Lauretta POV.
Immediately he uttered those words I froze on the chair, my jerking halting momentarily, what did that even mean, did he think he was a possesive mafia Lord and I his bride.
“Don’t be confused, Lauretta.” He circled around me as he said it, my heart hammering against my ribs, a cold sensation settled in my belly.
“I know what you are, when I caught you, breaking your fall, I felt something Lauretta, and you might try to hide it from the whole world but I know what it is, I know you belong to a special breed of wolves.” He stopped his circling suddenly, kneeling in front of me, his clean face to mine, I was fighting the urge not to spit on his face and wipe that evil smirk off it, what did he mean, I hadn’t even shifted when I met him.
I didn’t know what he was talking about, I had only shifted yesterday and here I was being told I was something I didn’t know about.
My stomach chose that exact moment to rumble loudly and I curled into myself as far as the ropes would allow, I could feel my stomach churning thanks to my ulcer.
“Pardon my manners, I’ll go get you some food, we can’t let the ulcer worsen now, can we?” I flinched at his words, how did he know I had an ulcer?
“How did you—” Before I could finish he was already heading out of the room, closing the door, making the wooden floorboard rattle.
I struggled further in the bonds, trying to thrash out of them which only chafed my skin and drew blood even more.
What was I supposed to do.
“Wolf, come out, let me shift so I can escape,” I said to the empty room, pathetically hoping my wolf would hear and I would shift, but nothing, not even a growl of recognition, how useless could my wolf be.
The door opened again, he was back, a square white tray in his hands, two white glass bowls on it.
He went to the left side of the room and fetched a table, placing the tray on it, I sighed in relief, at least now he would free me to eat.
“Nice try, Lauretta, but I will do the honours of feeding you.” I looked down at the bowls, one of which was filled with French fries, the other smaller bowl a heap of red sauce.
I opened my mouth, exasperated but having no other choice than to comply and be fed, what other options were there?
Starve and die?
“You want to know how I know you had an ulcer, Laura?” He bent to the table’s level, dipping the fries in the sauce.
Why was he calling me Laura, only my late father called me that, no one else, my mother always hated the name, said it sounded like a peasant’s name.
I nodded, “Yes,” I answered, my voice coming out hushed because of how weak I felt, the hunger was manifesting in my body.
“Eat something first.” He raised the dipped fries to my mouth, and I could hear howling in my head, “Do not eat it,” a loud voice in my head boomed.
I flattened my lip into a thin line, confusion written all over the man’s face.
“I’m not hungry anymore,” I informed, looking sideways at nothing in particular even as my stomach growled even more loudly at the sight of the food in front of me.
A loud crashing sound made me jerk against the bonds, catching me off guard, my pulse raced against my wrist, my feets rubbing against each other in anxiety, but I only looked sideways at the broken tray and plates fallen at the left side of the room.
“Don’t you dare defy me, Lauretta.” His voice seemed to have changed, deeper, he was yelling now, frustration in his tone and I felt almost satisfied with myself which blurred the terror momentarily.
He stood from his position, his hand going to my throat, my pulse thrummed in my neck but I merely swallowed, “You will give me what I want.” He squeezed my throat, his wide eyes fixed on mine, nose flaring, his clean face flushed.
I could feel the pressure on my windpipe, my breath came out in shaky pressured pants, my hands cold on my lap.
Was this it?
Was j going to die this way?
So no one was looking for me?
“We can do this the easy way, Lauretta, or the hard way, the easy way was the food, I know you’re no regular wolf, Lauretta, you could have eaten the food which contained the wolfsbane which would have made you pass out, that way I could draw your blood, but look where we are now.” He pressed his hand harder, blocking my windpipe, making me jerk against the chair uselessly like a rat caught in a traptrap, my eyes misted with tears at my level of helplessness, this was worse than when Malachi claimed me against my will atleast he wasn’t trying to kill me.
“Are you going to give me what I want or not?” He asked again, suddenly I felt a cracking of bones within me, I could feel my back erupting with fur, I could feel the ropes tearing around me, growling sounds filled the room, I lunged at him, my wolf drooling already at the prospect of injuring someone.
He shifted his footing as he saw me approach, my fangs sunk into the skin of his arm, blood pouring from the wound, my mouth was filled as he jerked from my teeth, he tried to wrench himself free but for some reason I was bigger and stronger, my vision white at the edges from repressed anger.
He jerked out of my grip suddenly, lunging for me, but I dodged, my back against the wall, snout and fur bloody from my initial attack.
My blood pounded in my ears, I could hear everything for some reason, the sound of our erratic breathing was so loud I could almost have sworn it wasn’t us.
He narrowed his eyes at me, ready to lunge again, and something rose in my throat, hot and unfamiliar, before I even understood what was happening I spat out something thick and viscous, the sound tearing out of me like it belonged to someone else, the spit landed on his head, melting the fur on impact, I could hear the burning sound, he moaned in pain, suddenly crouching on the floor.
What was that, what had I just done.
