The little turtle no longer cared about anything else.

It charged straight at the deeply sleeping Luoluo with its entire body.

Luoluo, who had been leaning against the crates before they disappeared and was now sleeping against the side of the truck, jolted violently from the impact and abruptly opened her dazed, blurry eyes.Full novel: The Capital Little Sweetheart Clung to a Ruffian Dad and Made Him the Richest Man — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

“Luoluo, quick!”

Seeing that she had finally awakened, the little turtle became so emotional and frightened that its voice almost cracked with tears.

“Bad people are coming to catch us! Hurry and hide in the space!”

Almost at the exact instant the truck cover was lifted and the rear cargo doors swung open—

The little girl and turtle vanished into the space with a flash.

“Dad! They’re really gone!”

The moment He Guangyao pulled back the truck cover, he saw the completely empty cargo compartment and cried out in panic.

He Guanghao, who had opened the rear doors, also stared in shock at the missing crates.

“How is this possible?! Who did this?!”

Old Master He had remained standing nearby after getting out of the truck, waiting for his sons to open the compartment before walking over.

The instant he heard their voices, he became so frantic that he dropped his cane and rushed toward the truck.

“Impossible… everything’s gone? Impossible!”

His body swayed, and even the hand gripping the side of the truck trembled violently.

“Gone… it’s all gone…”

The He family father and sons stared blankly at the empty cargo compartment, all hope instantly shattered in their eyes.

This had been the foundation their family accumulated over centuries.

The true backbone of the He family.

It was also the reason the three of them had chosen to remain in the country—to endure hardship in the countryside for a while and later rebuild the family fortune.

These treasures were the result of all their recent schemes, negotiations, and careful planning to preserve their assets in what they believed was the safest way possible.

And now—

Everything was gone.

There was nothing left.

Worse still, they had absolutely no idea how it had disappeared.

Had someone been secretly watching all their actions this entire time?

Had the people they bribed secretly betrayed them after pretending to cooperate?

Countless thoughts flashed through the minds of the He family men, yet none of them could arrive at a clear answer.

In the end, Old Master He was the first to regain his composure.

“Get in the truck! Drive back to the spot where you first noticed something was wrong!”

He Guangyao’s emotions were extremely complicated.

The disappearance of all the family assets left him anxious and devastated.

But at the same time, his earlier suspicions had been proven correct, thoroughly slapping his father and younger brother in the face.

Deep down, he felt a hidden sense of vindication.

“I told you both earlier, but neither of you believed me!”

He complained while climbing into the truck.

“Dad even said I couldn’t stay calm. Well, this is the result of you two staying calm!”

“Shut up!”

Old Master He was already burning with anxiety and could no longer tolerate his complaints.

“Drive! What’s the point of saying any of this now? If we can’t recover those things, then everything is over!”

He Guanghao didn’t dare say another word.

He knew his earlier comments had made his elder brother unhappy.

But in a family like theirs, who wouldn’t want to fight for power?

With such an enormous fortune at stake, what if competing a little made Father realize he was more suitable to inherit the family?

But now there was nothing left.

What was there left to fight over?

He might as well keep quiet and think about another path forward.

Whoever had managed to silently empty their truck without anyone noticing—

What use was there in retracing their route now?

Even if they discovered traces of the thief…

Even if they found out who had taken everything…

What could they possibly do in their current situation?

Could they really take it back?

No.

It was all gone.

Nothing would ever return.

If he’d known this would happen, he might as well have taken a larger share for his branch of the family and left with his wife and children earlier.

He had stayed behind to compete with Big Brother.

But now what was there left to compete for?

Competing over who could perform better after being exiled to the countryside?

Leaning against the seat, He Guanghao closed his eyes in despair.

Meanwhile, He Guangyao practically drove as if sparks were flying from the accelerator, quickly returning to the place where he had first sensed something strange.

He and Old Master He immediately got out to investigate.

Only He Guanghao remained slumped motionlessly in the truck, staring lifelessly out the window, unwilling to speak another word.

At this point, Old Master He no longer had the energy to scold him.

The two men switched on flashlights and searched the area carefully—

But they found absolutely no trace of anything.

Back and forth they searched the area for a very long time, desperately hoping to uncover even the slightest clue.

Yet they found nothing at all.

By the time the sky had already begun to brighten with dawn, they still had no leads whatsoever.

Old Master He collapsed onto the ground, his hands and legs trembling violently.

“It’s over… everything’s over…”

His voice was full of despair.

“Tomorrow is the final deadline for the people we bribed to help us…”

He Guangyao sat on the ground leaning against the truck wheel, his face utterly defeated.

Looking at the gradually brightening sky, he saw only darkness ahead.

Meanwhile—

Inside Luoluo’s space.

The little turtle also looked completely drained of strength.

It lay sprawled beside the pond, drinking tiny mouthfuls of water overflowing from the edge.

It had been exhausted and terrified earlier.

Thankfully, the little girl had awakened at the critical moment.

Otherwise, the turtle was sure it would’ve ended up as soft-shelled turtle soup.

And it didn’t even dare imagine how the He family would’ve vented their fury on Luoluo after discovering the treasures were gone.

Just imagining that scene made its tiny turtle heart tremble in fear.

As for little Luoluo—

She knew absolutely nothing and had already fallen asleep again.

She truly seemed like the space’s favorite child.

The moment she entered while half asleep, the space thoughtfully moved her directly onto the bed automatically.

The room’s temperature, humidity, and every other condition were adjusted perfectly to her most comfortable state.

Why was the difference between humans and turtles so unfair?

By the time Luoluo woke up, the little turtle had fully recovered and was happily playing in the pond with the two koi fish.

“Little Wu Dui!”

Luoluo came looking for it.

“Luoluo is hungry. I want meat buns.”

She didn’t remember her great achievement during her sleepy daze.

She only vaguely remembered the “meat buns.”

The little turtle poked its head out of the pond and grinned at her.

“Come on. Let’s first see what treasures we got and how many meat buns they can buy.”

As it spoke, it climbed out of the pond.

Luoluo followed behind while gnawing on an apple as they headed toward the storage room in the wooden house.

“Woooow—it’s full!”

The moment they entered the storage room, the little girl and turtle were both stunned by the piles upon piles of wooden crates filling the room.

Luoluo had absolutely no idea these boxes were all her doing.

She thought the space had magically produced more things again, just like everything else inside.

“What’s inside these boxes?”

Standing on tiptoe curiously, Luoluo tried opening the crate nearest to her.

Before she even touched it, the lid suddenly opened on its own.

“Waaah! It’s all shiny gold! So pretty!”

Luoluo’s eyes sparkled brightly as she stared at the chest full of gold bars.

Meanwhile, the poor little turtle could only run circles around her feet.

No matter how far it stretched its neck, it still couldn’t see anything.

Anxiously, it shouted,

“Luoluo! Hurry and pick Turtle up so I can see too!”
