The study lights were on.

Even though Fu Jinglan had been awake for nearly 48 hours, he still had an evening meeting to attend.

He pulled over a soft chair, placing it right next to his own. “Sit here quietly and serve me tea.”Full novel: The Big Shot is Fierce? But He Can’t Stand It When Baby Cries in Pain — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

“Okay.”

Shen Lingxi had reflected on herself.

To put it bluntly, she was just a “contract worker” for Fu Jinglan. There was no need for her to argue fiercely with him.

In a year, they would go their separate ways.

Years later, he would have sons, and she would have daughters. Even if they accidentally crossed paths, they would have to pretend they had never known each other—even though they had once been undressed in bed, doing it again and again.

Shen Lingxi obediently sat beside Fu Jinglan.

She pointed to one side.

“Brother, can I eat the things over there?”

Beside the conference table stood a solid wood food rack, filled with fresh fruit slices, adorable desserts, juices, hot tea…

“Hmm.”

Fu Jinglan had changed into a black shirt, paired with a deep brown tie and perfectly pressed trousers.

His hair was slicked back, his features sharp and striking, his complexion pale and noble.

Leaning back in his large chair, he looked exceptionally composed and charismatic.

Before the meeting officially began, Tan Zongxing, the Northern Territory Minister, sent a private video call.

“Governor Fu left in such a hurry this morning. Was the little one at home seriously ill? How is she now?”

Fu Jinglan turned to look at Shen Lingxi.

His long arm reached out, his large hand cupping her face, playing with it slowly as if petting a little rabbit.

“The little one is right beside me. She seems to be better now.”

“She can talk back, cries loudly, and loves to throw tantrums.”

Even after throwing a tantrum, she still had the energy to make noodles.

Regardless of the taste, at least they were cooked and not poisoned.

Shen Lingxi carefully kept herself out of the camera’s view.

Did Fu Jinglan really come back for her?

But in his mind, she was just that unreasonable.

And now, the way Fu Jinglan looked down at her was filled with provocation and disdain.

Shen Lingxi blinked her big eyes, and while Fu Jinglan was still stroking her face, she leaned forward with her sharp incisors and quickly nipped his finger.

To express her displeasure.

Indeed, even a little rabbit bites when provoked.

Fu Jinglan’s hand trembled slightly—it was ticklish and a little painful. “She really is better now, starting to bite people.”

Tan Zongxing found it amusing.

What exactly was this person to Fu Jinglan?

Tan Zongxing laughed, carrying a hint of roguishness that set him apart from the stern leadership.

“Since the little one is right there, why not show her face and say hello to Uncle?”

“Little one, call me Uncle.”

“I’ll bring you a gift next time we meet.”

Hmph, Shen Lingxi refused to call him. Tan Zongxing didn’t seem like a good person.

Fu Jinglan’s expression turned stern, allowing no room for frivolity.

“She won’t show her face, and she won’t call you Uncle.”

Immediately, he turned the camera toward a bookshelf. “Minister Tan, my little one likes gold bars. Bring a few more when we meet.”

Fu Jinglan ended the call, and the meeting officially began.

Shen Lingxi sat to the side, eating and drinking, her cheeks stuffed full.

Admittedly, the food at Lu Manor was truly delicious.

After a while, Fu Jinglan beckoned Shen Lingxi with a finger.

She had just put a piece of Xiao Dangao in her mouth, her cheeks bulging, and hurriedly picked up another piece, holding it to Fu Jinglan’s lips.

But she didn’t notice that it was the half-eaten matcha mousse she had bitten into earlier and forgotten to finish.

Fu Jinglan looked at the mousse.

It bore fresh, neat teeth marks.

After a brief hesitation, he lowered his head and took a bite, as if the sweet taste of Shen Lingxi’s lips and teeth still lingered, now mingling with the sweetness of the mousse.

Too sweet.

Fu Jinglan reluctantly ate it, then beckoned to Shen Lingxi again.

Shen Lingxi was in a much better mood and spoke without making a sound, “It’s delicious, right? I think it’s really good too.”

She immediately handed Fu Jinglan another piece of mango pancake.

But he directly stuffed it back into her mouth.

Fu Jinglan simply stood up and went to the food rack to get a cup of hot tea for himself.

Shen Lingxi stared at him intently.

Oh, so he wanted tea.

Actually, Fu Jinglan had wanted tea from the very beginning, but who knew Shen Lingxi only had eyes for Xiao Dangao.

She even crouched down beside the food rack.

Picking out one piece of each flavor of dessert and placing them all together on a tray.

But Shen Lingxi didn’t eat them.

While Fu Jinglan wasn’t speaking, Shen Lingxi tapped Fu Jinglan’s trousers with her fingertip and whispered to him:

“D-^^y, can I give these to Lili to eat?”

Fu Jinglan withdrew his sidelong glance and nodded slightly, indicating permission.

Seeing that Shen Lingxi was about to go now, Fu Jinglan turned off the voice call, “Go quickly and come back quickly, Shen Lingxi.”

She’s really good to her friends, not wanting to wait a second longer.

Shen Lingxi dawdled for half an hour before returning.

As soon as she entered the study, she found her chair missing.

Clearly intentional, that sly big gray wolf.

Shen Lingxi stood beside Fu Jinglan for a while, but he ignored her.

She deliberately put on a pitiful look and mumbled to Fu Jinglan, “What should I do without a chair?”

“Maybe I should just go back to my room and sleep.”

Fu Jinglan looked up and stared at her, his eyes filled with anger.

“Shen Lingxi, you promised me you’d go quickly and come back quickly, but what did you actually do?”

Shen Lingxi lowered her head to look at her toes, avoiding Fu Jinglan’s cold gaze.

She whispered in defense, “Didn’t you say I don’t have to be obedient or well-behaved?”

“Shen Lingxi, shouldn’t adults keep their word?”

Fu Jinglan stood up, his tall figure blocking Shen Lingxi, “Do you still think what you did was right?”

Before she returned, Fu Jinglan had even asked Aunt Hui to check if she had fainted again.

Or if something had happened.

After all, Shen Lanting said Shen Lingxi might not live past 23.

Shen Lingxi felt guilty and lowered her head, saying, “It wasn’t exactly right either.”

Fu Jinglan pinched Shen Lingxi’s chin, his thumb brushing over her lips.

“Shen Lingxi, your mouth isn’t just for eating Xiao Dangao; it’s also for speaking, and you must keep your word.”

“Oh.”

Shen Lingxi grabbed Fu Jinglan’s wrist and shook it, “I know I was wrong.”

“You make someone angry, and that’s it?” Fu Jinglan retorted.

Shen Lingxi finally looked up, wrapping her arms around Fu Jinglan’s neck, “Baby, close your eyes. A kiss will make you stop being angry, okay?”

Baby…

Fu Jinglan didn’t respond.

Shen Lingxi stood on her tiptoes and gently kissed and nibbled, directly targeting Fu Jinglan’s Adam’s apple.

He slowly let out a breath.

His face turned slightly to the side, his eyes lightly closed, and his brows furrowed tightly.

Shen Lingxi squinted her eyes and secretly glanced at Fu Jinglan.

He looked so… seductive.

As if he were…

The next second, the kiss moved away from his Adam’s apple. Shen Lingxi clung to Fu Jinglan’s shoulders and kissed his earlobe.

Clearly, his breathing was gradually growing heavier.

Shen Lingxi giggled mischievously, her kisses moving to Fu Jinglan’s cheek, slowly coaxing and kissing her way until she reached those scolding lips.

The milky scent acted like a catalyst, completely enveloping Fu Jinglan.

He restrained himself, pressing against Shen Lingxi’s mouth.

“Shen Xiaotu, do you call everyone baby?”

“Not at all.” Shen Lingxi shook her head. “The baby girl is Lili, and the only baby boy is you.”

Fu Jinglan raised his hand, his large palm gripping half of Shen Lingxi’s neck, along with most of her cheek.

His long fingers, distinct and bony, gently slapped her cheek.

“You have quite the problem, little girl. I won’t always indulge you.”

With that, Fu Jinglan leaned in for a kiss.

Shen Lingxi could barely breathe, whimpering softly as Fu Jinglan lifted her by the waist and settled them both into a soft chair.

She looked so small in his arms.

Both endearing and tempting to tease.

Soon after, the hand gripping Shen Lingxi’s neck slid downward.

“Mmm~”

Shen Lingxi sat astride Fu Jinglan’s lap, her body tensed as she clung tightly to him. “You… you’re bullying me.”

Fu Jinglan’s lips curved into a smile as he kissed her. “You can bully me too.”

Shen Lingxi’s breathing was completely thrown into disarray.

She had intended to retaliate by undoing Fu Jinglan’s belt, but after struggling for a while, she couldn’t manage it.

Fu Jinglan, still kissing her and smirking, took her hand directly.

“Say something nice, and I’ll help you.”

Shen Lingxi refused, panting heavily. “You… you said… my nails were too long.”

But Fu Jinglan insisted on playing the good guy to the end.

After the kiss ended, Shen Lingxi slumped dizzily into Fu Jinglan’s arms, resting her cheek on his shoulder, drowsy and on the verge of sleep.

The meeting was still ongoing.

Fu Jinglan took a moment to glance at the person on his shoulder.

Shen Lingxi had fallen asleep just like that, her face pressed against him like a little bun.

So adorable.

The evening meeting ended early at Fu Jinglan’s suggestion.

He carried Shen Lingxi back to the room, laid her on the spacious bed, and brushed the stray hairs from her face.

“Shen Little Rabbit, you should know, you’re not a clown, but a demon pill.”

“Because the first child I raised was you.”
