Chapter 7 — System Hack

The golden rings continued to rotate around Renjiro Kurogane.

The trusted route remained open, and for the first time since Class 3-B had vanished from Tokyo, Renjiro stopped merely observing the System.

He began to write.

Not quickly. Speed was useless if speed created noise.

The reconciliation layer was already working around him, attempting to solve the problem that had delayed his integration from the beginning. Too many compatible directions existed within his profile. Swordsmanship responded. Martial structures responded. Crafting, magic and several other pathways showed high compatibility, yet none settled cleanly enough for the System to establish one conventional Class as dominant.

Chronies had authorized the System to construct a compatible solution. That authorization was the opening.

Renjiro did not replace it. He did not force a second route into the architecture or attempt to seize authority that had never been granted to him. He simply supplied another answer through the process that was already trusted to produce one.

A correction entered the reconciliation stream. Small. Structurally valid.

The System processed it. No warning appeared. No interruption followed. Chronies remained focused on the unstable compatibility display surrounding him.

Renjiro waited.

ACCEPTED

Good.

A second correction followed. Then a third. Each one resembled data the reconciliation layer could have generated while adapting an unresolved profile. Nothing arrived from an external connection. Nothing attempted to bypass authentication. From the System's perspective, the target itself was returning compatibility information through a workflow already authorized to accept it.

Renjiro kept his breathing slow. His expression remained unchanged. Inside, his concentration sharpened until almost everything else became background information.

The first structure began taking shape.

It was not a Class. That was intentional.

A Class was useful, but it was still a category produced by Chronies's Divine System to define a role. Renjiro wanted something beneath that. A foundation. A body capable of surviving whatever waited beyond the transfer.

The System resisted immediately. Not with an alarm. With incompatibility.

Renjiro had expected that.

His first declaration exceeded the limits normally assigned to a transferred Human. Rather than forcing verification against an impossible request, he let the proposal fail, studied why it failed, and rebuilt it.

Instead of demanding one overwhelming result, he separated the requirement into functions the System already understood: environmental adaptation, poison and disease resistance, protection against curses and mental interference, greater physical and magical durability, regeneration, energy efficiency, broader affinity tolerance and enhanced processing capacity.

None of those concepts were foreign to the architecture. The System already possessed structures capable of expressing them.

Renjiro did not invent new laws. He changed the limits placed on existing ones.

The reconciliation layer attempted to normalize his corrections back toward ordinary Human parameters. Renjiro allowed it to succeed, then used the accepted result as the baseline for the next correction.

The System raised the value. Accepted. He adjusted from there. It normalized again. He adjusted again.

A controlled loop developed. Not infinite. Not careless. Every successful reconciliation established a new internally valid state, and Renjiro built from that state rather than repeatedly demanding a final result the System would reject.

The limits moved gradually higher, broader and deeper.

Chronies' eyes narrowed.

Renjiro stopped immediately.

The golden rings continued moving around him as though nothing had changed.

COMPATIBILITY RECONCILIATION IN PROGRESS

Chronies raised two fingers. The outer ring slowed.

Renjiro withdrew completely from the correction channel. He did not prepare another change or leave anything waiting behind the current process.

Five seconds passed. Then ten.

Chronies watched the golden structures around him with increasing concentration. Renjiro remained still. There was no failure for her to find. No broken permission. No external process. No unauthorized connection. Only an unusually difficult compatibility case producing an unusually large number of adaptive corrections.

The outer ring gradually returned to its previous speed. Chronies lowered her hand.

Renjiro waited through another complete cycle before touching the workflow again. Patience mattered more now than ambition.

The correction route opened. He resumed.

Resistance. Adaptation. Another limit. Another valid state.

The body foundation stabilized, not because Renjiro forced verification to accept something invalid, but because the profile had been changed incrementally until the final structure was internally consistent.

DIVINE BODY

Renjiro read the designation once. The name meant very little by itself. The functions mattered.

Integration began.

Heat spread through his chest. Then cold. Then something that resembled neither.

His heartbeat stopped.

Renjiro felt the absence immediately.

One second. Two.

Somewhere beyond the golden rings, Junpei's voice reached him.

“Kurogane?”

Renjiro heard him. He could not answer.

His heart moved again. One slow, heavy beat passed through his chest before the rhythm returned to normal.

Then something changed behind Renjiro's eyes. The symbols surrounding him became sharper—not brighter, but clearer. Layers he had previously needed to infer separated naturally. Processes that once overlapped into a single stream became distinguishable structures.

Renjiro could follow the ongoing reconciliation while simultaneously monitoring Chronies' hand position, the rotation of all three golden rings, Junpei's breathing somewhere behind him and the pressure moving through his own body.

There was no strain. That was more concerning than impressive.

Renjiro immediately suppressed the urge to test it. Possession was not mastery. The integration was not finished.

Fragments of information passed through his awareness—enhanced vitality, mana adaptation, stamina, physical durability, magical resistance, accelerated recovery, expanded elemental tolerance, ocular functions and parallel processing.

Far too much to investigate now.

He let the System finish.

DIVINE BODY — INTEGRATION COMPLETE

The message disappeared.

Chronies' expression changed. Barely. But Renjiro noticed. Something about the result had registered as unusual.

He did not give her time to focus on it. The reconciliation layer was still open, and another unresolved requirement could legitimately keep it working.

Resources. Tools. Adaptability. Creation.

Renjiro fed the next problem into the process.

✦ ✦ ✦

Creation proved more complicated than the body foundation.

The deeper Renjiro examined the available structures, the clearer one fact became: the System's definition of creation was much broader than the word suggested.

Spell formation existed. Skill construction. Item generation. Material conversion. Weapon frameworks. Biological templates. Even processes related to entities that Renjiro did not yet understand well enough to categorize.

Living and non-living creation were separated by different restrictions, but both were present within the architecture.

Interesting. Also dangerous.

Renjiro did not attempt to copy every function he could see. That would have been stupidity disguised as ambition.

Instead, he constructed an authority capable of interfacing with those frameworks later. A foundation. A tool. Its final ceiling could be determined when he actually understood what he possessed.

The first declaration failed. Too broad.

Renjiro narrowed the authority. Rejected.

He changed the dependency structure. The next version survived longer.

PARTIAL COMPATIBILITY

Good.

He followed only the branch the System had already accepted. Magic construction passed first. Skill construction followed with restrictions. Weapon and item construction integrated cleanly. Material construction also succeeded.

Then he reached the entity framework.

Resistance. Not rejection.

Renjiro stopped.

The distinction mattered. The function existed, but the System considered the current declaration insufficient to access it safely.

Fine.

He did not need to solve every future problem inside one integration window. He only needed the authority to exist.

The System reconciled again.

DIVINE CREATION

Renjiro stored the name without reacting.

Verification began. For a moment, the golden circle beneath his shoes brightened.

Chronies looked directly at him.

Renjiro allowed his eyes to unfocus slightly, keeping his breathing and posture as ordinary as possible. No tension. No satisfaction. No visible awareness of anything beyond what a confused student should reasonably understand.

The verification completed.

DIVINE CREATION — INTEGRATION COMPLETE

Two.

Renjiro moved to the next requirement.

Concealment.

This one he had already considered before entering the circle.

Asteria possessed magic. That changed everything. A disguise that only changed his face would be useless if a spell could identify his soul, aura or energy signature.

Physical appearance was only one layer: height, weight, skeletal structure, hair, eyes, voice, scent. Useful. Insufficient.

The physical portion integrated easily. The identity layer did not.

The System repeatedly attempted to preserve a fixed marker beneath any transformation. Reasonable. An identification system that allowed its targets to erase every persistent marker would eventually make identification meaningless.

Renjiro did not remove the marker. He separated it.

His true identity remained intact. Only the identity presented outward became mutable.

The reconciliation layer paused. Verification examined the structure.

There was no contradiction. The original profile still existed. The output had changed.

ACCEPTED

DIVINE DISGUISE

A faint pressure passed across Renjiro's skin. Nothing about his visible body changed.

Good.

DIVINE DISGUISE — INTEGRATION COMPLETE

Three.

Chronies stepped closer.

Renjiro detected the movement through the altered awareness Divine Body had given him before he raised his eyes.

“Kurogane Renjiro.”

“Yes?”

His answer came immediately. Normal.

Chronies studied him.

“How do you feel?”

“Fine.”

“No pain?”

“No.”

“Dizziness?”

“No.”

“Anything you believe I should know?”

Renjiro met her golden eyes.

There were many things she would probably find relevant. He selected one that was completely true.

“The process feels complicated.”

Chronies remained silent for two seconds.

“It is.”

Renjiro nodded. Nothing more.

Behind him, Junpei whispered, “That's the most Kurogane answer possible.”

Mika answered more quietly. “Shut up.”

Chronies' attention remained on Renjiro for another moment before returning to the System.

“Your reconciliation is unusually extensive.”

“Is that bad?”

“No.”

A small pause followed.

“Unusual is not the same as dangerous.”

Renjiro almost found the wording amusing. Almost.

The trusted route pulsed again. Still open.

Chronies could not close it yet. As far as the System was concerned, his compatibility remained unresolved.

Renjiro continued.

✦ ✦ ✦

Storage sounded simple until he attempted to define what he actually wanted.

Asteria's System already possessed ordinary inventory structures. Some used fixed slots, others limited mass or volume, while more advanced versions relied on spatial pockets and dimensional containers.

Renjiro ignored them.

Fixed capacity created a future limitation with no useful benefit. He was being transferred to a world whose technology, resources, trade systems and geography were still almost entirely unknown. If he eventually needed to carry large quantities of food, equipment, raw materials, books, weapons or something he could not yet imagine, an arbitrary storage cap would eventually become a problem.

He searched the architecture available through reconciliation: space, separation, containment, retrieval and temporal isolation.

The first structure collapsed almost immediately. The second survived longer. A third reached verification before failing.

Renjiro adjusted.

The System attempted to assign a maximum capacity. He removed the boundary. Rejected.

He replaced the boundary with an expandable spatial definition. Partial acceptance.

The System attempted to calculate maximum expansion. Renjiro redirected the structure toward external spatial indexing instead of an internally fixed container.

The reconciliation layer slowed.

For the first time since System Hack began, Renjiro felt genuine strain. Not physical strain. Computational.

The structure was substantially larger than the previous ones.

Divine Body responded before he consciously requested it. His thoughts separated. One stream followed the spatial architecture while another monitored Chronies. A third maintained breathing and physical posture, while a fourth tracked verification responses.

Parallel processing.

Renjiro noticed it, then deliberately ignored it.

Later.

The storage structure stabilized. Then expanded.

Renjiro searched for a capacity value.

Nothing.

He searched a second time. Still nothing.

No conventional upper boundary appeared anywhere he could detect. The structure did not behave like an ordinary container. It existed outside local storage parameters entirely.

Additional functions emerged during reconciliation: preservation against ordinary degradation, temperature stability, temporal isolation, automatic organization and indexed retrieval.

INFINITE ITEM STORAGE

VOID BOX

Renjiro's eyes narrowed by less than a fraction.

Infinite.

He had only aimed for expandable. The reconciliation process had gone further.

Interesting. Very interesting.

Testing it inside the Divine Intermediate Space would have been reckless. Renjiro left it untouched.

VOID BOX — INTEGRATION COMPLETE

Four.

One major requirement remained. The most important one.

Information control.

Power could be hidden physically. A Status was different. If the empire waiting on Asteria could simply inspect his soul and read everything written there, then most of his concealment work would become irrelevant before he ever left the summoning chamber.

Renjiro did not need Valentia to believe he was mysterious. Mystery attracted attention.

He wanted something safer. He wanted them to believe they understood him completely, and that what they understood had no value.

The System maintained a true soul profile. Good. Renjiro left it intact. Destroying or corrupting his own core information would be pointless.

Instead, he constructed an authorized display layer that responded whenever ordinary external observation requested Status information.

The architecture resembled Divine Disguise, except this time the target was not his physical identity. It was the System's output.

Renjiro built the false profile carefully.

Blank would attract attention. Corrupted data would attract even more. Making himself impossibly weak could be suspicious for a summoned Human.

He needed ordinary failure. Something disappointing. Something an empire searching for Heroes could understand immediately and discard without needing further investigation.

The false profile assembled.

RENJIRO KUROGANE

CLASS: UNSKILLED CIVILIAN / FARMER

LEVEL: 1

HP: 50

MP: 10

SKILLS: NONE

EVALUATION: TRASH / UNUSABLE COMPONENT

Renjiro read it.

Good.

The wording was insulting. Even better.

Valentia had pulled thirty students and one teacher across worlds because it wanted Heroes. The fastest route toward freedom was obvious.

Become the one weapon they did not want.

The System attempted to reconcile the false layer with the true profile.

Mismatch. Expected.

Renjiro did not ask the architecture to accept the false information as true. He defined it as presentation: true data beneath, authorized false output above.

Verification began.

Identity integrity. Pass. Soul integrity. Pass. Internal consistency. Pass.

External display routing—pause.

A warning almost formed.

Renjiro redirected the masking layer through the mutable identity structure already accepted beneath Divine Disguise.

The warning dissolved. The logic now made sense from inside the System itself. A mutable external identity could possess a mutable external information response.

SPOOFING & STATUS MASKING — INTEGRATION COMPLETE

Five.

Renjiro stopped.

The route was still open. He could have continued. That was precisely why continuing would have been stupid.

Greed destroyed clean exits.

He already possessed solutions to the immediate problems he had identified: survival, adaptability, creation, concealment, storage and information control. Everything beyond that increased exposure without solving an urgent need.

Renjiro withdrew from the correction channel gradually. No abrupt disconnection. No abandoned process. He simply stopped supplying additional corrections and allowed the System to resume the task Chronies had originally authorized.

Class reconciliation.

A conventional proposal appeared. Renjiro left it alone.

The System compared it against his now-modified profile. The result destabilized.

Another template appeared. Sword. Rejected. Magic. Rejected. Crafting. Partial. Martial. Partial.

Multiple pathways remained compatible. None established dominance.

Good.

Renjiro did not need a dramatic hidden Class. He did not need a legendary title floating above his soul. The functions already existed. Another label would only create additional information someone might discover.

Chronies raised one hand. The golden rings slowed.

“Your integration has stabilized.”

Renjiro looked at her.

“Okay.”

A quiet sound came from Junpei.

Mika whispered, “Don't.”

“I didn't say anything.”

“You were going to.”

Chronies ignored both of them. She examined several final readings.

For the first time since Renjiro entered the circle, uncertainty appeared in her expression. Not fear. Not confusion. Uncertainty.

“Your compatibility remains difficult to classify,” she said.

Renjiro stayed silent. That suited him perfectly.

“The transfer adaptations are complete. Your soul is stable, and your body is stable.”

Chronies examined another section of the golden structure.

“But the conventional Class result is...”

A small pause.

“...poorly resolved.”

Shizuka stepped closer immediately.

“Does that mean something is wrong with him?”

“No.” Chronies answered before Renjiro could. “Nothing indicates damage.”

Some tension left Shizuka's shoulders.

“Then he'll be alright?”

“Yes.”

Chronies looked at Renjiro again.

“He should be.”

Renjiro almost appreciated the refusal to give absolute certainty. Almost.

The circle began fading.

For the final time, Renjiro watched the trusted route close: authentication withdrawn, write permissions removed, the reconciliation workspace sealed, the target profile finalized.

No alarm appeared. No rollback triggered. No forced audit began.

The final golden strand detached from his chest.

Gone.

Renjiro stepped outside the circle.

Junpei approached almost immediately.

“So?”

Renjiro looked at him.

“So what?”

“What did you get?”

“I don't know.”

Junpei stared.

“You were in there longer than everyone else.”

“Yes.”

“And you don't know?”

“No.”

Mika arrived behind him.

“Maybe his Class is Professional Pain in the Ass.”

Junpei pointed at her. “That has to be S-rank.”

Renjiro walked past both of them.

“Oi!”

He ignored Junpei.

Reina stood several metres away. She had not joined the others. Of course she was watching.

Renjiro met her eyes. Her gaze moved toward the place where his integration circle had disappeared, then returned to him.

“That took a long time.”

“Yes.”

“What happened?”

“Integration.”

Reina's expression flattened.

“I know that.”

“Then why ask?”

She stared at him. Renjiro continued walking.

“Kurogane-kun.”

He stopped.

Reina lowered her voice. “You look different.”

Renjiro's attention sharpened.

“How?”

Her eyes moved over him—not his face, but his posture, eyes and movement.

After several seconds, Reina frowned.

“I don't know.”

Renjiro waited.

She eventually shook her head. “Maybe I'm imagining it.”

“Probably.”

He walked away.

Reina did not look convinced.

Problem. A small one. For now.

✦ ✦ ✦

Chronies raised both hands. The remaining golden structures around Class 3-B faded until the Divine Intermediate Space became white and empty again.

Thirty students. One teacher. Every integration complete.

Shizuka moved toward the centre of the group.

“Everyone, listen.”

Conversation gradually stopped.

Chronies looked across them. “The next stage will continue your transfer to Asteria.”

The atmosphere changed immediately. Excitement over Classes and Blessings weakened beneath the reminder of what still waited ahead.

They were not returning to Japan.

Akari lowered her eyes. One student began crying quietly. Daiki moved closer to several classmates. Junpei stopped joking.

Renjiro remained near the edge of the group. His attention turned inward.

There were new structures inside him now. Many of them. He could feel an unfamiliar depth beneath his ordinary physical senses. Energy existed there. So did the unopened storage space, the creation framework, the mutable identity layer and the Status mask.

Renjiro touched none of them. Testing could wait until he had privacy.

Chronies continued. “The adaptations integrated into your bodies will allow you to survive Asteria's environment and interact with its magical laws. Language comprehension has also been included. You will understand the primary spoken language used in the region where you are arriving.”

Junpei raised his hand.

Chronies looked toward him. “Yes?”

“Can we read it too?”

“Basic written comprehension will be available. More complex scripts will still require learning.”

Junpei nodded with unexpected seriousness. “Good.”

Mika looked suspicious. “Why is that the question you care about?”

“Menus.”

Mika stared.

Junpei lifted both hands. “Food is important.”

For once, Renjiro agreed. Silently.

Chronies continued.

“The nation awaiting your arrival is the Holy Empire of Valentia.”

Renjiro stored the name.

Valentia.

“They will know that their summoning succeeded,” Chronies said. “They will not know that I intercepted the transfer.”

Renjiro's attention sharpened. That mattered.

Shizuka recognized the implication too. “So they'll think everything that happens next is part of their ritual?”

“Yes.”

“Will they know what Classes everyone received?”

“Not automatically.” Chronies' expression cooled slightly. “But they possess methods of appraisal.”

Exactly what Renjiro had expected. The Status mask existed for that reason.

Shizuka looked at the students around her. “What should we tell them?”

Chronies did not answer immediately.

Renjiro watched her. She could have told them to trust Valentia. She did not.

“I cannot make that decision for you.”

Daiki frowned. “You're a Goddess.”

“Yes.”

“Can't you tell us whether they're good people?”

Chronies' golden eyes settled on him.

“A nation is not one person.”

Daiki fell silent.

“Some people in Valentia may help you,” Chronies continued. “Some may fear you. Some may admire you. Others may see you as weapons, resources or opportunities.”

Her tone remained calm. “You must judge individuals by what they do.”

Renjiro approved. Not emotionally. Logically.

Chronies looked across the group one final time.

“I am sorry this happened to you.”

Shizuka's expression softened. Only slightly.

“Will we see you again?”

Chronies paused. “Possibly.”

Not a promise. Good.

Golden light began gathering beneath Class 3-B. A summoning circle far larger than any of the integration circles formed beneath the group.

Students instinctively moved closer together. Shizuka immediately began counting again.

“Stay where I can see you.”

Daiki helped direct the others. “Everyone together.”

Renjiro remained where he was until the expanding circle reached beneath his feet. There was no practical advantage in crowding toward the centre.

Reina stood several metres to his right. Junpei and Mika were farther ahead, while Akari remained near Shizuka.

Chronies stayed outside the circle.

The white space trembled.

Pressure gathered around Renjiro's body. His new senses reacted instantly—spatial distortion, energy movement, layer separation.

He understood none of it well enough to trust an interpretation. Not yet.

Divine Body handled the transfer pressure without any obvious difficulty. No nausea appeared. No pain. No instability.

Renjiro looked toward Chronies.

For a moment, her golden eyes met his.

Something in her expression had changed. Not accusation. Not recognition. A question.

Renjiro gave her nothing.

The light rose.

White swallowed everything.

✦ ✦ ✦

Chronies remained alone.

Silence returned to the Divine Intermediate Space as the transfer route closed. Earth's connection disappeared. Asteria's stabilized.

Thirty-one souls had passed through safely.

Chronies slowly lowered her hands.

For several seconds, she did nothing.

Then her eyes moved toward the place where Kurogane Renjiro's integration circle had existed.

A golden panel appeared before her.

Integration records.

Chronies opened the first.

Kanzaki Daiki. Clean.

Tachibana Akari. Clean.

Shirakawa Reina. Clean.

Takahashi Shizuka. Clean.

Then—Kurogane Renjiro.

Chronies opened the summary.

No unauthorized external access. No broken authentication. No failed integrity verification. No rejected final write. No persistent foreign process.

Every major check returned valid.

That was the problem.

Chronies opened the reconciliation history. The record expanded, and continued expanding.

The history was enormous compared with any other integration from Class 3-B: compatibility corrections, adaptive rewrites, normalization, further reconciliation and successful verification.

All of it had been authorized through the integration workflow she herself had opened.

Chronies selected one branch.

The System returned a valid reconciliation signature.

Another. Valid.

A third. Valid.

Nothing identified intrusion. Nothing identified attack. Nothing suggested an administrator breach.

Yet the pattern was wrong. Not wrong enough to fail. Wrong enough to feel deliberate.

“Kurogane Renjiro...”

His name remained on the panel.

Chronies attempted a deeper reconstruction.

The System processed the request, then returned an incomplete result.

Not blocked. Not erased. The finalized reconciliation output simply could not be reconstructed into one clean conventional progression.

Chronies became very still.

She did not know what had happened. Not yet. But something had happened, and somehow it had happened through a process that trusted itself.

Chronies closed the record.

TRANSFER COMPLETE

DESTINATION: ASTERIA

STATE: HOLY EMPIRE OF VALENTIA

She looked at the words, then toward the empty space where the students had stood.

For the first time in a very long time, the Goddess of Fate and System Administration had a question her own System could not answer immediately.

She disliked that. Immensely.

✦ ✦ ✦

Stone.

That was the first thing Renjiro felt beneath his shoes.

Real stone. Visible this time.

Cold air entered his lungs as voices erupted around him and the transfer light began fading.

Renjiro opened his eyes.

A massive circular chamber surrounded Class 3-B. Tall stone pillars supported a ceiling several floors high. Banners hung between them, embroidered with symbols he did not recognize. Armoured soldiers stood beyond the summoning formation while robed men and women occupied positions beside crystals embedded into the floor.

At least forty people waited outside the circle.

Some looked relieved. Others stared in open amazement. And several looked hungry—not physically, but with expectation.

Renjiro knew the expression.

Shizuka moved immediately. “Everyone!”

Her students responded to her voice. Daiki turned toward the soldiers. Akari looked overwhelmed. Junpei whispered something to Mika, who answered without taking her eyes off the room.

Reina was scanning the chamber—entrances, guards, weapons, distances.

Good.

Renjiro did the same.

One crystal structure near the centre of the chamber was significantly larger than the rest.

His attention settled on it.

Something changed behind his eyes.

The world sharpened.

A translucent overlay appeared.

Renjiro went still internally.

STATUS CRYSTAL

Function: Soul Profile Observation

Authority: Limited

Primary Use: Job, Level, Attribute and Skill Detection

Detection Depth: Insufficient for Protected Higher-Order Soul Structures

Renjiro stared at the information.

He had not consciously activated anything. The data had appeared the moment he focused closely enough.

Another designation surfaced at the edge of his awareness.

APPRAISAL EYES

One of the ocular functions integrated beneath Divine Body.

Useful. Very useful.

Renjiro dismissed the information. The overlay vanished.

He did not immediately test Appraisal Eyes on another person. Not here. Not now.

A man wearing ceremonial robes stepped forward. His smile was wide. Too wide.

“Heroes.”

The word echoed through the chamber.

Several students stiffened.

The man spread both arms.

“Welcome to the Holy Empire of Valentia.”

Renjiro looked once more toward the Status Crystal.

Limited authority. Insufficient detection depth.

Perfect.

Beneath the outer layer of his soul, the masking script translated its false profile into the native schema the artifact expected.

RENJIRO KUROGANE

JOB: UNSKILLED CIVILIAN

SECONDARY APTITUDE: FARMER

LEVEL: 1

HP: 50

MP: 10

SKILLS: NONE

EVALUATION: TRASH / UNUSABLE COMPONENT

Something inside Renjiro settled. Good.

Valentia wanted Heroes. Renjiro intended to give them one useless civilian. Then he wanted to be left alone.
