Alpha Kingsley POV

I have been very busy lately with work, judging from pack internal affairs that needed my attention, to the threat from unknown people hanging over our heads like a butcher knife, and the upcoming wolf ceremony.

Everything was choked and jam-packed, leaving me no room for rest or for myself.Full novel: The Alpha King’s Plus Size Mate — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Argon had been growling at me, insisting I go check up on my mate.

I hadn’t seen her since our last encounter, and every fiber of my being screamed to go see her.

But being the stubborn Alpha I was, I resisted, burying myself in more work to distract myself.

“I don’t have time for leisure or frivolities,” I convinced myself.

The Lycan council chairmanship election was fast approaching, and I needed to be at my A-game to clinch it.

I couldn’t afford romance, and that was exactly why she was here.

Speaking of which, I realized I hadn’t informed her about the wolf conference and that she would be attending it with me.

I guessed I couldn’t avoid meeting her after all.

“You missed her as well. Admit it,” Argon scoffed.

“I just want to tell her about the conference so she can prepare,” I argued.

“Nothing else attached.”

”You could have sent Andrew or instructed Linda to inform her,” he replied.

I opened my mouth to respond, but no words came out because he was right.

I honestly wanted to see her, even if only briefly.

I couldn’t help it.

It’s the mate bond, I thought.

“Hypocrite,” Argon cursed.

I ignored him, stood up from the upholstery chair, and made my way to the door.

I opened it and headed toward my chambers to see her.

On reaching the door to my chambers, I frowned.

I quickly opened the door and stepped in.

Everywhere carried her scent, and I inhaled deeply — sweet jasmine and wildflowers.

Argon groaned in delight and bliss at our mate’s scent.

It had this calming and soothing effect on both of us.

I looked around the room and noticed that the bed still looked rumpled, which meant it had been a while since she woke up and left.

A smile unknowingly plastered itself on my face at the thought of her sleeping and waking in my bed.

A kind of pride I couldn’t understand rose in my chest.

I stood for a while, letting the scent linger, and then left, closing the door behind me.

I went in the direction of Linda’s residence.

If anyone was aware of her whereabouts, it had to be her.

Olivia didn’t know or have any friends in the pack, and I would say most she-wolves already hated her, thanks to Kate’s schemes and the wild fantasies in their heads of claiming me for themselves.

Argon scoffed at the thought of them wanting me.

“Pathetic losers.”

”Delusional.”

I smiled at his reaction.

Apart from Kate, I normally tolerated her nasty behavior because of her brother Andrew, my beta and close friend.

But Kate had these delusions that I belonged to her — one that I knew and was too lazy to address, so I let her be a clown.

Now, with Olivia in the picture, I needed to restrain the unmated females in the pack from attacking or antagonizing her.

Not that I cared what they did, but it was the right thing to do, I told myself.

She was here for a purpose only, I reminded myself.

On arriving at Linda’s room, I knocked twice.

She answered immediately, rushing to open the door.

Upon seeing me, she bowed respectfully.

“Greetings, Alpha King,” her head facing down in submission and reverence.

“I can’t find my ma…te, Olivia, in the chambers,” I questioned, nodding to her greeting, my right hand in the pocket of my trousers while my left rested behind my waist. Find the original chapter at novelping(.)com.

“She… talked about training, and I suggested she start at the gym,” Linda replied softly, her head still bowed.

“Training.”

”Gym workout.”

I chuckled softly.

Interesting.

Let’s see what she’s up to now, I whispered to no one in particular as I moved toward the gym.

Walking toward the gym house, I suddenly felt the mate bond awaken.

Fear, panic, and something else I couldn’t immediately decipher flooded me, and I raced, almost teleporting to the gym.

Upon arrival, I pushed the door hard ajar, and my eyes landed on Olivia — there, in another man’s embrace.

Anger and wrath immediately filled my heart.

Argon growled in fury, pushing to take over me.

His primal, animalistic nature screamed danger, threatening destruction on anyone who dared eye our mate.

“Mine,” he roared in wrath.

I wasn’t any better, but I didn’t let anger cloud my judgment.

Being an Alpha King meant rationality in all things — not everything was as it seemed.

“Take your filthy hands off her,” I commanded, my aura and Lycan energy spreading and dominating the entire room.

Olivia flinched in fear and dread, attempting to stand on her own, but I noticed her wail in pain as she lost balance.

“Fuck, she’s hurt,” Argon cursed.

David reached out to steady her, but I was faster, teleporting instantly to catch her, letting her fall safely into my arms.

Olivia was shocked and confused, her hands unconsciously tracing the lines of my muscles up to my chest.

Her hands moved as if laying claim to me, causing a groan to escape my mouth as heat pooled between my legs, my heart pounding heavily.

I carried her in a bridal style and stumbled out of the gym before losing control, making sure to glare at David, sending a silent warning.
