Shen Youchu was dead.

She had been a female general of the Dragon Nation. In the new era, battlefields were dominated by superpowered soldiers. Despite all her extraordinary skills, she ultimately chose to detonate her own energy core in exchange for victory, wiping out the entire nation of the “Chicken Country” — a mocking nickname for the island nation of Japan.

Trading her single life for the destruction of an entire barbaric race — one that had become humanity’s common enemy — was worth it.

When the Ox-Head and Horse-Face Underworld Officers came to collect her soul, even they trembled at the sight of her overwhelming aura.

At moments like this, one could only say: even ghosts were afraid of her. Truly, when a person possessed righteous spirit, evil itself would avoid them.

“Heh, now this is something new,” the Ox-Head officer said. “I’ve collected souls for hundreds of millions of years, and this is the first time I’ve seen someone this calm.”

Even while speaking, he didn’t stop moving. A glowing blue chain shot straight toward Shen Youchu.

Faced with the sudden attack, Shen Youchu didn’t panic in the slightest. Following the principles she’d developed through years in the military — if you don’t submit, then fight — she grabbed the incoming chain barehanded and used it to perform a clean shoulder throw on the Ox-Head officer.

The instant he slammed into the ground, a token-like object flew from his waist and struck Shen Youchu directly on the forehead.

The next second, a rainbow-colored vortex flashed into existence and sucked her soul inside.

“Damn it…! My god-tier dimensional storage got stolen by that soul!!!” Ox-Head stomped in rage.

Horse-Face remained frozen in confusion, still unable to process what had just happened.

July, 1968.

Yangcheng City, inside the Shen family’s Western-style villa.

“Youchu! Youchu! Were you listening to your father? Hurry up and come sign Si Hanchen’s engagement cancellation papers!

Did you hear me? Stop playing dead and open the damn door!”

A middle-aged man’s voice mixed with loud banging jolted Shen Youchu awake.

“Where is this?”

Rubbing her throbbing head, Shen Youchu only remembered body-slamming some guy with an ox head. Then, upon opening her eyes, she had arrived in this unfamiliar place.

Before she could fully process the reality of transmigration, the bedroom door burst open with a loud bang.

“What’s wrong with you today? Are you trying to anger your father to death? Hurry and sign the papers! Dad’s only doing this for your own good, understand?”

As Shen Youchu looked at the anxious middle-aged man rushing toward her, a flood of unfamiliar memories crashed into her mind like a tidal wave.

Fragment after fragment of memories flashed before her eyes, causing her brows to furrow.

She had transmigrated.

Her soul had entered the body of someone who shared her exact name and appearance.

The man before her was the original owner’s vile stepfather, Zong Huaiyu. He had once been merely a driver working for the Shen family. After the original owner’s biological father died, he took advantage of the situation, pretending to be honest and attentive until he successfully wormed his way into the family as a live-in son-in-law.

As Madam Shen’s health deteriorated, the man gradually revealed his true colors. Eventually, he stopped pretending altogether and openly slept with Madam Shen’s maid, shamelessly holding nightly “discussions about family business” in the Shen household.

The pair even produced twin daughters.

Claiming the maid had been abandoned after being impregnated by some scumbag, they moved the mother and daughters into the Shen home under the guise of pity. The most ridiculous part was that the twin girls were introduced as adopted goddaughters, raised alongside the original owner as “sisters,” and even given Zong Huaiyu’s surname.

What was worse, the stepfather and mistress continuously devoured the Shen family’s assets, transferring everything into his own name.

Madam Shen, already weak and sickly, was ultimately driven to death in rage by this monstrous man.

After sorting through the memories, Shen Youchu sighed inwardly.

The original owner had truly been pathetic.

She had understood everything clearly from childhood, yet still treated this vicious stepfather as her real father, obediently listening to him in all things.

She had also endlessly tolerated the two illegitimate sisters, Zong Sisi and Zong Xiaxia.

Wasn’t that basically acknowledging thieves as family and helping tyrants commit evil?

Sure enough, pitiful people often had hateful qualities.

Within seconds, Shen Youchu organized her thoughts. A strange smile curved her lips before disappearing instantly.

Good. Very good.

Since the original owner had been weak and useless, she would personally deal with this disgusting family on her behalf.

As for how she would take revenge?

Haha. If gentle methods didn’t work, she happened to know a little martial arts too.

An evil stepfather? Illegitimate sisters?

They’d better be capable enough to survive what was coming.

With a swift motion, Shen Youchu threw off the blanket and sprang out of bed in one fluid movement. The sudden action startled both the scumbag father and Zong Sisi into taking several steps backward.

“Are you crazy? What kind of stunt was that? You scared me to death!” Zong Sisi complained in her fake-sweet voice while shaking Zong Huaiyu’s arm. “Godfather, look at her acting insane. Does she have even the slightest bit of elegance expected from a proper young lady?”

Her behavior made Zong Huaiyu look at her with obvious affection.

Sure enough, biological children were different.

Before he could say anything, Shen Youchu cut straight to the point.

“My marriage arrangement with Si Hanchen was personally arranged by the Shen family patriarch before we were even born. How can it be canceled just because you say so?

And besides, this is a matter concerning the Shen family. Since when do outsiders with different surnames get to interfere?”

Both of them froze.

Not only was Zong Sisi stunned, but even Zong Huaiyu looked dumbfounded.

Blinking his dead-fish eyes, he wondered whether the girl had damaged her brain from falling down the stairs last night. Maybe he shouldn’t have been so stingy and should’ve sent her to the hospital.

Whatever had gone wrong with her now was interfering with his grand plans.

Suppressing his irritation, Zong Huaiyu forced a kind smile onto his face.

“Youchu, be good and listen to Dad. I’m only doing this for your own good. Don’t you know? The Si family has fallen from power. Times are different now. If you marry into that family, you’ll suffer endlessly.

Dad’s only thinking of you.

If you weren’t my precious daughter, I wouldn’t bother explaining all this. Your words just now really broke your father’s heart.”

His acting was emotional enough to bring tears to his eyes.

But Shen Youchu remained expressionless.

Without even sparing him a glance, she calmly walked into the bathroom and leisurely brushed her teeth.

Watching her rinse her mouth indifferently, Zong Huaiyu clenched his teeth so hard they nearly cracked.

Originally, he had intended to continue persuading and threatening her after she finished washing up.

Instead, Shen Youchu tossed aside the towel and walked straight out of the bedroom without giving him so much as a single glance.

Using the original owner’s memories, Shen Youchu navigated the house with ease.

She plopped herself down at the dining table and waved toward the silent middle-aged maid nearby.

“Aunt Yang, serve breakfast. And don’t heat the milk — I want it cold.”

Aunt Yang froze in surprise.

Normally, the young miss always waited for everyone before eating breakfast. Why wasn’t she waiting today?

Still, she didn’t dare hesitate.

“Y-Yes, Miss. Right away.”

At this point, Zong Huaiyu completely exploded with rage.

He decided he absolutely had to teach this little bastard a lesson, otherwise she would forget who ruled this household.

Eyes bloodshot, he rushed forward in three quick strides and violently grabbed Shen Youchu by the collar, trying to yank her to her feet.

But in the next second, he froze.

No matter how hard he pulled, Shen Youchu remained unmoving, like a thousand-ton boulder.

“Let go of me. I’ll only count to three.”

Her voice carried an inexplicable pressure unlike anything Zong Huaiyu had ever experienced. Instinctively, he almost loosened his grip.

But before he could react, Shen Youchu skipped directly from “three” to slapping him across the face with terrifying force.

SMACK!

The crisp sound echoed through the room.

Zong Huaiyu’s fat face rippled like waves before he crashed to the ground, still twitching from the aftershock.

“Ahhh! Dad—! G-Godfather, are you okay?!”

Zong Sisi covered her mouth in disbelief, so shocked that she even forgot to help the man lying on the floor with his eyes rolled back.
