“Put it on.”
Chapter 10: Weren’t you the one who hugged me just now? And now you even dislike my clothes?
Ruan Tiantian lowered her gaze, glanced at the tattoo on his other arm, her pupils trembling slightly. Her pretty brows furrowed gently before relaxing again.
Shen Xiuyu looked down at her from his height. Seeing her frozen in place, he simply spread the jacket open and draped it over her shoulders.
By the time Ruan Tiantian snapped back to reality, the boy’s black jacket was already on her. She could still smell the perfume on Shen Xiuyu’s jacket—a distinctly feminine scent.
She looked up at Shen Xiuyu standing before her. The boy’s face was turned slightly, his black short hair fluffy, his face small and narrow, the corners of his eyes slightly upturned, his nose and brow bones deep and well-defined.
His slender neckline and prominent Adam’s apple were utterly captivating.
When he usually wore no expression, he looked exactly like a cold, aloof, and slightly rebellious young master.
But this naturally gifted appearance, in Ruan Tiantian’s eyes, was simply the face of a playboy.
And his jacket actually carried the scent of women’s perfume. Ruan Tiantian found it uncomfortable; she had always been naturally sensitive to such feminine fragrances.
It gave her a headache.
Ruan Tiantian took off Shen Xiuyu’s jacket. Watching the girl’s actions, Shen Xiuyu raised an eyebrow.
Then, the jacket the girl had shoved back was now in his hands.
Ruan Tiantian didn’t have a good impression of Shen Xiuyu, but she still offered a token remark.
“Thank you, I’m not cold.”
Although the girl was polite and courteous to him, her small face showed little expression. When she spoke, she didn’t look directly into his eyes, her tone flat and somewhat perfunctory.
There was a clear sense of keeping others at a distance.
Shen Xiuyu could be certain: Ruan Tiantian did not like his closeness.
He looked at the jacket returned to him, then shifted his gaze back to Ruan Tiantian’s pure and clean face.
Shen Xiuyu chuckled. “New classmate, already trying to burn bridges so soon?”
Originally, it was a very sarcastic remark, but Shen Xiuyu’s tone was light and amused, coupled with his youthful, deep voice. No matter how you listened, it felt like he was flirting with a young girl.
Ruan Tiantian looked up at him, pointed at her own nose, and asked in confusion, “Me? Burning bridges?”
“Who else if not you?”
Ruan Tiantian was so angry she almost laughed. She curved her lips into a fake smile at Shen Xiuyu and lowered her voice. “How exactly did I burn bridges?”
Shen Xiuyu took a step forward, closing the distance between them. He leaned down slightly, looking down at her from above, his tone ambiguous.
“Weren’t you the one who hugged me just now? And now you even dislike my clothes?”
Ruan Tiantian widened her eyes, her expression one of being caught red-handed.
Had Shen Xiuyu really seen through her? Was her reaction that obvious?!
But it wasn’t about disliking his clothes; she just wanted to avoid any suspicion and didn’t wish to have too much interaction with him.
Ruan Tiantian lowered her gaze, avoiding the young man’s exceptionally sharp and captivating peach-blossom eyes.
“I don’t dislike your clothes. I just think we should maintain a reasonable social distance.”
As she spoke, she took another step back, widening the gap between them once more.
Shen Xiuyu watched her movements and raised an eyebrow.
It was childish, yet somewhat endearing.
Suddenly, the blaring sound of police sirens erupted in the air, one after another.
Shen Xiuyu straightened up and glanced across the street, where several police cars were approaching.
The high beams made it hard for him to see clearly, and he couldn’t help but squint.
Ruan Tiantian asked anxiously, “What do we do? The police are coming.”
Shen Xiuyu placed his hand on her shoulder, giving it a gentle pat to reassure her. “You haven’t broken any laws. Don’t be afraid. I’m here.”
Just then, Lu Wenjie’s call came through directly.
Shen Xiuyu took his phone out of his pocket and tapped the answer button.
“Dad Shen, where are you? The police are here.”
“Right outside. I see them.”
After saying that, he hung up the phone, his expression relaxed.
He lowered his gaze, looking at the girl’s worried face, and added, “We might have to go to the police station tonight. Don’t worry, I’ll cover for you.”
Ruan Tiantian nodded. She knew Shen Xiuyu could handle it—after all, given his status, she was mainly worried about herself. Since he had said so, he probably wouldn’t abandon her.
She couldn’t rely on her so-called “family” to come and bail her out of the police station.
They would be more than happy to see her locked up and unable to get out!
After the police arrived, they took Shen Xiuyu, Ruan Tiantian, and the others to the police station for questioning.
The middle-aged man had already been taken to the hospital earlier by Lu Wenjie, Tan Song, and Du Xiaofeng.
Fortunately, his injuries weren’t severe, and Shen Xiuyu had already covered his medical expenses.
At the police station.
Shen Xiuyu, Ruan Tiantian, Lu Wenjie, Du Xiaofeng, and Tan Song sat side by side.
Across from them were two male police officers.
One of them glanced at Shen Xiuyu—his appearance was too striking, with tattoos on his arms, making him look like no ordinary person, exuding a strong air of mystery.
The officer looked at Shen Xiuyu and asked sternly, “Shen Xiuyu, tell us what happened tonight and why you got into a fight and injured someone.”
The young man leaned back on the sofa, lifted his eyelids, tilted his head, and glanced at Ruan Tiantian. Only after she nodded at him did he shift his gaze to the two officers.
He said coldly, “That man harassed someone under my protection.”
His words drew everyone’s attention. Ruan Tiantian looked at Shen Xiuyu; the young man exuded an imposing aura, his eyes sharp and fierce, appearing both cold and rebellious, his expression completely darkened.
“I demand that the man be held criminally responsible.”
The officers’ eyes shifted between Shen Xiuyu and Ruan Tiantian.
It seemed their guess was correct—this was a case of attempted sexual assault and rape.
“Was that man taken to the hospital by you?”
Lu Wenjie replied, “The ambulance just took him away. We called it.”
The officer nodded and reviewed the surveillance footage.
It confirmed that Shen Xiuyu was telling the truth—the middle-aged man had indeed attempted to commit a crime against Ruan Tiantian.
At that moment, Shen Xiuyu asked another question.
“Officer, how long will he be sentenced?”
“This will be handed over to the People’s Court by our public security department. The specific length of the sentence will be decided by the judge.”
Shen Xiuyu nodded and glanced at Ruan Tiantian sitting beside him.
Ruan Tiantian’s gaze had been fixed on Shen Xiuyu the whole time. He turned his head to look at her.
She quickly averted her eyes, but he still caught the hurried little movement as she looked away.
“Alright, you can go back now.”
Ruan Tiantian and the others walked out of the police station.
Outside the police station gate, a dense crowd of people stood gathered.
The entire class had come, and surprisingly, they hadn’t left yet—they had even followed them here.
Xu Qi and Fu Li saw Ruan Tiantian and Shen Xiuyu emerge from the police station.
