The moment Liu Ying saw Ye Xin, her eyes lit up.
She immediately moved closer to Gu Nan.
Gu Nan held a cloth bag in his hand. “I didn’t expect you to actually dare come. Here, the money is right here. If you have the guts, come and take it.”
Ye Xin certainly wasn’t going to be polite. With a baseball bat resting casually on her shoulder, she walked toward them openly.
Just as Gu Nan was about to make his move, Ye Xin swung the bat and struck the back of his neck, knocking him down cleanly.
“You want to ambush me? You should’ve taken a good look at yourself first!”
Gu Nan’s body went limp and collapsed to the ground!
Seeing Gu Nan unconscious, Liu Ying screamed in panic, “Ah… Somebody! Help! Grab her!”
But strangely, no one came to help her!
Liu Ying looked around and immediately understood what had happened.
She backed away while shouting, “Don’t come any closer! Don’t! The money is right there. It’s all yours…”
Ye Xin sneered. “Do you really think you can have a clear conscience just because you give me money after everything you’ve done?”
She rushed forward and slapped Liu Ying hard across the face!
The force of the slap sent Liu Ying spinning around twice before she barely managed to steady herself. She stared at Ye Xin in terror.
“It wasn’t my fault! It wasn’t my fault!”
“It was all him! All him! The first time, he raped me! Then… then he coaxed me, saying that if I was willing to become his mistress, he would divorce you and marry me!”
“He also said his father owned a company and that he was the only son in the family. He said the company would belong to us in the future!”
Ye Xin looked at her beautiful face and carefully applied makeup, then couldn’t help shaking her head.
“Such an idiot! Tell me, why do you think he doesn’t work for his family’s company and instead works for someone else?”
Liu Ying’s eyes widened. “He said he wanted to gain experience outside so that he could eventually take over his father’s business.”
Ye Xin laughed.
She bent down and stared at the frightened woman sitting on the floor. Reaching out, she grabbed Liu Ying by the chin and forced her to raise her head.
A cruel smile appeared at the corner of Ye Xin’s lips.
“His father is drowning in debt, and he’s even keeping a mistress in B City. How much money do you think he’ll actually have left for you?”
“Oh, and let me tell you another secret. Your father-in-law’s mistress also has a three-year-old illegitimate son. Your husband has known about this from the beginning. And apparently, that illegitimate son has the same right to inherit his father’s property…”
Liu Ying suddenly stood up as if she had gone mad.
“Impossible! That’s impossible! He told me he was the only son! He said all the property would belong to him!”
As she spoke, she suddenly lunged at Ye Xin!
Of course, Ye Xin wasn’t about to give her the chance. She kicked Liu Ying hard in the abdomen!
Liu Ying let out a muffled groan and doubled over, clutching her stomach.
Ye Xin followed with another kick straight to her face.
The force sent Liu Ying flying backward, where she crashed heavily into the still-unconscious Gu Nan!
The sudden impact woke Gu Nan.
He shoved Liu Ying’s body aside and grabbed a brick nearby. Staggering to his feet, he stumbled toward Ye Xin.
“You stinking woman! How dare you hit me! Give me my money back! Otherwise, I’ll make sure you don’t walk out of this parking garage!”
With that, he raised the brick and charged at Ye Xin!
Ye Xin nimbly dodged him, letting Gu Nan stumble forward.
She then kicked him hard in the butt, adding to his momentum.
Gu Nan flew forward and slammed headfirst into the pillar in front of him!
He collapsed to the ground without a sound and couldn’t get back up for quite some time.
When he finally struggled to his feet and tried to charge at Ye Xin again, Liu Ying grabbed him.
By now, Liu Ying’s hair was disheveled and her cheek was badly swollen. Looking almost crazed, she grabbed Gu Nan by the collar and screamed:
“You lied to me! You damn liar!”
Gu Nan was startled by her reaction. Pointing at Ye Xin, he shouted, “Are you crazy? She’s our enemy!”
But Liu Ying ignored him and continued shaking him violently.
“You said you would divorce her and marry me! It’s already been two years! If she hadn’t found out, how much longer were you planning to keep this from me?”
“You said you were the only son in your family and that your father’s company would belong to us someday. But your father has another illegitimate son, and he’s already three years old! Is that true?”
“Answer me! Is it true?”
Gu Nan looked at Ye Xin with a murderous glare. “It was that bitch! She told you, didn’t she?”
“Baby, let go of me first. Let’s get all the money from her. We still need to buy you a new house!”
Liu Ying seemed to regain some of her senses. She turned toward Ye Xin, who was casually resting the baseball bat on her shoulder and watching them argue as if she were enjoying a show.
Then Ye Xin watched as the two of them helped each other to their feet and slowly approached her.
She sneered. “I’m done playing with you two!”
She bent down, picked up the cloth bag from the ground, and waved it at them.
“Remember, this is what you owe me!”
With that, she kicked Gu Nan away when he rushed forward to snatch the money, then knocked Liu Ying unconscious with a single swing of the bat.
She planted one foot on Gu Nan’s face and ground it against the floor while sneering, “Looks like you still haven’t fully understood what ‘walking away with nothing’ means.”
“How did this card get money in it again?”
She pulled out Gu Nan’s phone, took his hand, and used his fingerprint to unlock the screen. Then she transferred the 20,000 yuan Liu Ying had just sent him directly into her own account.
Gu Nan glared at her viciously. “You vicious woman! I’m not finished with you!”
After completing the transfer, Ye Xin pressed her foot down harder.
“Shut up for a while, will you?”
Gu Nan immediately fell silent and passed out.
Ye Xin then pulled out the bank card hidden on Liu Ying, whistled casually, and walked away.
Before leaving, she thoughtfully dragged the two of them together and pulled open Liu Ying’s clothes, arranging them to make it look as though the man and woman had gotten into a physical fight and both ended up injured.
The surveillance cameras here had already been destroyed by Gu Nan and his people anyway. What did she have to worry about?
As Ye Xin walked out of the underground parking garage, she seemed to feel a faint cool breeze.
She froze.
There was still almost a month before the apocalypse in her previous life. Could it be coming this much earlier?
She remembered that when the torrential rains began in her previous life, the children had already started school. It had been late September.
At the end of August, there hadn’t been even the slightest hint of coolness in the streets. Simply going outside to buy vegetables could give someone heatstroke.
Many people had suffered heatstroke and been rushed to the hospital. The emergency rooms had been packed with patients waiting to be treated for heatstroke.
Another breeze blew toward her.
Although it carried scorching heat, it still put Ye Xin on alert.
She pulled out her phone and called her father.
“Dad, what are you doing at home?”
Her father’s voice came through the phone, still loud and energetic.
“Your mother and I aren’t doing anything. It’s too hot! We’ve just been staying home every day.”
Ye Xin didn’t hesitate.
“Dad, I’ve been a little busy lately, and there’s no one to look after Xuanxuan. Could you and Mom come to the city and help me take care of him for a few days?”
“Daughter, what could you possibly be busy with in weather this hot? Don’t get heatstroke! Your aunt got heatstroke yesterday and had to be taken to the hospital.”
Ye Xin had originally thought there was still plenty of time. After dealing with the cheating couple and getting their money, she planned to take her son back to her hometown.
She could sell the house and property there to get some extra cash. There was also food stored at home, along with the vegetables her parents had grown. It would be a shame to leave all of that behind.
But now, it seemed she might not have that much time after all.
She had to bring her parents to the city first!
