He only had 40 points of Star Energy right now; summoning a Void Jellyfish to act as radar was fine, but what could he actually do in a real fight?
It looked like he still needed to develop slowly.
And development required resources, it required Star Energy, it required…
Compound V.
It even more so required a place where no one was watching.
Su Kai’s mind spun rapidly.
The identity of “The Deep” was a joke within The Seven; he was an outsider.
But this had instead become his protective camouflage for now; after all, no one would really take a loser who talked to fish seriously.
But the thing he did to Starlight just now…
Su Kai clicked his tongue.
This matter wasn’t huge, but it wasn’t small either.
In a rotten company like Vought, unspoken rules and sexual harassment were probably commonplace.
But Starlight was a new addition, after all, and still had some “freshness” and “promotional value.”
If she made a scene, or if some company executive who didn’t like him decided to use this as an excuse…
“Perfect.”
Su Kai suddenly smiled, though the smile was a bit cold.
He had been worrying about how to reasonably extricate himself from the spotlight of Vought headquarters and find a remote corner to develop in peace.
This Starlight incident was a ready-made breakthrough point, wasn’t it?
A “problem member” with misconduct who affected the team’s image being transferred away from a core position, sent off to some godforsaken “observation station” or “logistics post” to “cool off” and “reflect”…
That would be perfectly reasonable.
Reasonable enough that Vought executives might be eager to do it; after all, besides being able to talk to fish, “The Deep” had basically zero combat effectiveness on land, and keeping him in The Seven just made him a mascot to fill the numbers who only caused trouble.
“No problem.”
Su Kai snapped his fingers and thought to himself,
“First, use this Starlight incident to make myself ‘stink,’ let the company take the initiative to marginalize me, and transfer me directly away from headquarters.”
“Then…
the ocean is wide for fish to leap, the sky is high for birds to fly.
Bah, I mean the stars and the sea are mine to roam!”
Having figured this out, Su Kai felt much more at ease.
He looked at the Void Jellyfish still floating around the room, emitting a soft blue light, and a thought crossed his mind.
The jellyfish floated over obediently and hovered in front of him.
“Go back.”
Su Kai smiled faintly.
The Void Jellyfish’s core light spot flickered a few times, conveying a vague emotion similar to “reluctance,” and then it wobbled back into the spatial rift that hadn’t fully closed yet.
The rift disappeared, and the room immediately returned to normal.
Su Kai stood up and stretched his neck.
“Tomorrow, I’ll go and pour more oil on this fire.”
After all, before developing, he had to play the role of the rotten “The Deep” to the end, and even play it in a way that made him even more annoying.
However, before implementing the plan, he still needed to take some small precautions to avoid being slaughtered by an angry Starlight.
…
The next morning, in the public lounge of The Seven.
Starlight arrived quite early, sitting alone on the sofa by the window, but her complexion was poor, her eyes were a bit swollen, and it seemed she hadn’t slept well all night.
She tried to keep her head down as much as possible, not wanting anyone to notice her.
Conversely, Su Kai walked in right on time.
As soon as he entered, carrying that signature, uncomfortable fishy smell, he swaggered over to the single sofa opposite Starlight and plopped down.
The sofa let out a dull thud under his weight.
Starlight’s body stiffened visibly, and she buried her head even lower.
There were a few other people in the lounge.
Queen Maeve was sitting by the bar drinking coffee; she only glanced over here once and didn’t speak.
A-Train was not there, and Black Noir, dressed entirely in black, remained in the corner like a shadow forever.
As for Homelander, the most authoritative member of The Seven, his figure had not been seen until now.
Seeing that the timing was about right, Su Kai immediately crossed his legs, cleared his throat deliberately, and spoke in a voice that was neither too loud nor too soft, but just right for everyone in the lounge to hear.
“Hey, Starlight, morning.”
Starlight looked up but didn’t make a sound; however, the disgust in her eyes as she looked at him deepened a bit.
Su Kai, however, acted as if he hadn’t seen Starlight’s expression, talking to himself, his tone carrying a bit of regret and a bit of disdain:
“About yesterday…
tsk, how should I put it.
I originally thought the newcomer would have some surprises, but the result…”
He dragged out the tone.
“Your technique is really terrible, really.
Zero sense of experience.”
“And seriously,” Su Kai looked Starlight up and down, his gaze undisguised, “your figure, it only looks okay on TV.
Up close, it’s just so-so.
The company really over-packaged you.”
As his voice fell, the lounge fell into a dead silence.
Queen Maeve put down her coffee cup, making a light “click” sound.
She turned her face to look at Su Kai, her brows knitting together.
Black Noir, in the shadows, seemed to move slightly.
And Starlight was so angry she was gnashing her teeth.
In those beautiful eyes, bloodshot veins were now filled, and a circle of golden light was already faintly shining.
Her expression was one of almost erupting rage and unbelievable humiliation.
Her face flushed red instantly, and her lips trembled.
“You…
you dare say that again!”
Starlight’s voice was trembling.
“I said you aren’t good enough, newcomer.”
Su Kai spread his hands, with a punchable expression that said “I’m just telling the truth.”
“Your technique seems to need more practice.
Oh right, remember to keep it confidential; after all, this is part of the ‘internal team training’.”
“The Deep!!!”
Starlight completely exploded.
She stood up with a swoosh, fine golden electric sparks starting to emerge from her body, crackling and popping, and even the surrounding electronic equipment fluctuated violently.
Filled with rage, she stared fixedly at Su Kai, her eyes looking as if she wanted to swallow him alive.
“The Deep!
You disgusting, sleazy bastard!
I’m going to kill you!!”
She screamed, raised her hand, and fired a blinding golden energy beam straight at Su Kai’s face!
Su Kai had been prepared, but on the surface, he still pretended to be panicked, let out a strange cry, and scrambled off the sofa.
The golden energy beam flew right past his shoulder, blasting a charred hole in the sofa he had just been sitting on; looking closely, the filling inside was already scorched and continuously emitting black smoke.
“Wow.”
Queen Maeve, who was nearby, whistled, her tone indistinguishable between sarcasm or something else.
“So lively early in the morning?”
She didn’t intervene, but instead held her coffee, sitting on the side with an expression of watching a show.
After ‘hurriedly’ dodging that hit, Su Kai climbed up and pointed at Starlight, shouting:
“Are you crazy?!
I’m your senior!
How dare you lay a hand on your senior?!
Do you still want to survive in The Seven?!”
“Fuck you!”
