This stupid dog is in his rut!
Yun Xi realized things were taking a turn for the worse. After an Alpha enters their rut, they become irritable and restless, their pheromones become unstable, and they turn hostile toward other Alphas while simultaneously craving the comfort of an Omega.
He felt the back of his neck to ensure his suppressant patch was secure, then rummaged through his bag to find a vial of suppressant, which he tossed to Gu Xun.
“Inject it, quickly!”
Fortunately, he had the foresight to carry suppressants with him just to prevent a situation like this.
The suppressant landed with a soft thud in front of Gu Xun. He froze for a moment, looking up at Yun Xi with eyes full of suspicion.
“You.”
“Me what? If you do not inject it now, I am leaving.”
Gu Xun frowned. “How can I be sure that what you gave me is a suppressant and not something else?”
Yun Xi was speechless. A fierce glint appeared in Yun Xi’s eyes. He suddenly strode forward, snatched up the suppressant, and made a move to leave.
Gu Xun quickly pulled at Yun Xi. “Wait, do not go yet.”
He felt as if his entire body were burning. Only when Yun Xi was near did he feel a bit more comfortable. Subconsciously, he did not want the Omega to leave. He felt the wrist he was holding. It was a thin, slender circle that he could wrap his hand around with room to spare. However, before he could measure it further, the owner pulled the wrist away.
He could not help but look up at the Omega standing before him. Yun Xi gripped his own wrist as if he had been burned, and he could not help but take another step back. The way Gu Xun had just grabbed his wrist made it look as if he were about to lick it the next second.
It seemed he really was about to lose his mind.
Yun Xi took a deep breath and kicked Gu Xun to the ground. Taking advantage of Gu Xun’s failure to react, he immediately injected the suppressant into the Alpha’s body.
“Ugh!”
Gu Xun let out a muffled groan. His tensed body softened, and the scattered pheromones gradually came under control.
Yun Xi wiped the sweat from his forehead, once again regretting his decision to go out today. He glanced at Gu Xun on the ground, and his gaze suddenly froze. Gu Xun was slumped on the floor with his head resting on Yun Xi’s left foot, eyes closed and completely motionless.
Yun Xi could not resist moving his left foot. Gu Xun’s head tilted and hit the floor. It seemed to hurt, as the Alpha let out another muffled groan, but there were still no signs of him waking up.
He almost forgot. Yun Xi patted his head in frustration. Because of his own disordered heat cycles, his suppressants were specially formulated by experts at the research institute. The dosage was larger than normal suppressants and contained a potent sedative. Gu Xun had likely just fallen straight asleep.
So here was the problem. Yun Xi looked at the instantly asleep Gu Xun and began to think. Should he leave Gu Xun and run, or just run, or just run?
Five minutes later, Yun Xi appeared at the company’s main entrance carrying Gu Xun on his shoulder, struggling toward the parking space.
“You saved me once, and I am paying you back once,” Yun Xi muttered under his breath, holding his breath against the rain hitting him in the face.
He finally made it to the car, opened the door, and tossed the unconscious Gu Xun into the passenger seat. He then ducked into the driver’s seat through the rain, set the navigation to Gu Xun’s home, and started the car.
The car disappeared into the curtain of rain. A moment later, another figure slowly stepped out of the company. Su Yanqing held a black umbrella that was nearly dry, his gaze deep as he watched the direction the car had left.
That was not the direction of the apartment.
“Heh.” After watching for a while, Su Yanqing suddenly curled his lips. “So that is how it is.”
The heavy rain fell all night and did not stop until the next morning. Yun Xi parked his car, stepped over a puddle on the ground, and walked toward the apartment building feeling exhausted.
Taking the elevator to his front door, he had just entered one digit of the code when he heard the sound of a door opening behind him. He turned around. Su Yanqing was dressed in a tracksuit and holding a black trash bag, looking as if he were about to head out.
Seeing Yun Xi, Su Yanqing seemed a bit surprised and greeted him. “Morning. Are you just getting back?”
Yun Xi tightened his clothes around him and replied in a raspy voice, “Yes.”
He did not want to say much, so he nodded and slipped into his apartment. Su Yanqing stood in place for a few seconds before walking toward the elevator.
His clothes have changed, he thought. The image of Yun Xi just now lingered in his mind.
He had changed out of last night’s pajamas. His body was shrouded in the scent of an Alpha’s pheromones and a strange fragrance of shower gel. There were several red marks on his exposed neck, his voice was hoarse, and his face was full of the weariness of someone who had not slept all night.
It seems he was well loved for a night.
Su Yanqing gripped the handle of the trash bag tightly, staring straight ahead with dark eyes, not even noticing when the elevator arrived.
“Ah, my head is so dizzy.”
Yun Xi threw himself onto his bed, feeling his head throb. By the time he had dropped Gu Xun off at home last night, it was already very late. He was too lazy to drive back home, so he simply found a nearby hotel to stay in.
He already had a bit of a cold yesterday, and after getting soaked in the rain and driving for a long time, Yun Xi developed a fever after showering at the hotel. He had to ask the hotel staff for fever medicine to take. He thought he could finally get a good night’s sleep, but even though the hotel had a high star rating, there were actually bugs in the room. They bit his neck until it was covered in bumps.
Tossing and turning in bed all night, Yun Xi hardly slept at all. When the rain finally stopped, he ordered clean clothes through a delivery app, changed, and rushed back to the apartment without stopping.
It was simply a night he could not bear to recall. It was all Gu Xun’s fault!
Anyway, I must steal Su Yanqing away. Let us see how Gu Xun loses his mind.
Yun Xi closed his eyes in a daze, still fiercely planning his revenge against Gu Xun in his heart.
When he opened his eyes again, it was already dark outside. Yun Xi’s throat was so dry it felt like it was smoking, and his stomach was growling in protest. By his count, he had only had a bit of fever medicine since last night.
He climbed up with weak limbs and drifted to the refrigerator like a ghost. He took out a nutritional supplement and gulped down half of it when he suddenly heard the doorbell ring. He carried the supplement to the door and, seeing it was Su Yanqing knocking, opened it.
“What is it?” He leaned against the door, asking lazily.
Seeing Yun Xi open the door, Su Yanqing’s gaze moved discreetly over the Omega before he spoke warmly. “I saw you did not look well this morning and was worried, so I came to check. Are you alright?”
He had likely just returned from the supermarket after work, as Su Yanqing was carrying a large bag of groceries. Yun Xi’s mouth was still full of the industrial taste of the supplement. Seeing the vegetables in the bag, he could not help but feel a slight spark of interest.
He blinked his eyes, trying to make himself look pitiful, and said in a soft voice, “Mm, I am alright, just a bit hungry.”
Su Yanqing smiled, extending the invitation just as he hoped. “Then would you like to come to my place for dinner?”
Thus, Yun Xi swaggered into Su Yanqing’s home. Candy was sitting primly at the door to greet his owner. Seeing Yun Xi behind him, the cat gave a dainty meow and stood up to rub against Yun Xi’s calf.
Yun Xi crouched down and scooped up the kitten, saying with a grin, “Candy, today I am here to share the meal your father makes.”
He held the cat and looked around the apartment. It had the same layout as his own, but the decor was even simpler. Aside from the daily necessities, there was almost nothing else to be seen. It was quite different from the feeling Su Yanqing himself gave off.
Yun Xi thought that since Su Yanqing’s personality was so gentle, he would be the type to decorate his home very warmly. But then he thought that perhaps Su Yanqing had just moved in and had not had time to add things.
Su Yanqing first put the groceries in the kitchen and brought some fruit out to the living room. “I do not have visitors often, so there is not much to eat. Please bear with it. Is there any specific dish you want to eat? I bought a lot.”
Yun Xi popped a strawberry into his mouth and followed Su Yanqing into the kitchen to order. “Just stir fried pork with lettuce, shredded potatoes, sweet and sour spare ribs, and stir fried shrimp. Can you make those?”
Su Yanqing nodded. Yun Xi felt bad about just eating for free, so he said, “I will help out as an assistant.”
Before he could even roll up his sleeves, he was pushed out of the kitchen by Su Yanqing. “You are still sick, so just rest for now.”
Yun Xi then lay down with a clear conscience. He reclined on the sofa, watching the Alpha in the kitchen from a distance. With broad shoulders and a narrow waist, wearing an apron while washing vegetables, Su Yanqing gave off a sense of being a perfect husband. Yun Xi could not help but shake his head in admiration.
In a society where Alphas were generally arrogant and conceited, there was actually such a virtuous type. He wondered if Su Yanqing was like this in bed as well. A service oriented lover?
Realizing what he was thinking, Yun Xi immediately shook his head. Sinful, sinful. Although his current plan was to seduce Su Yanqing, it had not reached that point yet.
But if Su Yanqing really marked him, Gu Xun’s expression would likely be even more spectacular. Thinking of this, Yun Xi could not help but feel a bit eager to try. To make the slap in the face even more intense, he did not mind selling out his body. It was definitely not because he was greedy for Su Yanqing’s body.
While lying down and scrolling through his social media feed, Yun Xi suddenly received a message from Cheng Zhang.
Cheng Zhang: “Emergency! Fatty Li got into a car accident and his leg is broken. He cannot make it to next weekend’s performance. Could I please ask Great King Yun to come out of retirement and save me from this disaster?” Cheng Zhang: “Image X3”
Yun Xi clicked on the pictures. Inside was the band’s drummer, Fatty Li, lying in a hospital bed with his leg in a cast, looking quite miserable. Since he was in such a state, what else could Yun Xi say?
Yun Xi: “Busy fishing for an Alpha, no time.”
After the cold rejection, Cheng Zhang immediately began a barrage of video calls, which Yun Xi declined without even blinking. After having eight video invitations declined, Cheng Zhang finally gave up and switched to messaging.
Cheng Zhang: “Little Fatty cried. Do you know that? He did not cry when he was hit by the car, he did not cry when his leg was broken, but the moment he saw your cold reply, Little Fatty cried.” Cheng Zhang: “You cold and heartless man, I will not let you off!”
Yun Xi’s shoulders shook with laughter. Candy, passing by, thought something was wrong with him and climbed onto his lap, meowing and sniffing him. He gave the cat a few strokes as Cheng Zhang sent another message. Realizing that playing the victim and making accusations were useless against Yun Xi, he switched to an Alpha luring tactic.
Cheng Zhang: “Do you not want to lure that blind date of yours? Then let him come and see your performance! Think about it: you shining on stage, and then finally singing a little love song for him. Which Alpha would not fall for that?”
Yun Xi looked at the message and fell into deep thought. After a while, he solemnly found the emoji list and sent a thumbs up.
Yun Xi: “This plan of yours is excellent. I, the King, grant your request.”
