The moment he entered, the door squeaked a little, then he made his way towards a little office where he saw a very old woman weaving a shirt.
Even when he arrived in front of her, the woman seemed oblivious to his existence. Only when he tapped the table did she finally notice him.
"Oh dear, what can I do for you, young man?"
"I would like a room for a couple of days," Nathan responded neatly. Sleeping was one of the most important things to him now.
The old woman put down her tools and slowly got up. She first squinted her eyes as she noticed how young he was. "Quite a handsome young man, you look like my late husband."
Nathan was surprised by the unexpected compliment, but then he smiled. "He must have been quite a handsome fella."
"Indeed he was…" The old woman looked at the wall where there was a picture of her and her husband when they were younger.
He looked up and saw the two smiling happily, then he continued talking with her for another half an hour.
Nathan nodded and smiled as she told old stories. He knew that at this age, life can get lonely, especially if you don't have anyone else. He also used to do this with his grandma.
After talking so long to the old woman, she finally remembered what he was here for. "Come, let me show you the room." She didn't ask for an ID or even money.
Nathan followed her, and soon they arrived inside the room. He was surprised when he saw how it looked.
The room looked very warm, just like one that you would have in your home, and the condition of it was way better than the other motel he stayed in.
He was pretty sure that the old woman took care of the room almost every day.
"Satisfied?" The old woman glanced curiously at him.
Nathan nodded as he responded. "It's very warm."
The old woman smiled and gave him the keys. As she was leaving, she glanced one more time at his neck where she saw some blood.
As he watched her leave, Nathan touched his neck as he noticed her look. He knew that she must have seen the blood.
He shook his head, then went directly into the shower and washed all the blood off him. After he changed into new clothes, he sat on the bed and took his phone out.
A hint of excitement flashed through his eyes, just like a little kid about to get a new toy. This mission was the hardest he had done, so the rewards must be impressive.

Out of all the things, what caught his attention the most was the basic strength serum. "Is it like the one Steve Rogers got?"
But then he shook his head as he found it impossible. That would give him at least the strength of an Alpha from this world.
But since it said basic serum, that means that there are more advanced ones, which was good for him.
Nathan didn't wait to see the other rewards, and just thought hard about the serum, and a big blue syringe appeared in his hand.
When he saw how big the needle was, he suddenly fell silent and stared at it in silence.
The liquid inside was light blue. He shook it a few times and looked around the room. He wasn't sure what would happen once he injected himself with the serum.
But then the hesitation disappeared as the thought of growing stronger filled his mind.
Nathan then injected the syringe into his leg without hesitation. His face twisted in pain, but he managed not to shout.
The liquid seemed to have a life of its own, and before he could push it inside, it traveled into his blood all by itself.
"Arghh!"
Nathan's face distorted in pain as he felt like needles were traveling throughout his body. His muscles tightened and loosened constantly, as if they were pumped with air.
His body felt like it was on fire, and the bed was already filled with his sweat.
Just as the pain was starting to recede and Nathan was about to sigh in relief, in the next moment, a more agonizing pain hit his body as now even his head felt like it was about to explode.
Nathan felt like all his muscles were rearranging and growing, and even his bones could be heard cracking constantly.
With every sound, his body twisted even more in pain, and so this went on for a couple of hours. A cycle of relief, then immediately pain.
