Song Yunsheng was covered in a cold sweat, seemingly not even noticing who was holding her. She simply leaned into Sang Yu’s embrace with her eyes closed, looking unexpectedly well-behaved.
As Sang Yu walked out carrying her, Lu Lingxi, who was waiting outside, nearly jumped in shock. Her expression changed instantly, and she asked with a tremble, “This… President Song??”
Sang Yu felt helpless and shrugged. “Her gastric problems flared up; she was curled up on the bed resting. There was no other way. Let’s get her to the hospital first we can’t just watch her faint from the pain.”
Perhaps hearing her voice, Song Yunsheng’s brows furrowed slightly, but she didn’t open her eyes. Instead, she seemed to instinctively curl up even tighter.
This made Sang Yu feel somewhat uncomfortable. Pursing her lips, she placed Song Yunsheng in the back seat and casually stuck a heating pad on her abdomen. Just as Sang Yu prepared to return to the passenger seat, Song Yunsheng opened her eyes and asked in a shaky voice:
“Where are you going?”
Sang Yu was startled by the sound. From the front seat, Lu Lingxi glanced back and asked tentatively, “Are we still going to the hospital?”
Before she could finish, Song Yunsheng’s face grew even paler. Sang Yu watched wordlessly; even if she suspected what Lu Lingxi was implying, Song Yunsheng’s acting couldn’t possibly be this good, right? So, she remained firm: “Go.”
Lu Lingxi had nothing left to say. Song Yunsheng tilted her head to look at Sang Yu, opening her mouth as if to say something, but she was so pained that only a raspy breath came out. Sang Yu bit her lip and reached over to pull the seatbelt across her. Despite the many questions in her heart, she couldn’t bring herself to ask them seeing Song Yunsheng in such a state.
After receiving an IV drip at the hospital, some color finally returned to Song Yunsheng’s face. Sang Yu covered the medical expenses and, seeing that she could now move around freely, gave a final instruction.
“I’ve paid your medical bills and brought you to the hospital. Technically, I’m your savior now, so remember to pay me back extra.”
With that, Sang Yu turned to leave.
Song Yunsheng was clearly displeased. She called out coldly, “Stop right there.”
Sang Yu ignored her. Song Yunsheng had no choice but to continue: “Legally, at least, we aren’t divorced yet. Sang Yu, do you have to be this cold?”
It was truly rare to hear the word “cold” come out of Song Yunsheng’s mouth. Sang Yu turned around and nodded calmly. “You’re right. The relevant clauses in the agreement haven’t been revised by a lawyer yet… but don’t worry, I’ll put that on the schedule. I expect to have a second draft ready very soon.”
Clearly, Song Yunsheng’s mention of the divorce wasn’t because she actually wanted one. Hearing Sang Yu’s words, her displeasure deepened, yet she asked with forced patience, “Is there really no topic between us other than divorce?”
Sang Yu looked at her without speaking. Song Yunsheng bit her lip, and in the next moment, she began talking to herself.
“The nanny took a leave of absence. I originally wanted to come back to get something to eat, but I hadn’t eaten all morning. Not long after I got home, my stomach started acting up. I thought it would get better if I rested for a bit, but…”
“—But I came back because I’m preparing to move out.”
Sang Yu interrupted her rudely. She didn’t want to see Song Yunsheng acting like a completely different person, nor did she want to let her own heart soften. She decided to say it all at once.
“I have no interest in discussing any topic with you other than divorce. Right now, all I want is to divorce you.”
Song Yunsheng frowned, seemingly unable to comprehend why Sang Yu was still being so blunt even after she had humbled herself. Her expression tightened, and even the few traces of feigned friendliness vanished. She gritted her teeth and asked, “I don’t understand. Why are you so determined to divorce? Is it just because I’m unwilling to sleep with you?”
It was a brutally direct question. Sang Yu nearly laughed out of pure anger. She took a deep breath, equally unable to understand how she could have been so blind. Song Yunsheng had clearly seen her medical records; she already knew the truth.
Yet even now, she stubbornly believed it was because Sang Yu was “insatiable” or because she “refused to go to bed.”
Had Song Yunsheng not noticed the cold treatment of those past days at all? Or did she think that was normal? Did she think Sang Yu was born to work like an ox for her?
Sang Yu took another deep breath to calm her emotions, unwilling to argue further. After a moment of thought, she simply admitted to that ridiculous reason: “Yes.”
Sang Yu thought this would make Song Yunsheng back off, but no one knew where Song Yunsheng’s sudden persistence came from.
Upon hearing this, Song Yunsheng didn’t even care that they were in a hospital ward. she asked seriously, “Then how many times a month do you want? We can re-draft the agreement. I can try my best to cooperate.”
Never in her life did Sang Yu imagine she would hear such an absurd question from Song Yunsheng’s mouth.
Thinking Song Yunsheng was being ridiculous, she shot back, “You didn’t even cooperate with the ‘once a month’ written in the agreement, and now you’ll cooperate if we write down a few more times? Song Yunsheng, are you a masochist?”
Without waiting for Song Yunsheng to defend herself, Sang Yu spoke with absolute finality.
“Even if you write down thirty times a month, it has nothing to do with me. I’m not willing to spend my life with a block of wood. That’s it.”
Sang Yu turned and left.
Long after she had gone, the sound of glass shattering suddenly echoed in the ward. The caregiver rushed in to clean up and paled upon seeing a cut on Song Yunsheng’s hand from the flying shards.
Song Yunsheng, however, seemed oblivious to it. She simply clenched her teeth, her cold and exquisite features still brimming with rage.
Sang Yu knew none of this. When she said she was leaving, she meant it. Taking advantage of the fact that Song Yunsheng was still in the hospital, she finished packing and moved out immediately.
The production team had already sent over the complete script. Sang Yu knew very well that she had wasted three years. Even if the director was satisfied with her audition, it wasn’t enough; that was just one scene. Once they started filming, there would be a massive amount of work. She had to do her homework.
Even if she couldn’t return to her peak state from three years ago overnight, she at least had to find that feeling again and not drag the production down.
As for the lawyer, Lu Lingxi happened to give her the contact information for the lawyer they had discussed earlier. Sang Yu was still considering when to approach Song Yunsheng when Song Yunsheng suddenly called her.
She seemed to have recovered well. Her words were brief and to the point, stating that she had already brought a lawyer over and wanted Sang Yu to come and discuss the details.
Sang Yu was surprised, wondering why Song Yunsheng had suddenly had another change of heart.
While she was hesitating, Song Yunsheng suddenly coughed on the other end. She casually mentioned she was still in the hospital and added, “The soup you made last time was good. It’s better than the hospital food.”
For the usually indirect Song Yunsheng, this was practically a “straight ball” confession, but Sang Yu didn’t have a particularly good impression of that soup.
She let out a silent, mocking laugh, then pretended not to understand. She simply said, “I see. I’ll bring my lawyer over later.”
With that, Sang Yu decisively hung up and contacted her lawyer.
Song Yunsheng’s expression soured once again after being hung up on. Her brows were tightly knit. At this point, even she found the situation thorny.
Sang Yu refused to listen to her at all, insisting on a divorce regardless of anything else. They couldn’t even have a single proper conversation.
Song Yunsheng was proud and arrogant; she didn’t think for a second that the problem lay with her. She only felt that Sang Yu was being too stubborn.
As she was brooding, there was a knock on the ward door.
Su Miao entered carrying a thermos, saying with concern, “Sister Yunsheng, why don’t you take better care of yourself? I heard you were hospitalized, so I specifically made some soup. Why don’t you try some?”
Her voice was soft and gentle, which made Song Yunsheng feel a bit better. But remembering the previous phone call, Song Yunsheng shook her head and didn’t take it.
She simply said, “Why are you here? Aren’t you joining the cast soon? There’s no need to come to the hospital.”
“How can it be unnecessary?” Su Miao shook her head. Seeing that Song Yunsheng had no intention of drinking the soup, she had no choice but to set the thermos down. She then asked with feigned casualness, “Does that mean Sister Sang Yu hasn’t been here yet?”
“Why mention her.”
Song Yunsheng’s expression was flat, making it impossible to read her emotions. However, Su Miao had grown up with her and knew her temperament.
Knowing she probably wasn’t angry, Su Miao plucked up the courage to tentatively mention Sang Yu’s audition from a few days ago.
The moment Su Miao finished speaking, Song Yunsheng looked at her with a dangerous expression. “What did you just say?”
Su Miao’s heart sank. She was instantly certain that Song Yunsheng had no idea about this.
