12 – Notes: Husband??

Sang Ran sat on the sofa looking at her hand, her eyes red, like a pitiful little thing that had been bullied.

Fu Chenyan had just come downstairs when he saw this scene. He stopped beside Sang Ran.

“The mosquito-repellent incense you bought me yesterday was useless. The mosquitoes still bit me, and it hurts so much.”

Sang Ran frowned in grievance. There were several red marks on her hand, even on her neck, and one on her cheek—especially conspicuous against her fair skin.

“Bitten by mosquitoes?”

“That room of yours hasn’t been lived in for a long time. Maybe the incense wasn’t burned in advance. Does it hurt?”

Fu Chenyan felt the last two words were a wasted question—the doll in front of him was already on the verge of tears.

“Delicate.”

He uttered the two words softly, sat down beside Sang Ran, and took her hand to look at it seriously. The doll’s hand was fair and slender, as beautiful as her face. A gentle squeeze left a red mark.

Fu Chenyan squeezed it again lightly. Sang Ran sniffled and glared at him with a resentful look. The girl was too timid, and a bit cowardly—she didn’t dare to resist.

But she knew that Fu Chenyan, this wicked thing, was bullying her again.

“Put on some calamine lotion. It’ll go down by this afternoon.”

Fu Chenyan held a blue bottle in his hand. He opened the cap, and a fresh scent slowly spread out. Sang Ran felt a cool sensation on her hand as Fu Chenyan poured some into his palm, then applied it to Sang Ran’s hands and face.

Her face was soft and tender. Fu Chenyan lingered there a little longer than necessary, and when he pulled away, he gave it a gentle pinch.

Sang Ran looked up and saw the same cold, expressionless face, sharp brows slightly furrowed, just as always.

“Why… why did you pinch my face?”

Fu Chenyan lowered his eyes, those black pupils unfathomably deep. He let out a soft “Hm?” as if denying what he had just done.

“You pinched my face when you were putting the lotion on me.”

Sang Ran looked at the man before her with an accusing expression, her delicate brows furrowed as if she had been wronged.

“Me?”

“Yes, you.”

Fu Chenyan said with a straight face, “No, I didn’t. You must have seen wrong.”

“It was you!”

Sang Ran argued angrily with the wicked thing before her. He had clearly done all those things, yet he wouldn’t admit it.

Fu Chenyan raised an eyebrow expressionlessly. “Little one, accusing someone requires evidence. I did nothing just now. Go ask around—who saw anything?”

Sang Ran looked up and glanced around. The maids instantly lowered their heads. No one dared to meet her eyes, and no one dared to testify for her.

Sang Ran silently cursed that wicked thing again in her heart, then turned around in a huff.

The corner of Fu Chenyan’s lips curled up again. He continued applying the lotion to the little girl. She resisted, pushing against his chest, but the little one was troublesome even when angry.

Fu Chenyan clasped both her hands together, his gaze darkening. “Be good, or… I’ll throw you into the tiger garden in the backyard.”

The moment he said that, Sang Ran deflated like a punctured little ball, letting Fu Chenyan do as he pleased. Once the lotion was applied all over, Sang Ran felt her skin wasn’t so itchy anymore, but she still decided not to forgive this wicked thing.

“Still hurts?”

Sang Ran shook her head. “It doesn’t hurt anymore.”

She was still wearing the white bow pajamas from last night, with a low neckline, and below, her long, straight legs were exposed. Fu Chenyan’s gaze grew darker and darker. He bent down and scooped Sang Ran up.

“Not dressed properly?”

Sang Ran felt the man’s coldness. Her dark eyes lowered, and she gently bit her lip.

She was dressed perfectly fine—she was wearing pajamas, and warm ones at that.

This wicked thing Fu Chenyan just loved finding fault with her every day.

Sang Ran puffed out her pink lips. Fu Chenyan lowered his gaze slightly and happened to catch the sight—those lips were like cherries, tempting to be plucked.

Fu Chenyan’s Adam’s apple moved, but Sang Ran didn’t notice anything unusual about him. She kept muttering curses at him under her breath, though he couldn’t make out what she was saying.

A moment later, Sang Ran was set down on the soft bed by Fu Chenyan.

“Don’t come downstairs in pajamas from now on.”

“Why not? This is how I dress at home.”

Sang Ran met his cold, still gaze, hesitated as if about to speak, and her delicate body retreated backward.

“Give me your phone.” Fu Chenyan suddenly extended a hand.

Sang Ran thought this wicked thing was going to confiscate her phone, so she clutched it tightly to her chest. “I won’t give it to you. This is mine. You have no right to take my things.”

Fu Chenyan couldn’t be bothered to argue with the little one. He simply snatched the phone from her, his fingers brushing against the soft fabric over the girl’s chest, like a feather grazing his fingertips.

He paused for a moment, then his fingers twitched again.

“Why are you taking my phone? That’s mine.”

Sang Ran’s soft, sweet voice rang out. Her expression looked a bit fierce—but it was the kind of fierce that was more cute than threatening, with no real bite to it at all.

Fu Chenyan bent down, leaning close to that soft, plump face, and couldn’t help but gently pinch it—so lightly, as if afraid of hurting her.

Sang Ran’s hatred for this wicked man grew by another notch. He took her phone away, and now he was bullying her too…

Fu Chenyan withdrew his hand, used Sang Ran’s face to unlock the phone screen, then saved her contact information before returning the phone to her.

“Wicked man…”

“What?”

Sang Ran quickly shook her head. “Nothing… I didn’t say anything.”

Fu Chenyan let out a low chuckle, so quiet that Sang Ran didn’t hear it. Then he went to the walk-in closet and picked out a new dress.

“Will this one do?”

Sang Ran looked at the one in Fu Chenyan’s hand—the color and style were both to her liking.

That wicked Fu Chenyan actually had decent taste.

“Put it on. I’m heading to the company in a bit. You can stay home… do whatever you want…”

Fu Chenyan tossed out the words and left the room, his back cold and distant.

Sang Ran made a face at his retreating figure, then got up to change. When she came downstairs, Fu Chenyan had already finished his meal and left.

But the dishes on the table were still perfectly intact, as if untouched.

“Madam, please have your meal.”

Sang Ran noticed a small pink cake on the dining table, decorated with red strawberries—absolutely lovely.

Ooh~ A little cake!

The chefs in the kitchen were so thoughtful, knowing she liked this kind of cake.

Sang Ran happily ate her food. Without that wicked Fu Chenyan around, the young girl was overjoyed, even the strands of her hair seemed to radiate delight.

Just as she opened her phone, she saw something that ruined her mood—a new phone number had appeared in her contacts, labeled: Hubby…
