Darius “Well?

Give me some fucking news!” I barked.

My men had gotten word that Lyra was on a bus and she was indeed on her way to the human world.Full novel: The Alpha King’s Unwilling Bride — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

It had been a lot pulling out resources and going into a place I swore I would never set foot on.

The humans did not like us and we knew better to just go in there without something serious.

“She escaped Alpha.” My hands fisted by my side, anger running through me.

One moment we were close to finding her and the next thing I knew, she was gone like she was never there in the first place.

“Any eye witnesses?

Surely, someone must have seen her escape?

If you have to kill every human in that bus to get the information we need then do it!” Kieran snapped.

He was equally as livid as me because none of us expected this to get this long.

Lyra had been gone for almost forty eight hours.

“Sir…

we wanted to but just as we got back, the entire scene had been taken over by the human police.

We barely left with our lives…” I walked towards him, stopping a few distance from him but still enough for him to feel my presence and the anger burning through me.

“What’s your name guard?” I asked in the calmest voice I could muster.

“Yarin…” he said, albeit in fear.

I gripped his shoulders, putting more pressure on it as i watched him squirm, trying to get off my grip but it was impossible.

I was stronger than everyone in this pack, faster and no amount of strength he possessed would ever help him escape.

“I don’t care if you have to kill the entire human race to find her.

I want my bride back before dusk.

Do you understand me?” I smiled.

“Darius…” Kieran said from the corner.

It was only when he said my name I realized I had gripped his shoulders too tight and by now, several bruises appeared on his skin.

I released him even as he staggered back, not daring to look at me.

“Get out!” He stumbled away, leaving Kieran and I alone within the room.

I closed my eyes and the first thing that came to my mind was Lyra’s face, smiling back at me and the more i thought about her, the angrier I became.

“Where the fuck is she?” “We will find her Darius.

You never give up so don’t start now.” “Why would she decide to go into the human world, a place that doesn’t treat wolves kindly?

Is there something I did to deserve this.” I slumped on my chair, my hands on my head in a sign of defeat.

I had killed men in battles, conquered territories and overthrew governments but, this was something I never thought I would ever face in my life.

Lyra had made me become somthing I’m not.

“You really love this woman.” He didn’t say it as a question so I didn’t see the need to answer him.

After all, there were things I couldn’t tell him yet, things that would surprise even him.

“She’s the only thing that’s keeping me alive.

I need you to understand that.

She’s the only thing fucking keeping me alive and now, she’s gone.” I snapped.

He remained quiet and as we stayed in the silence that threatened to consume us, I knew for a fact that things would never remain the same after this.

If Lyra had gone into the human world on her own, then it only meant that she didn’t want to have anything to do with us, me included.

“Do you think Kade scared her off?

That could be the reason why she decided to escape.

What if that bastard said something to her, something that could cause her to run.” “I don’t think so because if he even stepped foot in this pack, our sensors could have picked it up.

You need to stay calm Darius.

We will find Lyra.” He grabbed a bottle of scotch from the side bar, pouring some portions into two glasses.

I grabbed one from him, downing the drink in one large gulp.

“Another…

and keep it coming.” “No!

I’ll give you one more and that’s it.

You know how your wolf behaves when you are drunk.

We don’t want you on a killing spree.

At least, one of us has to be sensible to run this pack and that would be me.” I wanted to argue but I knew he was right.

If my wolf took over, this would be another issue entirely.

He wasn’t always known to be in his right senses and we all knew it.

“Gather the Council of Elders again and brief them on this new development.” I said, rising to my feet.

“Where the hell are you going?” His face was alarmed as he put the bottle away.

“Don’t tell me you are going to the human world.

Do you have a death wish or something?” “I’m not, i’m only going for a run.” “Why don’t I believe you?” I walked out, ignoring him and every other staff member within the pack who paid homage to me.

I wasn’t in the mood for any of that.

Lyra was on my mind and until I found her, I was never going to have peace with anyone.

“Darius!

Come on man, you need to tell me where you’re headed.” Kieran hurried to meet up with me.

Now outside, I welcomed the cool evening wind hitting my face.

My wolf purred within me, welcoming the new change.

It wasn’t as much as finding Lyra but it was much better than been cooped up in the house all day and he knew it.

“Run with me Kieran.” Finally, I allowed my wolf to take over, as my legs lengthened and my senses became sharper.

Under the setting sun, my black wolf stood proudly, overlooking my pack.

Kieran morphed into his Silver wolf beside me and as we broke into a run, I knew that somewhere, Lyra was alive and that alone was enough to keep me going because no matter what happened, I would find her.
