The Little Merman in the Apocalypse 15
The Mutated Octopus’s eight tentacles were long and strong.
Covered with suckers and sharp claws, they could both grasp prey and swim swiftly through the water.
Its mouth was wide and curved, filled with sharp teeth that sent shivers down one’s spine.
The thin metal carriage was easily torn to pieces by the creature, and everyone was scrambling to escape.
Su Luo accidentally knocked his knee, covering his mouth to stifle a cry of pain.
He held his breath, knowing it was too late to run.
He could only hide behind the overturned pickup truck, hoping the octopus wouldn’t notice him.
The only sounds were the painful cries of the crowd, and the creature was nowhere to be seen.
Wrapped in a thick cotton coat, the boy clenched his fingers tightly, not daring to move.
Su Luo crouched on the dirty ground, peering through the gap in the tires.
The coast was clear ahead, and Sister Zhao was just twenty meters away, searching for him.
Just as he was about to respond, he felt something.
Time seemed to freeze…
He stiffly turned his head, locking eyes with the enormous head outside the bridge railing.
It was a chilling gaze, full of wildness and a sick obsession.
Su Luo’s face turned pale, maintaining his half-crouched position under the car.
The Mutated Octopus was excited, its eight tentacles quivering with anticipation.
Yet it carefully avoided the boy’s position, enclosing him within its territory.
The creature’s massive size made the boy seem insignificant, as if a single tentacle could squash him flat.
Su Luo’s pale face made his reddened eyes stand out even more, as he curled up into a small ball, trembling with fear, unable to move.
His palm scraped against the raised bricks of the bridge, oozing bright red droplets of blood.
In extreme fear, Su Luo could only bury his face in his coat collar, silently comforting himself.
“You can’t see me, you can’t see me…”
The Mutated Octopus gleefully smashed the ice, unaware of how terrifying its power was.
It uttered strange murmurs.
“Goo… lulu.”
Realizing Su Luo couldn’t understand, it extended the tip of a small tentacle to poke the boy, who was frozen like a statue.
Even though it used only 0.001 of its strength, Su Luo toppled over like a sesame ball being poked.
“Ugh…”
The Mutated Octopus’s massive black-and-white eyes blinked erratically, flustered and angry.
The meter-thick ice shattered completely, and the survivors who had fled were suddenly tossed into the water, unharmed but shivering from the cold.
“Help, I can’t swim!”
The Mutated Octopus had no intention of killing them, merely venting its anger.
“Bang!”
A bullet struck its head, sinking into the soft flesh without causing any harm.
The octopus turned its angry gaze towards the shooter at the end of the bridge, its body halting its charge for revenge.
It stared at the boy, who was covering his ears.
Su Luo curled himself into a tight ball.
The Mutated Octopus withdrew its angry gaze, awkwardly trying to comfort him, but not knowing how.
Its size was too great, risking harm to the boy with any careless move.
Qi Yu frowned, “…Doesn’t work, huh?”
At that moment.
The boy sat on the soft surface of the tentacle, several meters above the ground.
He was lifted by the Mutated Octopus, the skin beneath his hands elastic yet terrifying.
“You… you won’t eat me, right? I’m dirty and smelly, not tasty at all.”
Su Luo assumed the creature was attacking the vehicles in search of food.
The octopus understood the boy’s words, shaking its head in response—you are neither dirty nor smelly, you smell sweet.
Due to a communication barrier.
Su Luo thought it was rejecting his plea, believing he was about to be devoured.
So he gritted his teeth and pulled out the small handgun from his pocket.
“You better let me go, or I’ll shoot!”
A firm and fierce threat.
The boy’s frozen fingers tightly gripped the gun’s handle.
But with the octopus’s tentacle swaying, he couldn’t aim properly, growing anxious.
His small face was as pale as a sheet, tears streaming down his chin.
The creature extended a tentacle to the gun’s muzzle, murmuring “hululu.”
Unclear what it meant.
Seeing no reaction from Su Luo, it brought its head closer—go ahead, shoot, then come back with me, back to the deep sea.
The boy couldn’t comprehend the creature’s intentions, thinking it was unafraid of the gun’s power.
“I… I really will shoot, I’m not joking.”
The octopus nudged closer.
Its touch left droplets of water on his face, cold and icy, nearly causing him to fall.
Finally, it stopped nudging Su Luo, merely tilting its terrifying round head, quietly waiting for the boy to shoot.
Even though the small handgun wouldn’t even tickle it.
Beneath the shattered ice, the deep, unfathomable waters seemed to hide some unknown danger.
Suddenly.
A shadow darted from afar, creating ripples on the water’s surface.
The shadow traced a long arc beneath the frozen lake, ominous and eerie.
What was it?
Fear spread like a cold chill, seeping into the hearts of everyone present.
The giant Mutated Octopus suddenly let out a piercing scream, startling those around it.
In pain, it thrashed its tentacles against the bridge, causing the already damaged structure to collapse completely.
Su Luo clung tightly to the octopus’s suckers to avoid falling.
The situation spiraled out of control.
Finally climbing out of the lake, the survivors, soaked and shivering, couldn’t hold back any longer.
“Brother Qi, let’s go, the creature’s not after us anyway.”
Others agreed.
“Yeah, staying here is a waste of time, better to head to Qingzhou Hospital and prepare the potion needed for the quest.”
Sister Zhao, having quickly bandaged her injured arm, was still determined.
“Give me the gun, you all go ahead, don’t worry about me.”
She wanted to stay behind to save Su Luo.
But Qi Yu signaled, and a few men forcibly took her away.
“Not worth it for a pretty vase.”
“Retreat.”
Pei Yue didn’t get in the car, instead watching the interaction between the boy and the Mutated Octopus thoughtfully.
The creature had never intended to harm Su Luo from the start.
Two of the octopus’s eight tentacles, lifted from the water, were torn off.
Was there something even more terrifying in the water?
At this moment, Su Luo could only cling to the octopus’s tentacle to avoid falling into the deep lake.
His heart pounded wildly in his chest, “Thump… thump… thump.”
The Mutated Octopus even tried to crawl ashore, willingly abandoning its territory in the water to flee.
But a long knife stabbed into its tentacle, pinning it to the ground.
Pei Yue blocked the Mutated Octopus’s path.
The boy was jostled in its tentacle, feeling nauseous.
The calm lake surface rippled again, and Su Luo’s gaze unexpectedly met a pair of luminous eyes.
Breath stopped.
The man’s gaze was as sharp as a leopard’s, keen and ruthless, holding a torn octopus tentacle in his hand.
A307 was like the embodiment of the ocean, a blend of power, majesty, mystery, and danger.
The shimmering light on the lake played over his wet, dark hair and pale skin.
It outlined his muscular contours and body lines with a fierce intensity, brimming with explosive power.
Pei Yue and he locked eyes silently, both wearing expressions of cold determination.
A battle was about to unfold.
