Inside the villa, silence reigned.

Shen Yutang’s mother descended the stairs and froze in place upon hearing those words, her eyes instantly lighting up.

Her voice trembled: “Tangtang, you… you’ve really come to your senses?”Full novel: The Beautiful Supporting Character Awakens, The Cold Campus Hunk Regrets It — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

After speaking, she covered her mouth in disbelief, her eyes turning red.

Ever since Tangtang started university, it was as if she had become a different person—humbly pursuing a boy, pouring out her heart and soul, offering her genuine feelings, only to have them trampled upon time and again.

In her pursuit of him, she ignored phone calls, left messages unanswered, and returned home only to argue, driving a wedge between her and her parents.

She even began to suspect whether her precious daughter had been replaced or controlled by someone else.

As parents, how could they bear to see their daughter suffer like this?

They had repeatedly and firmly opposed their relationship.

—“Tangtang… are Mom and Dad really less important to you than Fu Hansheng?”

But who would have thought that their daughter would rather run away from home than give up chasing that boy…

Shen Yutang’s mother dared not think further.

Tears welled in her eyes as she stepped forward and embraced Shen Yutang, unsure of what to say.

“Tangtang… my dear Tangtang…”

Shen Yutang’s heart ached instantly.

As if someone had clenched it tightly and twisted it.

She held her mother even closer, her voice muffled: “I’m sorry, Mom and Dad. I was foolish back then. I will never chase after Fu Hansheng again.”

She choked back tears: “I… I missed home. I missed you both.”

In the original story, she constantly argued with her family, slamming doors and breaking things. In the end, her parents fell ill and were hospitalized, her father even developed heart disease. The family business plummeted, allowing competitors to take advantage and ultimately leading to bankruptcy.

Now that she had been reborn and awakened, she would never let these things happen again!

After hearing these words, Shen Yutang’s mother could no longer hold back her tears, which streamed down her face uncontrollably.

Shen Yutang’s father turned his head away, removed his glasses, and rubbed the corners of his eyes with his thumb before putting them back on.

His throat tightened with difficulty as he murmured softly: “It’s good to have you back… it’s good to have you back…”

Even the butler standing nearby was moved to tears. “Sir, Madam, Miss, please come to the dining table. Young Master He, would you like to stay and join us?”

In the dining room, a long table was draped with a pristine white tablecloth.

Dishes filled the entire table, steaming hot and fragrant. The king crab’s shell had been cracked open, revealing plump, snow-white meat; the starry moon cod was pan-fried to a golden crisp, sprinkled with finely chopped black truffle; the dragon beard smoked duck was arranged in a fan shape, glazed with a rich sauce.

All of these were prepared by Shen Yutang’s father himself.

Shen Yutang’s father was a workaholic, and aside from his job, cooking was his greatest passion.

Every dish on the table was Shen Yutang’s favorite.

Shen Yutang’s eyes sparkled as she hugged his arm. “Dad, you’re too good to me!”

Yet, Shen Yutang’s father remained stern, his deep voice unusually serious:

“Don’t think that just because you said you won’t chase Fu Hansheng anymore, I’ll believe you. And don’t try to play any tricks on us!”

He paused, turning his gaze to He Jin, who was quietly enjoying his meal:

“He Jin, Uncle has something to ask of you.”

He Jin seemed to have anticipated what he would say but still feigned surprise, raising an eyebrow. “What is it, Uncle Shen?”

Shen’s father patted his shoulder, speaking earnestly, “I don’t know much about the situation at school. He Jin, I hope you can keep a close eye on Tangtang at school. Don’t let her get close to Fu Hansheng, and don’t let her date any other boys. If anything like that happens, report it to me immediately, and I’ll drag Tangtang back home overnight and lock her in a dark room! I’ll have to trouble you to put in the effort, because my Tangtang… isn’t quite right in the head!”

Shen Yutang, who was drinking soup at the time, choked and spat it out.

This was truly her biological father.

He Jin’s lips curled slightly, his eyes holding a hint of amusement as he replied in a casual tone, “Understood.”

He spoke slowly, emphasizing each word, “Don’t worry, Uncle Shen. I’ll make sure to keep a close watch for you.”

After He Jin and Shen Yutang left.

Shen’s mother expressed some concern, “Is Tangtang serious this time? And how could you trouble Ah Jin to keep an eye on her?”

“Hah—”

Shen’s father revealed his shrewd and calculating nature, wrapping an arm around Shen’s mother’s shoulder as he said:

“That kid is more than happy to keep an eye on Tangtang!”

“Besides, He Jin is reliable, isn’t he ten thousand times better than that Fu Hansheng?”

With his sharp insight, Shen’s father had already seen through everything.

The rain had completely stopped.

After the rain cleared, the cobblestone path remained damp, the azure lake shimmered with ripples, and the lush green sycamore leaves still held droplets of rain, ready to fall at any moment.

Shen Yutang walked to the luxury car but hadn’t even touched the handle before she was pressed against the car door.

He Jin leaned down, his sharply defined face drawing close, his peach blossom eyes curved, and the tear mole at the corner of his eye seemed to be gilded in the sunset glow.

What was with this smug and punchable expression?

Shen Yutang felt uneasy under his gaze and shrank back, her back pressing against the cold car door.

He Jin braced one hand beside her, speaking slowly, “Your dad told me to keep a close eye on you. No dating allowed.”

Shen Yutang retorted irritably, “Then what if I don’t chase him and chase you instead?”

He Jin paused, thought it over seriously, and replied nonchalantly, “That’s not impossible. We could secretly date behind your dad’s back.”

Shen Yutang: “…Are you insane?!”

He Jin chuckled softly, then after a moment, asked, “Are you really not going to chase Fu Hansheng anymore?”

He didn’t pull away, still staying close to her—so close that Shen Yutang could smell the faint, cool scent of mint on him.

“Really, I swear.”

“Then swear.”

Shen Yutang raised her hand, three fingers pressed together. “I will never chase Fu Hansheng again in this lifetime, otherwise—”

He Jin narrowed his eyes slightly, watching her intently.

“Otherwise,” Shen Yutang said with utmost sincerity, “Fu Hansheng will be struck by lightning and turned into human tissue fragments!”

“…”

A low, almost imperceptible chuckle slowly escaped He Jin’s throat.

“Alright, Miss Shen, you said it yourself.”

He leaned in, his lips close to Shen Yutang’s ear, and threatened coldly:

“If you dare chase him again, I’ll make sure he’s done for.”
