Shi Sheng glanced at the expensive bottle of water that had been tossed to the ground, then looked at the pink nails Wen Ke had been so disdainful of.

In the end, she wisely chose to keep her mouth shut.

She put on a smile. “Starbucks, right? I’ll head downstairs right now to get it for you.”Full novel: The Beautiful Canary Breaks up and Clings to Her Sugar Daddy’s Elder Brother — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

With that, she turned and left.

Wen Ke squinted lazily behind her, let out a yawn, and then said:

“I’m not reimbursing you.”

Shi Sheng: “…”

She winced inwardly at the thought of her wallet, then graciously said it was no big deal.

It was only twenty or thirty yuan, after all. It wasn’t like she couldn’t afford it.

And with that, she prepared to head downstairs to buy the coffee.

They hadn’t bothered to keep their voices down. Wen Ke was emboldened, and the studio staff all could tell she was deliberately making things difficult for Shi Sheng.

Though no one knew why, most people kept their mouths shut, afraid the fire might spread to them.

A few colleagues who had been on good terms with Shi Sheng exchanged glances, frowning almost imperceptibly.

By the time Shi Sheng returned with the coffee, she noticed the atmosphere at the shoot seemed a bit off.

Too quiet.

Last time she’d been here, it had been noisy and lively.

Now it was…

Shi Sheng discreetly glanced around and noticed several familiar-looking colleagues making exaggerated faces at her.

Shi Sheng: “?”

What the hell?

Just as she was full of questions, Wen Ke’s arrogant voice came from not far away:

“You’re back and just standing there like an idiot—can’t you see I’m dying of thirst over here?!”

Shi Sheng snapped back to attention and hurried forward to hand over the iced Americano.

Wen Ke snatched the cold drink, shot Shi Sheng a look of disgust, then turned her gaze away with irritation:

“Didn’t you hear me say stay away from me? Your smell is unbearable.”

With that, she even extended one finger and placed it horizontally under her nose to block the scent.

Shi Sheng obediently took a step back.

Just bear with it. Wen Ke wouldn’t be working at their company forever anyway.

As long as she got through this day, Shengjing would still be her happy home.

But clearly, this day wasn’t going to be easy to get through.

Whether intentionally or not, Wen Ke’s shooting progress was unexpectedly slow.

The crew was fuming inwardly but couldn’t show it.

After all, Wen Ke’s status was what it was, and she’d recently been caught up in rumors with a young heir from a wealthy family—not someone they could afford to offend.

And Wen Ke grew even more brazen.

The reason she was dragging out the schedule seemed to be purely to torment Shi Sheng.

One moment she said she was cold, the next she said she was hot.

When Shi Sheng offered her an electric fan, she refused it, insisting Shi Sheng stand beside her and fan her by hand.

As precious as some ancient young lady from a noble family.

Her legs were even draped with Shi Sheng’s jacket.

Wen Ke clutched the fabric of the jacket, complaining nonstop:

“What kind of material is this? It’s scratchy as hell!”

Shi Sheng: “…”

She said patiently:

“How about you give me the jacket, and I’ll go find you a softer piece of cloth?”

Wen Ke lifted her chin, glancing sideways at Shi Sheng:

“I want this one.”

With that, she closed her eyes contentedly and fell asleep in the reclining chair.

Leaving Shi Sheng beside her, sweating profusely as she fanned her by hand.

Before long, the director started calling Wen Ke over to shoot again.

Wen Ke woke up with a sour expression. As she stood, the jacket on her lap fell to the ground.

Without even a blink, she stepped over it in her high heels.

Several dirty footprints instantly appeared on the fabric of the jacket.

Wen Ke herself, however, seemed to have noticed nothing at all, walking toward the green screen.

Shi Sheng put down the fan, flexed her sore wrist, and bent over to pick up her own jacket.

She glanced at the black shoe print stamped on her clothes, not particularly bothered.

It wasn’t like it couldn’t be washed clean.

Still, this kind of deliberate bullying was truly beneath contempt.

Thinking this, Shi Sheng switched on the electric fan to face herself, grabbed a bottle of water from the large crate beside her, and took a sip.

But before she could rest for long, she heard Wen Ke calling her again:

“Shi Sheng! Come over and touch up my makeup!”

Isn’t that the makeup artist’s job?

Shi Sheng set down the water she’d barely touched and stood up reluctantly, heading toward Wen Ke.

Sure enough, it was another round of petty torment.

Finally, lunchtime arrived, and the staff announced they could temporarily disperse.

Shi Sheng breathed a sigh of relief and turned to head back to her office, planning to go to the cafeteria with Tong Lian.

But before she’d taken more than a few steps, she heard Wen Ke’s voice from behind:

“Hold on. Did I say you could leave?”

Shi Sheng’s footsteps halted.

She turned around.

Sure enough, Wen Ke was staring at her with a hostile expression, that stunningly beautiful face full of arrogance:

“You’re my personal assistant. Even if everyone else leaves, you have to stay and attend to me. Understand?”

Shi Sheng said nothing.

She thought this woman was really—

So damn annoying.

Wen Ke took the boxed meal handed over by a staff member, then gracefully lifted Shi Sheng’s hand and placed it in her palm:

“Come here. Feed me.”

Shi Sheng: “…”

She looked up at the surrounding staff.

When their eyes met hers, they all looked away one by one, pretending they had nothing to do with this.

Shi Sheng took a deep breath.

Expressionless, she opened the lid of the boxed meal.

Wen Ke nodded in satisfaction: “That’s right, just like that. See the spoon over there? Pick it up and—Ah!”

Before she could finish her sentence, Wen Ke let out a terrified scream.

The boxed meal—container, rice, and all—had been slammed onto her head by Shi Sheng.

Wen Ke’s hair and face were now covered in sticky grains of rice and pungent sauce. The makeup and styling that had taken hours to prepare were completely ruined.

Wen Ke’s beautiful face contorted:

“Shi Sheng! How dare you!”

Shi Sheng shot back: “How dare I not?”

God, she was already annoyed at being dragged here as free labor.

“Just because I waited on you for a few hours, you think you’re some princess from the feudal era?”

And she kept treating her like a dog.

“How dare I? There’s plenty I dare to do! Where was all that arrogance yesterday when you were throwing yourself at Qi Ye?”

Not to mention the despicable things Qi Ye had done last night.

Adding it all up, Shi Sheng was so irritated she wanted to blow up this entire world!

Wen Ke froze.

Her expression turned panicked: “Who threw themselves at Qi Ye?! We’re in a relationship of our own free will—don’t talk nonsense!”

Shi Sheng: “Talking nonsense? Want me to post the video from last night so you can see for yourself?”

Wen Ke was completely flustered: “Wh-what video?”

Shi Sheng sneered: “What do you think?”

Wen Ke’s hands and feet went cold: “Delete it! Delete it right now!”

“You say delete and I delete—do you really take me for a fool?” Shi Sheng mocked.

With that, she walked away without looking back.

Behind her, Wen Ke was still screaming hysterically:

“I’m terminating our partnership! Terminating it!”

“Is this how Shengjing treats its employees?! You’re just going to let her bully me like this?”

“Stop her! Someone stop her!”

Shi Sheng quickened her pace to leave, dialing a number as she walked.

After her outburst, she was now in a state of guilt and fear.

After all, she was just a small employee at the end of the day. If she really ruined the company’s partnership with Wen Ke because of this, her boss would make her life miserable enough to last her a lifetime.

In her panic, she didn’t even know which number she had dialed. Shi Sheng spoke hurriedly:

“What do I do, what do I do? I just gave the company’s business partner a piece of my mind.”
