Ivory

Two fat teardrops dropped on the ground and I sniffed, angrily scrubbing it off as my stomach grumbled loudly.

I was about to resume my scrubbing when I saw two pristine shoes in my line of sight.Full novel: The Cursed Alpha King’s Forced Bride — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

I stiffened, my spine going straight cause I hadn’t heard anyone approaching.

I glanced up tentatively, a breath catching in my throat at the stranger from yesterdays breakfast.

The king’s brother.

He was in casual clothes but he still looked hot as hell in it.

His eyes slowly raked over me, and my face instantly flushed in embarrassment because I was covered in dirt and right here on the ground.

“Why are you cleaning? Are you supposed to be doing this?”

He questioned, sounding confused and my face flamed even more, especially when I hurriedly tried standing up, only to end him falling back on my knees from being too weak from hunger.

His eyes widened and he reached out to steady me.

“I’m fine.” I said as I held a hand up, wishing I could die from shame right now.

“And you should probably leave. I’m still busy…”

“C’mon, ivory.” I went still when he called my name, my stomach fluttering at the fierceness there for some reason.

I swallowed awkwardly, blinking up at him as he crouched in front of me.

“Why are you doing this?” He gestured around us, his brows furrowed.

“Is this violet’s doing?”

When I remained silent, his eyes widened, he swore.

“That fucking bitch…”

He was about to storm off, to most likely go start up some shit, but I clutched his hand before I could stop myself, my eyes widening in panic.

“Please no, no, d- don’t cause any trouble.” I cried out.

While I feel very flattered because he hadn’t even hesitated to try going to defend me, I had a feeling that was just going to worsen my situation in Violet’s arms.

And I was in enough trouble as it is.

He looked angry now, which genuinely surprised me. Enjoying the story? Read on at g.com.

“Are you sure?” His gaze raked over me again.

My face flamed again as I nodded.

I knew I looked a mess right now, with sweat and dirt over my face and my entire dress caked with dirt.

“Will you have dinner with me tonight then? I know you’re starving, it’s in your eyes.” He finally spoke, his eyes boring into mine.

I swallowed hard, a denial already at the tip of my tongue just so I’d save my pride.

But then my stomach growled loudly.

“Y- that’s not…” I mumbled awkwardly while he arched a brow, making no move to leave until I sighed loudly.

“Okay, I’ll have dinner with you… after I finish this and freshen up.”

It took me almost two hours before the maids reluntantly declared that I could go have dinner.

And by then, I had cleaned the halls for more times, and one of them claimed they freed me just cause I looked like I was on the verge of passing out.

As I stumbled to my bedroom, I wondered why they had so much hatred in their hearts.

Was it because Violet treats them horribly, so they in turn, are being this vile to me?

After showering fast and changing, I rushed to the kitchen to find something to eat, cause I already decided to have dinner by myself tonight and see that stranger some other time, cause I’d undoubtedly be unable to eat like a lady in his presence due to how famished I presently feel.

However, on getting to the kitchen, I was told all the food was finished.

I wasn’t sure I believed them, but there was nothing I could do.

So, reluctantly, I dragged myself over to the locs thinking where that stranger had invited me to come have dinner with him at.

I stepped out of the inside of the palace for the first time today, breathing in the fresh air, and then I made my way to the location which was given to me by the stranger.

It wasn’t hard to find, cause it was the garden, and I sighted him almost immediately.

Guards bowed at me as I passed them, which was hilarious to me, cause if only they knew how much suffering I just faced in the hands of the maids moments ago.

I have a feeling the entire palace would soon be aware of the fact that I was nothing but a fake Luna once gossip from the maids fully spreads, then they also won’t bother showing me any kind of respect.

As soon as I stepped into the garden, the stranger noticed my presence and his handsome face lit up as he approached me.

“I almost thought you weren’t gonna show up any more.” He murmured easily while helping me into a seat by the table overflowing with food that made my stomach growl to my utter mortification.

“Thank you for… this.” I breathed out awkwardly, ducking my head a little but he huffed and waved me off.

“Please help yourself and don’t be shy. I love when women actually eat.”

“What’s your name?” I asked after the hunger seemed to have calmed down significantly.

“It’s Ezra.” He revealed easily, his back against his seat as he leisuly sipped his drink, his eyes closely watching me.

My face flushed a little for some reason.

“That’s uh, that’s a nice name and thank you for this again. I truly appreciate.”

He leaned forward this time.

“This is truly nothing and I should be thanking you, for gracing me with your beauty tonight. The stars are weeping from jealousy right now cause you’re out here.”

I averted my gaze, my chest feeling a little warm at those words.

But doubt was also clinging to me cause it felt like it’s was just flattering me.

“Thank you, Ezra. You’re too kind to me, the first person to show me kindness since I got here.” I blurted out and his eyes widened for a moment.

“Really?” He sounded shocked and then he let out a bashful grin.

“That just made me feel happy.”

I let out a small huff and took a sip of my wine, wondering why I even admitted that.

“I really do want to get to know you, ivory.” His words pulled me back to the present and my eyes widened a little in surprise.

He looked serious as he continued, his voice easy and soft.

“I had wanted to, from that first morning I saw you. Imagine my shock on realizing you’re my brother’s bride.”

I let out an awkward laugh.

“I… I was surprised too, to find out you were his brother.” I revealed and he laughed as well.

“I know, right? And he got so mad over nothing at the wedding. He’s always too dramatic.”

I bit my bottom lip, not daring to speak against alpha Auden.

Ezra might be fearless since they’re brothers but that doesn’t apply to me.

“So…” he began as he leaned forward, his hands on the table now, and his eyes locked with mine.

“Would you give me the chance to… get to know you better?”
