After filling up the car’s fuel tank, Malcolm got home and started packing all his things into a box and loading them into the car.
Gloria was finishing up with hers since she had a head start while her son filled up the car’s gas tank.
“I should probably go check if Mom needs any help with her boxes.” He heads over to his mom to help with her luggage.
” Hey there, sweetie, did you finish packing all your clothes?”
“Yeah, just finished loading them in the trunk.
The computer and laptop are in a separate box in the back seat just wanted to see if you needed any help on your side.” He asks while looking at the stack of boxes near the door.
“Thanks, sweetheart.
You can take the boxes over by the door to the car; we’ll only be taking our clothes and a couple other essentials to keep us steady for the first few nights.
The rest we’ll buy when we get there.” She says, pointing to the pile of boxes.
“Sure thing, no problem, Mom.” He grabs a few boxes and heads downstairs to pack them into the car.
A truck pulled up into their driveway, with the words ” New Journey” written all over the truck’s side and the company name.
” Hey there, hope we’re not late; had to make sure the truck was ready for the long trip.”
A man in company uniform says while approaching with his moving crew.
” No your just in time.
Just finished putting all the boxes into the car; all that’s left is the furniture and large appliances.”
” No problem, we’ll get to work on it, and once we’re done, we’ll head straight to the other country and start putting everything in the new house.” He says, then turns to his crew to begin moving everything into the truck.
“Sure thing, thanks.” The moving manager gives him a smile and a thumbs up in reply.
Malcom goes upstairs and tells his mom that the Movers are here.
“Wow, that’s awfully nice of them.
In the meantime, I’ll call the bank and change our address to the one in Beacon Hills.
Why don’t you go for a quick walk around the neighborhood one last time?” She suggests it to Malcolm as a sort of final goodbye.
[Malcolm POV]
On my walk, I notice all sorts of places I used to frequent: the outdoor basketball court I would come to with my friends so much.
That old abandoned theme park we’d go to and do ghost hunting.
“Man, those were funny ass moments, especially when Jake fell and thought Pennywise would pop up out of nowhere and take him hostage.” Laughing while reliving old memories in his head.
‘ It’s funny how these don’t just feel like memories their more like I’ve lived them through and experienced them firsthand.’ Lost in my thoughts, I notice the old spot Roller Coaster where my friends and I climbed up and celebrated winning our first middle school championship.
Can you even blame us?
We beat a top contender and ended up on the late-night news sports segment; the whole school treated us like celebrities from that day on.
Good times.
I continue my walk and end up at an outdoor park where a kid is practicing his shooting.
I decided to join him and show him a better way to get the ball off his fingers when he shoots it.
“Make sure the ball rolls off your index, middle, and ring fingers.
These three in the middle got it.
And also, when you’re dribbling the ball, make sure you keep your eyes up and control the ball with your fingertips instead of your palm; it helps you see who’s open and who’s not.”
We spend a few minutes playing and practicing in between.
I give him some pointers to help him get better.
“RYAN, it’s time to go home.
Say goodbye to your new friend.” Ryan’s mom calls out to him.
“Thanks for helping me practice again.
I’ll make sure I practice every day and get better so I can win a trophy.
Bye.” Ryan runs to his mom while waving back at me.
I should probably head back home; it’s 3 PM now.
Walking back to my soon-to-be old home, I take in the area one last time.
When I get home, I notice the truck is gone, and I enter the house and see our furniture is already en route to Beacon Hills.
“Hey, how was your walk did get to say any goodbyes while you were out and about?”My mom asks me while she gets her things ready to leave.
“Nah, my friends are out of town visiting family, but I did make a new friend while I was walking.
I showed him a few things to help him get better at basketball.” She smiles, hearing that I at least had one last good memory before our new lives begin in Beacon Hills.
“Well, I’m glad to hear that the moving truck left an hour ago.
We’ll get there in about 5 hours if we leave now, go get changed, and meet me in the car.” She hugs me and heads to the garage.
I freshen up and get changed into baggy jeans, white shoes, a nice Tupac shirt, and a denim jacket with a sweater underneath, and head down to the garage.
As I walk out the door, I take one last look at the now empty house and smile, knowing the memory will always live on forever no matter what.
I put the keys in the usual hiding spot so that the new owners know where to find them and get in the car.
“When we reach the 2-hour mark on our drive, we’ll park at the nearest gas station, get something to eat, and you’ll drive the rest of the way there.” I nod as we pull out of the driveway; we begin the long drive to Beacon Hills.
2 Hours into the drive, we pull over at a nearby gas station and get some food before we continue the rest of the drive.
On the way, it starts to rain pretty hard.
I notice a road sign written “Beacon Hills in 2 Km.
[Beacon Hills Preserve]
Several police officers are seen with flashlights in hand alongside K9 dogs.
Earlier that day, there was a report made by 2 Joggers along the mountain who claimed to have come across the lower half of a female’s corpse.
