inner-thigh, sending a jolt of electricity through her body.
Her frame leaned instinctively into his, her face drawing close until she could smell his cologne.
Her heart raced as she turned to face him, and suddenly, her lips brushed against his.
“HEY!”
Allison suddenly snapped, glaring at Lydia with open malice.
Wee-oo — wee-oo —
Red and blue lights flooded the dark streets as police sirens wailed in the distance.
Stiles turned the car and pulled over to meet them.
