Darius “Any news?” Kieran walked in with a grim expression on his face, like he couldn’t believe everything that was going on in that moment.
One minute, I was having the best time of my life with Lyra, and the only reason why I hadn’t marked her that night was because I wanted this whole trouble with her pack to ease, I wanted everything to die down before I finally marked her and claim her as mine but now, she was gone, gone like she was never here to begin with.
“I should have marked her.
I should have claimed her as mine when I got the chance.
At least, it wouldn’t be so hard to find her now..
I am a fool.” I mummured.
“The fuck are you mopping about?
Lyra is not dead, man.
We are going to find her and we will bring her back.
If i have to send more men into the human world just to be sure, then i will do that.” Kieran said with a conviction in his eyes.
I turned to look at him, fear running through me.
I was one of the most feared Alpha’s in all kingdoms, I was never scared but loosing Lyra was not something I expected to happen and so soon especially since I just got her back.
“Stop it!
You are not a fool.
You are the most feared Alpha in all kingdoms, don’t think the worst.
We will find Lyra and make sure anyone who has a hand in her disappearance suffers for what they’ve done.” His words were assuring but they weren’t as assuring as finding Lyra.
I had never been as broken as I was at that moment.
Every thought leading to her bordered on her being injured, starving or worse dead.
“Send men into the human world.
I don’t care about any treaty or war.
Find her even if it’s the last thing you do.” He grabbed his phone, barking out orders to the men.
With this new development, I knew the President of the human world would mostly likely put a call to me but at that point, I didn’t care what repercussions I faced.
Finding Lyra was the most important thing to me and I was going to spend every minute doing that.
“All done.
They should be ready to move by dawn.” Kieran said.
I glanced at the space she had occupied when she had come in to talk to me about her father just as her scent, even though now faint wafted into my nostrils.
It was all I could do to stop myself from bawling over and allowing my wolf to take over.
I knew what that would mean and I wasn’t ready for the consequences just yet.
“Good.
Any communication from the President, let me know.
I prefer to handle him on my own.” “Are you sure?
You know how these people can be…
If he so much suspects that there is a werewolf in his land, that would cause a lot of diplomatic troubles for us and I don’t think we are ready to go through all of that especially at this stage we’re in.” Kieran said, pacing.
I knew he was right but I was more than determined to spare no expense especially when it came to finding the one woman who had made me feel like a man and the only woman who ever will.
“I’m ready to face whatever problems this would bring.” One of my men rushed in with a frantic look on his face and whatever it was, I knew it had to be serious.
“What?” Kieran barked.
The young guard shook in fear, his head bowed down like he couldn’t dare look at us.
Before he spoke, I already knew what he had come to report.
“I’m terribly sorry to disturb you Alpha but we have a visitor.” he said, fear lacing his voice.
“Who?” Kieran asked, going over to the window to look.
“Alpha Ronan and he’s here with some of the council of Elders.” Dead silence reigned within the room just as my hands fisted by my sides, anger running through me in waves I could hardly control.
Whatever this was, I realized that he wanted nothing more than a fight.
“When did they arrive?” I asked with the most gentlest voice I could muster.
“Darius,” Kieran said.
“When did they arrive?” I spat.
“Just…
just now…” the guard said, finally having the courage to look up.
“Good.
I’ll be there shortly.” He hurried out of the room, not wanting to be caught in the cold war that was already brewing.
Alpha Ronan had just declared war by bringing the Council of Elders into my pack, an act I considered as treason.
“What are you going to do?” Kieran asked.
“What I should have done since.
Take over the pack, imprison Alpha Ronan and do everything possible to extract information from him.” “Are you out of your mind?
That’s suicidal…
Don’t you dare!” I stormed out of the room, slamming the door shut.
The noise reverberated round the room, a testament to the fact that I was beyond angry.
“Where the fuck is she?!
Where the fuck is my bride?!” I stormed into the mini hall, Alpha Ronan’s men taking a protective stance around him even though they were scared shitless.
I could see it and so could Kieran who came to stand beside me.
“Alpha, there is no need for violence.
I have come here to ask the same questions.
Where is my daughter.” He sidestepped his guards, walking towards me in a show of bravery I knew he only put for everyone who cared to watch him.
“Darius,” one of the elders called.
Urus was one of the oldest men in all kingdoms and his eyes never missed a thing so if he was here, then it only meant he knew something the rest of us didn’t know.
“Alpha Ronan has no clue about the whereabouts of his daughter,” he said.
His full head of white hair stood out among the men gathered, his eyes aged with years stared back at me with wisdom which was the only reason why I hadn’t done what I initially intended to do.
“Then somebody start talking because if not, heads will roll.” I said, finally.
