After clearing out the supermarket on the second floor, the father and daughter hurried up to the third floor.
The third floor was filled with various small household appliances. This time, Ye Xin didn’t sweep everything clean. Instead, she picked out several of each item that she needed.
What she collected the most of, however, was fitness equipment—treadmills, dumbbells, hand-grip strengtheners, and so on.
After finishing the third floor, they went to the fourth floor, which was filled with clothing.
Men’s clothes, women’s clothes, children’s clothes—they had everything.
This time, Ye Xin didn’t hold back. Whether the clothes fit her or not, she stuffed them all into her space.
In the years to come, finding clothes of this quality would be extremely difficult. Most people would be barely clothed, simply wrapping a few pieces of torn fabric around themselves before going outside.
When people couldn’t even fill their stomachs and couldn’t guarantee their own survival, who would care whether their clothes looked good?
Even people’s sense of beauty would change over the years.
Before the apocalypse, being slim was considered beautiful. Ideally, people wanted to be thin, fair-skinned, and youthful-looking.
But in the years after the apocalypse, anyone who was thin, pale, and delicate-looking might not even survive!
By then, people would think that plump and strong-looking individuals were the most attractive.
They had strength, could kill zombies, and could fight for supplies.
There were also two stores on the third floor holding off-season promotions. Their down jackets were of excellent quality, although some of the styles were a little outdated.
What did that matter?
Ye Xin stuffed every single one into her space!
She didn’t dare say they would have enough forever, but these clothes would certainly be enough for her and her family to wear for eight or ten years.
As for Xuanxuan, who was still growing, if they eventually ran out of children’s clothes in his size, there was still Mom!
Her mother knew how to alter clothes. Adult clothes could simply be modified to fit him.
It was only then that Ye Xin truly understood how wonderful it was to have her parents by her side.
In her previous life, she and Xuanxuan had only had each other. They had been just as poorly clothed, and Xuanxuan had worn her clothes. They were so oversized that they could practically pass for robes on him.
After collecting all of these supplies, Ye Xin and her father both changed into diving suits and went to the first floor to collect the gold, silver jewelry, and skincare products.
The amusement park and handbags were the least useful things, so Ye Xin didn’t even bother looking at them.
She headed straight for the jewelry.
She gestured toward her father, and he immediately understood.
He grabbed a hammer and smashed open the display cases one by one, making it easier for Ye Xin to collect everything.
Silver bracelets, silver bangles, gold necklaces, silver necklaces, studs, earrings…
She didn’t leave a single piece behind.
There were also jade ornaments over there.
A few of them were actually quite beautiful!
Ye Xin immediately took a liking to them and collected them all as well, leaving nothing behind.
After finishing with the jewelry, Ye Xin surfaced to take a breath.
Then she dove underwater again.
Skincare products were also extremely valuable. Otherwise, how was she supposed to take care of her skin during all those years to come?
She didn’t care what brand they were.
As long as she could see it, she collected it all—even the sample-size products.
After finishing everything, Ye Xin and her father surfaced once again.
“Should we check the basement too?”
Ye Xin knew that this supermarket’s warehouse was underground, right next to the parking lot. She just didn’t know whether it had been flooded.
Her father glanced at his watch.
It was only three in the morning.
They still had time!
So the two of them found the entrance to the basement and swam inside.
As expected, the underground parking lot had also been flooded.
Seeing rows of cars submerged in the water, Ye Xin couldn’t help feeling sorry for them.
She wondered whether any of them could still run.
More importantly, how much fuel was still left in all those gas tanks?
Gasoline was something that could never be considered excessive in the apocalypse.
After the apocalypse, the major oil refineries would never resume operations. Within just a few years, gasoline and diesel would become completely unavailable.
Unfortunately, Ye Xin’s space had limited capacity and couldn’t accommodate all these vehicles.
She had no choice but to give up on collecting the cars.
With the oxygen tube clenched between her teeth, she swam toward the warehouse.
A large iron door was tightly shut, secured with two locks.
This little problem wasn’t worth troubling her father with.
Ye Xin grabbed the bottom of one of the locks and pulled with all her strength.
With a loud snap, the lock broke off.
The father and daughter worked together to open the warehouse door.
The sight before them left them completely stunned.
There was actually an entire warehouse packed full of goods!
Judging from the situation, the shopping center must have just finished restocking when the disaster struck.
What was there to be polite about?
Ye Xin swam over and placed her hand on the boxes one after another.
The goods instantly disappeared.
They reappeared on the black soil inside her space.
Unfortunately, the warehouse had been flooded, and the toilet paper and kitchen paper had been soaked through.
They would have to be dried before they could be used.
Ye Xin had no choice but to throw them into the garden and let them dry in the sun, hoping they would still be usable afterward.
The warehouse was quite large.
Fortunately, the supplies were concentrated in one place.
Just as the small oxygen tank was about to run out, Ye Xin finally finished collecting everything!
She climbed out of the water, removed the oxygen tube from her mouth, and gasped for breath.
She checked the time.
Dawn was approaching.
“Let’s go! We’re going home!”
Ye Xin called to her father, and the two of them climbed toward the second floor, planning to leave through the window again.
Just then, Ye Xin suddenly sensed that someone was approaching!
She grabbed her father and hid with him behind the refrigerator and checkout counters.
Before long, a man wearing a headlamp walked right past them.
He headed toward the merchandise section.
She didn’t get a clear look at the man’s face, but from his overall demeanor, she could tell that he was no ordinary person either.
Not wanting to alert the man to their presence, they climbed up to the third floor. They wrapped the clothes around the glass, smashed the window, and then used the rope to climb down to the water below.
By the time Ye Xin returned to Jinxiu Garden, it was the darkest hour before dawn. The entire residential compound was eerily quiet.
This time, they switched to the inflatable boat outside the residential compound. Ye Xin then took some supplies out of her space, packed them into bags, and placed them on the inflatable boat.
Her father carried the supplies upstairs while Ye Xin stayed in the inflatable boat to keep watch.
Before long, her father, mother, Xuanxuan, and Su Jing all came down to help transport the supplies.
With more people, things became much easier. After only a few trips, they had moved all the supplies back home.
The neighbors living along the corridors had witnessed them carrying all those supplies and couldn’t help asking, “Where did you find all that?”
Ye Xin answered straightforwardly, “Pulled them out of the water!”
There were so many small supermarkets around here. They could probably salvage this much from any one of them.
The neighbors watched with envy and excitement, secretly making up their minds:
Tomorrow, we’re going to salvage supplies too!
By the time they returned home, the typhoon had weakened a little more, but the rain was still pouring heavily.
Listening to the wind and rain outside while drinking a sweet bowl of Eight-Treasure Porridge, biting into a juicy, meat-filled steamed bun dripping with savory oil, and eating refreshing pickled cucumbers, Ye Xin felt incredibly satisfied.
Her determination to survive became even stronger.
After eating and drinking her fill, Ye Xin sat down on the sofa and immersed her consciousness into her space. She began organizing everything she had collected that day.
Food, snacks, milk, meat, and other supplies were all tossed into the wooden cabin and sorted into neat categories.
She left only the toilet paper, tissues, towels, and other items that had been soaked in water outside, planning to put them into the cabin after they had dried.
To save space, she stacked everything all the way up to the ceiling before finally stopping.
Even so, her wooden cabin was already nearly full.
Only half of the living room still had any empty space.
She then began organizing the gold and silver jewelry and skincare products.
Unlike food and other necessities, these things currently had little practical value. They also couldn’t simply be piled or squeezed together, so she needed to carefully sort and store them.
Suddenly, Ye Xin froze.
Her space had swallowed one of her belongings!
Ye Xin rubbed her eyes and checked again.
That was right!
Something was missing from her supplies.
The gold and silver jewelry was still safely stored inside the wooden cabin, and the skincare and cosmetics were all there as well.
These things reminded her that she really had collected the supplies from the first floor of the shopping center.
It wasn’t a problem with her memory.
But her jade bracelet was gone!
