“Brother Ming, you’re finally back, boohoo…”

Li Ming looked confused at the person blocking his path.

“What’s wrong? It’s already dark and you’re still not home. What are you standing here for?”Full novel: The Beautiful Educated Youth Whose Mind Was Read, and the Heroine’s Broken Engagement — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

An Fenglan’s tears and grievances, which had been building up all afternoon, finally found an outlet. She poured out everything Li Qingge had done like beans spilling from a bamboo tube—and embellished it along the way.

After listening, Li Ming’s gaze fell on his wife’s arm, and the veins on his forehead bulged. This rebellious daughter had truly gone too far—she actually dared to hit someone.

Without a second word, he casually tossed his bicycle against the wall and stormed furiously toward the house.

When he discovered his eldest daughter had locked the door from the inside, the fire in Li Ming’s heart blazed even higher.

Absolutely outrageous. He’d thought this daughter was a well-behaved one, but it turned out today she’d finally shown her true colors.

The more Li Ming thought about it, the more furious he became. He started kicking at the door.

“Come out! Li Qingge, get the hell out here!”

With such a commotion, many people in the courtyard began craning their necks to watch.

“Oh dear, that poor Qingge girl. With a stepmother comes a stepfather. Looks like she’s in for another beating today.”

“Tell me about it. Such a pretty, well-behaved, sensible girl. If only she’d been born into my family.”

“Come off it, don’t dream about eating farts. Look at yourself—you look like a landmine that’s come to life. She’d be unlucky to be born into your family.”

“Shut up, old hag. Go home and wash the dishes.”

The man’s scolding cut off their argument, and the surroundings quieted down again, making Li Ming’s cursing even clearer.

Li Qingge was woken by the ruckus outside the door. She yawned, walked over silently, and unlatched the door.

When Li Ming pushed again with all his strength, he stumbled and tumbled into the room.

BANG.

His forehead swelled up quickly, making him look like he and An Fenglan were now a matching couple.

“Daddy…”

“Brother Ming…”

Li Huan, Li Le, and An Fenglan rushed over and helped Li Ming up.

An Fenglan looked at Li Qingge with a face full of reproach: “Qingge, how could you pull such a dirty trick on your own father?”

“I know you have a problem with me, because I’m not your real mother. But Brother Ming is your biological father! How could you do something so beastly and inhuman?”

“Shut up!”

Li Qingge raised a hand to dig at her ear, then slapped An Fenglan across the face, cutting off her endless chatter.

“Waaah… Brother Ming, that little bitch hit me again! You have to stand up for me!”

“Rebellious girl, apologize to your mother right now!”

Li Ming glared at Li Qingge with fire in his eyes, as if she were some heinous villain.

Li Qingge crossed her arms over her chest and looked at him with cold, clear eyes.

“Heh. My mother died a long time ago. What is she supposed to be? She wants me to call her ‘Mom’? She’s not worthy!”

Seeing her talk back, Li Ming felt his dignity as head of the household was being challenged. He suddenly lunged, ready to teach her a lesson with his fists—it wasn’t the first time he’d done something like this.

But Li Qingge was faster than him. Before Li Ming could even get close, she kicked him into the wall.

Li Huan and Li Le’s faces changed dramatically. Since when had Li Qingge become this formidable?

The two refused to believe it. They exchanged a look and charged at Li Qingge together.

Thud…

With just a little effort from Li Qingge, Li Huan and Li Le found themselves involuntarily on their knees.

Filled with humiliation, they tried to stand up, but Li Qingge circled behind them and stepped on their legs, forcing them to stay kneeling.

“Oh my, Second Sister and Third Sister, no need to be so polite. Why such a grand bow? Have your consciences finally caught up with you? Realized that everything you’ve done has been worse than pig slop, and decided to apologize to me today?”

Li Huan and Li Le couldn’t get up, cursing Li Qingge endlessly in their minds.

“Let go of my daughters!!”

An Fenglan and Li Ming did dote on their daughters. Seeing them being bullied, the two pounced at Li Qingge one after another like cats whose tails had been stepped on.

With one kick each, Li Ming and An Fenglan ended up kneeling at her feet as well.

Looking at the four of them kneeling in a neat row, Li Qingge nodded with satisfaction: “A family should always stay together, all in a row.”

Seeing An Fenglan glaring at her with death in her eyes, Li Qingge looked down at her from above and asked, “What? You don’t accept it?”

The moment the words left her mouth, she deliberately reached out and squeezed An Fenglan’s fractured right hand.

“Ahh…”

A blood-curdling scream like a pig being slaughtered tore from An Fenglan’s throat.

Li Qingge said with a look of utmost sincerity: “Oh dear, I’m so sorry. Does it hurt? But I did it on purpose, you know.”

The tone, the expression—it was infuriating beyond words.

Cold sweat dripped from An Fenglan’s temples. At that moment, she wished she could skin this little bitch alive and eat her raw.

Li Ming was seething inside. He’d worked a hard day at the factory, come home to no hot meal, and now had to deal with this family nonsense.

At that point, no one was in the mood to settle scores. They helped An Fenglan up and headed straight for the hospital.

With the annoying people gone, Li Qingge bolted the door shut. Her vision went dark for a moment, and she shook her head. This body was still a bit weak—far inferior to her original one.

The original owner had been beaten and scolded for a long time; today was just collecting a bit of interest.

Li Qingge fell asleep as soon as her head hit the pillow, but was woken in the middle of the night by a cute, milky voice.

“Beep, System is binding… Binding successful.”

Li Qingge: What’s going on, a System? Not what she thought, right? The original book never mentioned that she, the vicious supporting female character, would have a System.

“Hey, don’t play dead. Come out.”

Hearing her voice, the System felt guilty. It only then realized belatedly that it had bound itself to the Host without permission—a bit impolite, really.

“Hello, Host. I’m your Gossip System.”

Li Qingge: “Gossip System? What use is it? Can it be eaten or drunk?”

The System said in a small voice: “Host, my function is that you can gossip anytime, anywhere.”

Li Qingge smacked her lips: “Any other benefits?”

Gossip System: “We’ll give the Host a free supermarket. Don’t worry about the supplies inside running out—they refresh infinitely.”

Li Qingge was tempted. This could work. She really needed this supermarket; it suited her lazy nature perfectly. At least it wasn’t giving her a Dimensional Space where she’d have to farm herself.

In this 1970s era of scarce clothing and food, being able to eat your fill and stay warm was the greatest happiness.

The basement level of the supermarket was a Dimensional Space, usable for storing supplies.

The Gossip System flattered: “Host, besides the supermarket, there’s also a Skin-Whitening Pill. Please keep it safe.”

Li Qingge excitedly got out of bed, lit a candle, and stared intently at the ancient-looking Spatial Ring and a single white pill in her hand.
