Chapter 17 — Threshold of Power

The Arsenal King of The Slave World

Ren woke before the sun fully rose.

For a moment he simply lay still, feeling the warm weight of Lyra’s naked body against him. Her silver hair was spread across his chest, her tail resting lightly over his thigh, and her breathing remained slow and peaceful. The temporary brown dye from the previous day had already been washed away the night before; she could not maintain it while sleeping. Now her natural silver colour shone softly in the dim morning light.

A faint smile touched Ren’s lips. Carefully, he slipped out of bed without waking her, pulled on a pair of loose pants, and moved to the center of the room.

He began his daily exercise in silence.

Push-ups. Squats. Core work. Controlled stretches. The habits of a soldier did not disappear just because he had been reborn in another world. Sweat soon covered his upper body. Only after he finished and wiped himself down with a cloth did he finally open the system panel.

Blue light bloomed quietly in the air.

A large amount of new information appeared at once.

Ren’s eyes moved further down.

**Note:** Every weapon and vehicle possesses a Magical version. Magical versions are much stronger than normal versions. The purchase price of Magical versions is five times that of the normal version. Magical versions unlock when the Magical Category is opened through materials or special missions.

Two new glowing options appeared at the bottom of the panel.

**[Future Path Selection]**

**Path 1: Modern Army Summoner**

Summon fully trained modern soldiers directly.

Soldiers require no training, cannot be transferred to others, and will disappear upon the Host’s death.

Ideal for rapid creation of a loyal military force without the need for territory or long-term training.

**Path 2: Territorial Commander**

Establish a base or claim territory and convert it into a nation.

Can construct factories, mines, military bases, airfields, naval docks, and more.

Forces can be transferred. Large-scale weapons require proper facilities.

Cannot attack other nations without just cause.

*(Full descriptions available upon selection. Both paths may be postponed.)*

Ren stared at the two paths for a long moment. Path 1 was tempting — an instant army of trained soldiers. But the limitations were clear. He closed both options without choosing.

“Not yet.”

He still needed more strength, more information, and a clearer understanding of this world before committing to something so large.

His attention returned to the MAK-47.

He opened the detailed description of the Magical AK-47 and began reading carefully. The weapon could channel mana, deal both physical and magical damage, and was described as much stronger than a normal AK-47. At full power it would be a completely different class of weapon.

Ren’s eyes narrowed slightly with interest.

He still had two pieces of Special Hardwood and several Weapon Fragments. However, he had no Rank D Magic Stone. The only stones he had obtained so far were Mana Stones, and those had already been sold to the guild the previous day. Without a Magic Stone, he could not craft the first MAK-47 yet.

He decided to wait until Lyra woke up. He wanted her opinion on the new information — and he also needed to ask her about the meaning of his strangely high capacities.

As he closed most of the system windows, Perfect Targeting remained active.

Within the one-kilometer radius, countless small movements registered in his mind — early workers, merchants preparing stalls, birds on rooftops. Then a strange pressure brushed against his senses. It was not a clear location. He could not pinpoint an exact position or rooftop. He only felt a direction — somewhere to the northeast of the inn — as if unseen eyes were resting on the building.

The feeling was faint but persistent.

Ren’s expression cooled slightly. Whoever was watching had excellent concealment. The fact that even Perfect Targeting could only give him a rough direction instead of a precise location meant the person was likely a higher level than him, or possessed a specialized stealth skill.

He filed the information away for later.

Then he turned toward the bed.

Lyra was still asleep, lying on her side with the blanket only half-covering her naked body. Soft morning light that leaked through the thick curtains touched her silver hair and the gentle curve of her back. Her wolf ears twitched faintly in her dreams.

Something in Ren’s chest tightened — warm and unfamiliar.

He walked over, sat on the edge of the bed, and quietly brushed a few strands of hair away from her face. His heart felt strangely soft looking at her like this.

For the first time since arriving in this world, the future did not feel like only war and survival.

It also felt like something worth protecting.
