Ivory
A low groan left my mouth as soon as I drifted back into consciousness and I winced, pain rushing into my entire body like needles.
My throat felt dry like sand, and it felt like I got ran over by a truck.
I struggled to sit up, my eyes still feeling glued close until I tried harder to get it open.
“Madame Anabel!” I gasped out in shock once my eyes open and I realized I was in somewhere that resembled a hospital, with an IV hooked to my veins.
Right beside my bed stood Anabel who quickly snatched her hand away from my chest area, which almost looked like it was glowing a warm bright color for a fleeting moment.
Or perhaps I was just seeing things.
“You’re awake, good.” She gritted out, her voice and eyes hard as she looked me up and down, disapproval starkly painted over her face.
“W- what happened?” I croaked out, wincing at how it hurt to speak or move.
As soon as I managed to sit up, memories rushed into my head at once, of me interrupting the king’s meeting, him refusing to believe me and then punishing me.
“You foolish child. Why did you ever think it was a wise thing to oppose violet?” Madame Anabel sounded almost angry as she gritted those words out.
She was scowling at me, her hands fisted at her sides.
Was she also blaming me for this?
Did I really know that the king was gonna claim that I was lying?
If I had known, I certainly wouldn’t have bothered him.
Who even brought me here after I fainted?
I focused on madame Anabel again, opening my mouth to tell her that I didn’t even do anything, but the door suddenly got ripped open.
Sandalwood scent suddenly filled the air and I knew who it was before I glanced sideways.
alpha Auden.
And heavens, he was furious.
A gasp caught in my throat, my heart slamming hard against my ribs as I blinked at him.
His face was set in a hard glare and he was staring at me with a look almost murderoos.

Is he here to kill me now?
All because I interrupted his meeting and embarrassed him?
Dramatic much?
He stalked forward at that moment and a cry of fear rippled from my throat.
Madame Anabel looked almost lost, her eyes quickly briefly darting between us before she stepped forward fast, her hands clasped in front of her.
“Your majesty, she’s woken up.” Madame Anabel spoke, her voice tense.
The alpha didn’t spare her a glance.
“Leave, Anabel.”
It was a low growl but it rattled the roof.
I almost screamed from fear, the panic within me worsening as soon as Anabel hurried out without another word, the door closing after her, leaving me here with this… monster.
He finally stopped by my bed, his eyes blazing with rage as he barked.
“Is it true? You worked in the department for woman slaves back in your pack?”
I tentatively nodded, and at once, another growl left his mouth, making me flinch hard.
“So you’re just like the rest of them??” He roared and I cried out in fear, crawling back in the bed and wishing I could disappear into thin air.
Nothing made sense to me right now and I keep racking my head for a reason why he could be mad about that.
“I… I don’t understand—” I began and be let out a booming laugh, one which shook up my entire insides.
“You’re just as worst as your father, as worst as that bastard Jaden. How the hell didn’t I see through you?” He roared, his eyes flashing.
I shook my head desperately.
Nothing was still making sense to me right now.
“So you willingly send out powerless women to become slave slaves in brothels, auctions and the likes? And you still have the audacity to look confused?”
I gasped in shock, my jaw dropping open.
“W- what? That’s not true!”
What was he saying?
All those people in the slaves department back in our packs are never forced into that kind of slavery.
They only had to work as maids to pay off debts and the likes! Get faster updates on g.com.
He let out another sickening laugh, slowly approaching me and making me press my back tightly against the headboard.
“It’s not? Isn’t that still the department from which a maiden gets sent to me every three years as a tribute? Huh?” He questioned lowly and I gasped, my eyes widening again as I shook my head hard.
“That’s not true. My father said those maidena were gotten from another packs and that they were paid handsomely when I asked!” I cried out and now his eyes narrowed dangerously.
“Still shifting the blame after literally being caught in the act? There’s no other packs in this situation and every maiden sent to me as a tribute are never paid handsomely before hand. They’re all brought here against their will, and that includes the ones from the same department you worked in.”
He continued, his voice darker.
“And you worked there, and supported such a Bavaria.
Tell me, doesn’t that make you a monster?
I blinked slowly, my head reeling hard while feeling like I just got dipped in ice water.
What he was saying made no sense.
It’s not true and I refuse to believe it.
I even once asked Jaden about it and he assured me the maiden being sent off are very willing and eager maidens.
Could it be that I was lied to this whole time?
Oh my goodness…
Bile rose in my throat and I suddenly felt sick to my stomach, my stomach retching hard.
Auden looked downright murderoos when I blinked up at him again, making me shocked all over again.
If what he just said is true, why does he look like he actually care about those innocent women?
Those same women who all met their ends in his hands.
If anyone should be mad here, it’s me, not the other way around.
“I… if what you said is true, I really had no idea. I was in the lowest tier of that department.” I breathed and by the way Auden’s face twisted, it looked like I I just worsened my own situation.
“Still trying to lie again?” He closed the distance between us now, grasping my throat in a tight grip and the scream I was about to let out got stuck in my throat.
“I’ll never believe any of your lies again. It ends here. Your innocent act is over. You’re just as worse as those monsters in your pack and it’s high time I start treating you like one.”
He growled right in my face and my stomach tightened with so much fear and nerves, I wonder how it didn’t explode.
