Hearing from a friend that Qin Yuan had given away tens of millions, Fang Chen immediately looked bewildered.
“How did he give it away? Qin Yuan, what did you do?”
“He went to watch boxing, and anyone with eyes at the scene could tell who would win and who would lose. Qin Yuan, though, was something else. It was like his eyes were on the back of his head; he just placed random bets, and the result was basically handing free money to the boss.”
“The boss was so happy.”
“He went out and bought a car today.”
As the friend spoke, his eyes were filled with envy.
“Qin Yuan, if you have more money than you know what to do with, you might as well give it to us. We are great at spending money and will definitely make yours jingle and ring.”
This was the first time Fang Chen had heard of such a bizarre thing.
“You placed a bet?”
“You just play around for fun in a place like that. Hundreds of thousands or a few millions are fine, but tens of millions? Qin Yuan, you…”
Qin Yuan was wealthy, and everyone here knew that his personal fortune exceeded all of theirs combined.
Yet no matter how Fang Chen thought about it, he had never known Qin Yuan to have such a random habit of giving away money to people.
“Tens of millions this time, are you planning to casually give away hundreds of millions next time?”
There was a sharp edge to Fang Chen’s words.
At this moment, Qin Yuan finally lifted his gaze from his playing cards.
“If you guys can make me happy, I would gladly give you hundreds of millions if you want them.”
“Hah.”
Fang Chen merely sneered.
The other friends immediately grew interested. “You said it, don’t go back on your word later.”
“When have I ever gone back on my word?”
Qin Yuan played a card.
He was skilled at cards, and while everyone else had been waiting to make a fortune, they ended up having a good chunk of their own money won away by Qin Yuan.
“I am done playing. Qin Yuan, it is your treat.”
“Where do you want to go tonight?”
“Let me think about where we can spend the most money.”
Since Qin Yuan had so much money, as his friends, they ought to help him spend it. At least that way they would hear a sound in return; handing money away for free did not earn anyone a thank you.
“I know a place that recently opened an entertainment lounge, the programs inside are quite good.”
A friend winked, practically spelling it out that the place offered things you could not see outside.
“Nothing else?”
Qin Yuan had always lacked interest in those things. Sometimes, he genuinely disliked places that were too lively.
Immersed in certain lively atmospheres, he actually found it easier at times to feel an indescribable sense of loneliness.
Yet this loneliness had been swiftly eliminated upon meeting Lin Xi.
It seemed that simply being with Lin Xi made his heart beat faster and gave him a sense of spiritual fulfillment.
Lin Xi…
Qin Yuan smiled, truly wishing Lin Xi could be by his side right then, even if Lin Xi ignored him and kept a cold face the entire time, it would not matter.
“Let us find a place to race cars.”
Qin Yuan said, not wanting to just sit around like this because he would inevitably start missing Lin Xi, and then his heart would ache with a tightening pang.
It was better to go for some stimulating activities instead.
“Sure, I heard there is a place holding a race today, we can just head over and win a bit.”
A friend made a quick phone call, and upon hearing that they were coming, the people on the other end were more than welcoming.
Although it was getting close to dinner time, they could play first and eat later.
The group stood up, went downstairs, and got into their cars.
Before long, they arrived at a dedicated racing track, an area entirely set aside for racing.
Qin Yuan and his friends drove their supercars over, the roar of the engines audible from afar.
The sports cars sped in without slowing down at all. As they approached the crowd, a fierce braking maneuver made it look as though the vehicles were about to lift off into the air, but the next moment they came to a steady, stable halt.
No one at the scene bothered to dodge; everyone looked completely normal because similar things happened all the time.
The door of the blue sports car opened, and Qin Yuan stepped out.
Just as he emerged, a gust of wind swept by, rustling his short hair and fully revealing his charming, handsome face. Several gasps of astonishment rose from the crowd.
“Damn, so handsome!”
“What a major hottie.”
Many people, regardless of gender, cast subtle, shifting glances his way the moment they saw Qin Yuan.
Among them, a woman wearing a camisole and tight pants walked right up to him. Flipping her long hair casually, she spoke.
“Hey, I am riding in your car!”
As soon as the woman spoke, several envious glares shot at her from behind.
“Sure.”
Qin Yuan liked people who expressed themselves so generously.
Hiding, holding back, and acting coy were completely unnecessary.
People should wear their desires right on their faces; with desires and ambitions, Qin Yuan preferred this type of uninhibited person.
Qin Yuan and his group joined in. The competition was divided into two rounds, with two races in the first round, and the top five in speed advancing to the next.
Though Qin Yuan arrived late, a single look at his car made it clear his status differed from the others.
Many of the other cars cost a few million, but Qin Yuan’s ran straight into the tens of millions.
Qin Yuan was in the first heat of the first round.
Having just stepped out of the car a moment ago, he turned and got back inside.
The camisole-wearing woman followed him in. Turning to see Qin Yuan fastening his seatbelt, she smiled, looking both alluring and provocative.
“Care for a good-luck kiss?”
The woman knew of Qin Yuan. She had not met him directly, but she knew of such a person.
Seeing his blue supercar was enough to give away his identity.
“Sure.”
Qin Yuan smiled, his features seemingly glinting with specks of light under the sunlight.
With one hand resting on the steering wheel and the other pressing against Qin Yuan’s shoulder, the woman leaned over and kissed his lips.
Qin Yuan did not move; he simply looked at her with a smile that did not quite reach his eyes.
The woman lightly sucked on Qin Yuan’s lips, deliberately making an audible sound.
As she pushed back, Qin Yuan chuckled twice.
“I do not date people.”
“Me neither.”
The woman sat back down in the passenger seat and pulled her seatbelt across to fasten it.
A lock of hair fell loose, and she brushed it back.
Given her personality and looks, someone else might have lost their heart.
Yet Qin Yuan merely curved his lips in a faint smile.
“You like men, right?”
The woman turned her gaze to stare at Qin Yuan.
“Could you tell?”
“How could I not? You are so handsome; if you did not like men and liked women instead, I would be terribly jealous.”
“Liking men is fine, because you guys cannot last anyway.”
“Handsome guys never find true love. How wonderful, that makes it fair.”
Qin Yuan’s peach-blossom eyes filled with amused smiles. “Leave your number.”
The woman had such an interesting personality; being friends with her promised to be a lot of fun.
Many people at the scene witnessed the two of them kissing right before the race.
The pairing of a handsome man and a beautiful woman was undeniably striking.
Someone took a photo and posted it on WeChat Moments.
Coincidentally, someone else was scrolling through their Moments, the very same person who had previously discussed Qin Yuan giving away money.
That person immediately handed their phone over to Xie Fengbei.
“This guy sure is in a good mood.”
Having just lost tens of millions to Xie Fengbei yesterday and giving money away, he did not care at all today and went racing instead.
Only Qin Yuan could pull something like that off.
“By the way, Fengbei, do you and him have some kind of conflict?”
Otherwise, why would the two of them suddenly clash? Yang Yan could not figure it out.
Seeing the two kissing in the photo, Xie Fengbei found it strangely irritating to the eye.
The scene made it obvious that the woman was kissing Qin Yuan.
Yet in Qin Yuan’s eyes, far from being moved, he looked completely unaffected.
To him, kissing a lifeless object probably made no difference.
Yet in the subsequent non-kissing photos, Qin Yuan’s peach-blossom eyes were overflowing with deep affection.
Xie Fengbei averted his gaze.
“I have no contact with him.”
No contact, let alone any conflict.
Xie Fengbei picked up his wine glass and took a sip. Everyone else was eating here, while Qin Yuan and his crowd went off to race cars.
“Shall we go over and join the fun later?”
Yang Yan was quite interested in a person like Qin Yuan; even if they would not become close, getting to know him felt like it would be entertaining.
“What is so fun about watching cars race? Fengbei does not like those things.”
“Xie Fengbei has no interest in car racing.”
“He does, however, have some thoughts when it comes to pretty people,” Yang Yan chimed in with a laugh.
“By the way, Fengbei, your last lover broke up with you, have you found the next one yet?”
“If not, I will recommend someone to you.”
Another person pulled out their phone and flipped to a photo.
It had been taken inside a coffee shop. It was not a frontal shot, but even a side profile was enough for Xie Fengbei to see just how gorgeous the person in the server uniform was.
Even through a mere side profile, Xie Fengbei unexpectedly felt his heart skip a beat.
It was like a heart that had remained still and tranquil for so long was suddenly stirred with layer upon layer of ripples.
“This place will do.”
Xie Fengbei decided to head to the coffee shop instead of going to watch any race.
“That place closes pretty late, we can finish eating and head over slowly.”
The friend who recommended the new lover to Xie Fengbei tossed a sideways glance at Yang Yan.
Having known each other for so long, not knowing Xie Fengbei’s personality would mean failing as a friend for all these years.
Yang Yan chuckled wryly. Others might not know, but he was quite clear about the fact that none of the lovers Xie Fengbei kept around ever made any demands.
Calling them ornaments kept at home was not even entirely accurate; they were nothing more than dispensable tenants.
They merely bore the title of a lover, but Xie Fengbei just liked keeping people around.
Yet the moment the other party developed genuine feelings for him, he would immediately dismiss them. As long as they stayed content being a tenant, Xie Fengbei would grant whatever they asked for.
Sometimes Yang Yan found it baffling. Did all those people have issues, abandoning promising futures just to demand Xie Fengbei’s love?
Xie Fengbei had no love to give.
Even among friends like them, when it came to friendship, at least Yang Yan could tell that whether someone stayed or left, Xie Fengbei would not care much either way.
The things he cared about were probably very few.
Aside from liking to make a bit of money, that was.
And spending money to keep people. Calling them pampered masters would not even be an exaggeration.
Yang Yan took the friend’s phone and looked at it. Seeing it was just a side profile shot, he narrowed his eyes. Even a profile looked breathtaking, so the person in person was probably even more stunning.
Yang Yan turned to look at Xie Fengbei, who wore a completely impassive expression. Yang Yan let out a sigh.
After finishing their meal, the group drove to the coffee shop. Since Xie Fengbei had been drinking, Yang Yan drove for him.
Before long, several cars pulled up outside the coffee shop.
The sudden arrival of several handsome and striking customers made the hearts of some female staff members race instantly.
Fearing she would make a mistake if she went over, one of them pulled Lin Xi along, asking him to take the order for the movie-star-like handsome men.
Lin Xi smiled helplessly. Since they would not want to go even with good-looking guys around, he picked up the drink menu and walked over to the group.
He politely asked what they would like to order, only to find several pairs of eyes staring straight at his face.
Lin Xi was somewhat used to such attention and maintained his smile.
Yet when his gaze locked onto one of the men, his heart suddenly gave a jolt.
Clearly, the man’s friends had much sharper and more scrutinizing gazes, while this man’s expression was calm. Yet that very calmness gave Lin Xi an inexplicable sense of panic.
