Time passed in a blink, and it had already reached the next day.

Slowly, Su Nuohan opened her eyes.

Seeing that she had awakened after keeping watch the entire night, Fu Chengyan felt a surge of joy and said with a grin, “You’re awake? How do you feel?”Full novel: The Capitalist’s Daughter, Blessed with Koi Luck, Emptied Her Family’s Assets and Married for Good Luck — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Su Nuohan glanced at him but did not respond.

Her consciousness gradually returned, and she remembered that she had overexerted herself using her energy to treat Fu Qianqian’s legs and had fainted because of exhaustion.

She struggled to sit up.

Seeing this, Fu Chengyan quickly supported her and thoughtfully placed a cushion behind her back.

“I’m fine, just a little weak,” Su Nuohan said, her voice still slightly hoarse. “Where is Qianqian? How is she doing?”

The first thing she asked about after waking up was actually Fu Qianqian.

Fu Chengyan’s heart stirred slightly. “She’s fine. Last night she kept practicing walking and can already walk a short distance on her own.”

“That’s good.” Relief appeared on Su Nuohan’s pale face as she smiled softly.

That smile, like thawing ice and melting snow, made Fu Chengyan momentarily dazed.

“Are you hungry? I’ll have someone prepare something for you.”

Su Nuohan nodded with a smile. “A little, yes.”

Hearing that, Fu Chengyan also smiled. “Alright, I’ll go tell the kitchen now.”

“Mm.”

Fu Chengyan left the room.

Not long after, Madam Fu and Fu Qianqian hurried in together, both looking overjoyed.

“Nuohan!” “Sister-in-law!”

“Oh my goodness, my dear daughter-in-law, you scared me to death yesterday. How are you feeling now?” Madam Fu said as she sat by the bedside, holding her hand with deep concern.

Meanwhile, Fu Qianqian looked full of guilt. “I’m sorry, sister-in-law. It’s all because of me that you fainted.”

Su Nuohan looked at her and smiled gently. “Silly girl, what nonsense are you talking about? You are my sister. If you are in trouble and I am capable of helping, how could I just stand by and do nothing?”

Hearing this, Fu Qianqian was so moved that tears fell like raindrops. She threw herself into Su Nuohan’s arms. “Waaah… thank you, sister-in-law.”

Although her body was still somewhat weak, Su Nuohan still felt warm inside as she was hugged.

She gently patted Fu Qianqian’s back, comforting her like a child.

Watching this harmonious scene between the two women, Madam Fu smiled so widely that she could not close her mouth, even wiping tears of joy from her eyes. “Alright, alright, Qianqian, don’t press on your sister-in-law anymore. She just woke up and is still weak.”

Only then did Fu Qianqian realize, quickly standing up and wiping her tears in a flustered manner. “Sorry, sorry, sister-in-law. Did I hurt you?”

Su Nuohan shook her head with a smile. “No.”

Still teary-eyed yet smiling, Fu Qianqian said, “I was just too happy and forgot you’re still weak.”

“I’m fine. How do your legs feel now?”

“They’re completely fine, sister-in-law! I walked from my bed to the window this morning myself. The sun outside even felt brighter than before! I also climbed upstairs just now on my own,” Fu Qianqian said excitedly, her eyes shining with hope for a new life.

Su Nuohan nodded. “That’s good. Your legs have been inactive for too long and your muscles were severely atrophied. Now that they’ve recovered, you must take it slow and not rush.”

“Yes, sister-in-law, I will remember that.”

Her serious tone made both Su Nuohan and Madam Fu laugh.

Madam Fu held Su Nuohan’s hand, looking at her more and more fondly. “Nuohan, I really must thank you. You are truly the Fu Family’s lucky star!”

“That’s right, sister-in-law! If anyone dares bully you in the future, I’ll stand up for you!” Fu Qianqian said, clenching her small fists and gesturing boldly.

At that moment, Fu Chengyan entered carrying a small tray. On it was a steaming bowl of chicken congee and a few light side dishes.

All three women turned to look at him in surprise.

He paused and frowned slightly. “What’s wrong? Why are you all looking at me like that?”

The three of them exchanged glances and then laughed.

Fu Qianqian circled around him with her hands behind her back and nodded approvingly. “Mm, brother, good performance.”

Several black lines appeared on Fu Chengyan’s forehead.

“….”

Madam Fu smiled warmly. “Not bad. My Yan’er has finally grown up and knows how to care for his wife and take care of her.”

Fu Chengyan was rendered speechless.

Madam Fu then clapped her hands. “Oh, I just remembered I have something to do. Nuohan, let Yan’er take care of you. I’ll come back later.”

With that, she pulled Fu Qianqian along.

“Sister-in-law, rest well. I’ll come see you later,” Fu Qianqian said with a smile before leaving as well.

Soon, the room became quiet again.

Fu Chengyan placed the congee by the bedside and looked at her sincerely. “Thank you.”

Su Nuohan was slightly taken aback. She did not expect this proud, aloof warlord to thank her so formally.

She smiled faintly. “It’s nothing. Qianqian is my sister. It’s only right.”

He nodded. “Also… I was too harsh yesterday. I’m sorry.”

“It’s fine.”

He nodded again, then said, “Finish this porridge first. I’ll get you some soup afterward.”

Without hesitation, Su Nuohan took the bowl and began eating.

Fu Chengyan watched her quietly, momentarily lost in thought.

This woman was not only beautiful—she even ate with such elegance. Even though she was clearly hungry, her movements remained refined and graceful.

Was she really raised in the countryside? She looked more like a noble young lady from a prestigious family.

Soon, she finished the congee and naturally handed him the empty bowl.

He took it and brought her a bowl of chicken soup.

After finishing the meal, she visibly regained some energy.

Seeing this, a faint smile appeared on his lips.

Then, noticing a bit of soup at the corner of her lips, he unconsciously took out a handkerchief and reached out to wipe it for her.

Instinctively, she tilted her head slightly and frowned. “What are you doing?”

Only then did he realize his action. He withdrew his hand casually, though the tips of his ears turned slightly red.

“Ahem… there’s some soup at your mouth. I was just going to wipe it for you.”

Hearing this, she casually wiped it with her sleeve.

Fu Chengyan: “……”

He sighed inwardly.

It seemed he had misjudged her. For someone so casual… she truly did seem like she came from the countryside.
