When Su Jiuyue woke up again, it was already noon on the third day.

Warm autumn sunlight streamed through the gap in the curtains, falling across the rumpled bed.

Every inch of her body felt as though it had been run over by a truck. She ached so badly she could barely lift a finger.Full novel: The ’70s: Her Natural Fragrance Captivates the Brooding Commander — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

She forced her eyes open and found herself staring at an unfamiliar ceiling.

Where am I?

Her memories gradually returned.

Jumping out the window… stopping the military jeep… that cold-faced man in uniform…

And everything that had happened in the bathroom that made her face burn with embarrassment.

Su Jiuyue bolted upright. The blanket slipped from her shoulders, revealing the scattered purple bruises covering her skin.

Panicking, she quickly checked herself over. Only then did the tension in her body ease slightly.

With all her years of experience as a miracle doctor, she could tell immediately that her virginity was still intact.

At the most critical moment that night, the man had forced himself to stop and ultimately spared her.

Although he had used an embarrassingly intimate way to help purge the drug from her system, leaving her completely exhausted and with the insides of her thighs still burning in pain even now, he had never truly crossed the final line.

As she vaguely recalled how he had endured it until the veins bulged at his temples—choosing to satisfy himself rather than take advantage of her while she was vulnerable—her cheeks flushed crimson.

At the same time, an inexplicable sense of security welled up inside her.

In truth, she’d still had a sliver of awareness that night. If someone had to help her, she would have willingly chosen this man.

People called him the Living King of Hell. He looked terrifying, but deep down, he possessed the discipline and integrity of a soldier.

“Awake?”

A deep voice came from the doorway.

Startled, Su Jiuyue hurriedly pulled the blanket up around herself before looking over.

Huo Zhixing leaned casually against the doorframe, an aluminum lunch box in his hand.

He was wearing nothing but a military-green tank top, exposing his powerful, muscular arms. Several distinct scratch marks were still visible across them.

Those were…

Her handiwork?

Standing there, Huo Zhixing silently studied the flustered young woman on the bed with the focused gaze of a predator sizing up its prey.

That very morning, when he’d awakened, his first instinct had been to tense up and reach beneath his pillow for his pistol.

The moment his fingertips touched the cold metal, he froze.

Something wasn’t right.

He had actually fallen asleep.

Not only that—he had slept during the day.

The migraines that had tormented him for three long years, driving him to the brink of madness, had vanished completely.

Even the violent, destructive impulses that constantly raged through his mind had been soothed.

And the reason for all of it…

Was simply the woman before him.

The night before last, she’d kept him occupied the entire night. By the end, both of them had been completely exhausted, falling asleep in each other’s arms.

She had become his living antidote for an entire day and night.

Even in his sleep, the delicate fragrance emanating from her body had drawn him in. Greedily breathing in her scent, he’d enjoyed the most peaceful sleep he’d had in years.

Now that he’d finally gotten enough rest, Huo Zhixing no longer looked as cold and intimidating as usual.

His thumb slowly rubbed against the edge of the lunch box while a thoughtful gleam flashed through his eyes.

Earlier that morning, he’d already received a full report on Su Jiuyue.

When Xiao Zhang discovered that he hadn’t gotten out of bed, the young orderly had quietly come upstairs and been stunned to find his commander peacefully asleep. He’d immediately investigated the woman’s background.

Her file was astonishingly simple.

She was nothing more than an ordinary country girl.

Since her background was clean…

And she could cure his insomnia…

Then she needed to stay by his side, where he could have his “medicine” whenever he needed it.

As for how to keep her?

Watching her ears turn bright red, the coldness in Huo Zhixing’s eyes gradually faded, replaced by an unreadable smile.

He walked over and set the lunch box on the bedside table.

“I got food from the mess hall. Eat while it’s hot.”

His tone remained calm and indifferent, but it lacked the frightening hostility of the previous night.

“We’ll talk after you’ve eaten.”

With that, he turned and left the room.

Su Jiuyue swallowed hard.

She hadn’t eaten anything for two days and was starving.

After washing up and finishing her meal, Huo Zhixing returned.

Glancing at the daylight outside, she cautiously began, “Um… Commander… about what happened last night…”

“Last night?” He raised an eyebrow. “You mean the night before last.”

“You’ve been asleep for a day and a night.”

“I… thank you.”

She hadn’t expected herself to be unconscious for that long.

Huo Zhixing looked at her before suddenly leaning down, his powerful masculine presence enveloping her.

“And how are you planning to thank me…”

“My fiancée?”

His choice of words made Su Jiuyue tremble.

“I-I’m sorry…”

Huo Zhixing let out a quiet chuckle.

His long fingers idly twirled a strand of her hair, though a calculating look lingered in his eyes.

“What?”

“You slept with me and now you’re pretending it never happened?”

Su Jiuyue: ???

Hold on!

She hadn’t even succeeded in sleeping with him, okay?

Besides, considering his status, shouldn’t he be giving her some money and telling her to disappear?

“I…”

Just then, loud shouting erupted from downstairs.

“Huo Zhixing! You brat, get your butt out here! If you’ve been fooling around with women, I’ll break your legs myself!”

The booming roar was full of authority and unmistakable fury.

Huo Zhixing frowned slightly and straightened up.

“My grandfather’s here.”

Bonus Scene

After Commander Huo woke up, his orderly, Xiao Wang, stared at him in horror.

“Commander… those scratches on your back…”

Commander Huo calmly tugged down the back of his tank top.

“A cat scratched me.”

Xiao Wang muttered under his breath,

“That’s one fierce cat… and it even smells nice?”

Inside the room, Jiuyue silently covered her face.

“I want to move to another planet…”
