By all logic, a person who first inhaled a certain amount of knockout drug, then was stunned by an electric shock, had their hands and feet tied with rope, and was locked inside a metal box—there was no way they could have escaped.

Yet the woman before them was standing right there, perfectly fine.Full novel: The Darling Little Fox Turns 300 — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

How was this possible?

Their gazes instinctively drifted toward the metal box. The lock had somehow been opened and was lying on the ground.

The two brothers exchanged a glance and shook their heads in unison.

As soon as they had walked in, they had been so focused on counting the money that they hadn’t paid any attention to the person in the box.

Before the brothers could react, Yun Li kicked one of them to the ground, pinned them both down, and beat them until their faces were swollen and bruised, almost unrecognizable.

They never expected the delicate little beauty to be so ruthless.

The brothers were beaten to the point of tears, begging loudly, “Please, Grandma, stop! Stop! You’ll kill us!”

If she weren’t in the human realm and couldn’t do bad things, Yun Li would have loved to finish off these two villains.

Yun Li planted her foot on the chest of the one called “Boss.” “I’m asking you: who hired you to kidnap me?”

“I don’t know!”

“You don’t know? It seems I need to make you suffer a bit before you’re willing to talk.”

Yun Li had recently watched a period drama where the officials always had to beat the criminals a few times before they would honestly confess.

She didn’t have a whip here, but there were other things she could use as a substitute.

The stun gun they had used to ambush her was lying on the table. Yun Li picked it up and walked over, crouching down. “Want to try how this feels?”

She had experienced it twice herself, and it wasn’t a pleasant feeling.

She brought the stun gun closer and closer to the man’s neck. The man immediately began crying and begging for mercy.

“Grandma, please, have mercy and let me go. I really don’t know!”

“Whether you know or not, we’ll have to give you a little shock to find out.” Yun Li gave him a sweet smile. “If one shock doesn’t work, we’ll try a few more. I believe you’ll eventually tell the truth.”

“I really— Ah!”

The man still tried to act tough and say he didn’t know, but before he could finish his sentence, Yun Li jabbed the stun gun into him.

The man let out a miserable scream. An ordinary person couldn’t withstand that voltage. His body convulsed, and he passed out.

Yun Li patted his face disdainfully. “He passed out just like that? Is he playing dead?”

That was entirely possible!

To make sure he was really unconscious, Yun Li pressed the stun gun to the man’s arm again. His body convulsed once more, but he made no sound.

She sighed helplessly. “Fine, he’s really out. Useless!”

But fortunately, there was still the other one. She turned her gaze to the younger brother. “Do you want to try how this feels too?”

The younger brother was terrified. This woman was absolutely horrifying.

He couldn’t bear to imagine getting shocked himself. He shook his head in panic. “I’ll talk! I’ll talk!”

“You’re giving in so early? No fun at all.”

Yun Li pouted in dissatisfaction. “Go on then, tell me who hired you.”

“It was a woman!”

“Name? Appearance?”

“We don’t know that!”

“You don’t know?” Yun Li tilted her head, looking at him innocently. “I think you need a little shock too. Then you’ll tell the truth.”

Her smile was radiant, her voice sweet—as if the one saying these words were some wicked old witch.

“I’m serious! We’ve never met her either. She contacted us by phone. She told us to kidnap you when we had the chance, and in return, she would pay us a large sum of money.”

“Actually, we’ve been lurking around your doorstep for half a month, but we never found an opportunity. Only today did we see you alone, so we knocked you out. Grandma, we know we were wrong. Please, in your great mercy, let us go.”

Yun Li sighed. It seemed he was telling the truth. She wouldn’t be able to get any more information out of him.

She had been shocked once, so they weren’t getting away either.

The little fox, who repaid every wrong she suffered, showed no mercy and shocked the remaining man unconscious as well.

She looked at the two big men on the floor, cast a spell to tie their hands and feet with the rope, and locked them inside the iron cage.

To deal with humans, she had to use human methods.

She took the two men to the police station gate and stuck a note on the iron cage. On it were a few crookedly written in big characters: “They are kidnappers!”

As for the two men’s money, Yun Li naturally kept it.

Her bag looked very unremarkable, but in fact, it was also a treasure—a convenient carry-along pouch that could hold a lot, expanding and shrinking as needed.

It could store an enormous number of things. Yun Li stuffed all the money into it and headed back.

When she got close to the Fu residence, Yun Li suddenly remembered that she had run away from home.

It was already the middle of the night. Yun Li stood at the front gate, gazing at Fu Qingheng’s room from a distance.

The room was dark inside; he must have already fallen asleep.

Her poop scooper really didn’t worry about her at all.

Yun Li bit her lip. If she went back now, wouldn’t that make her look like she had no pride?

But the thought of leaving her poop scooper—of having no soft, comfortable bed, no chicken legs, no milk, no roasted sausages—made her want to cry.

What did dignity matter to a fox?

Yun Li walked to a place without surveillance cameras and transformed into her original form—a nine-tailed fox.

The little white fox, carrying nine fluffy tails, leaped into a nearby bush in the darkness.

When she emerged, the nine tails had become one.

Her fluffy, bushy tail swayed back and forth behind her. Yun Li swaggered into the Fu family’s courtyard.

When she passed by the pond, she easily leaped onto its edge.

Some of the silly fish beneath the water were asleep; others, seeing something on the surface, thought someone was feeding them and swam up, wagging their tails.

Yun Li extended her fox paw, drooling at the sight of these silly fish.

If her poop scooper hadn’t forbidden her from catching fish, she would have snatched them up and roasted them long ago.

Oh well. She’d let them off today.

She looked up at Fu Qingheng’s room. She had something important to do.

The little fox wagged her tail, climbed up a nearby tree, and with a powerful leap, landed on the balcony.

She licked her fox paw, raised her little head, and walked to the door, scratching at the glass door with her claws.

There was no response. Was her voice too soft? Had her poop scooper fallen too deeply asleep to hear her?

She raised her paw again and knocked harder, trying to wake the person inside.

But Fu Qingheng hadn’t been able to fall asleep at all.

That woman Yun Li had left without a second thought. He had searched everywhere nearby but couldn’t find her. He had no idea where she’d gone.

She was gone—one less burden for him. He should have been happy, but somewhere in his heart, it felt like an empty space had opened up, aching terribly.

She didn’t exactly have nowhere to go. She had a bunch of shady friends—she was probably at a bar or a KTV right now.

The more Fu Qingheng thought about it, the less he could sleep. At the bar, there was that pretty boy Zhou Jing; at the KTV, there were others.

It was as if he had fallen under a spell. Every time he closed his eyes, all he saw was Yun Li.

Then, from the balcony, he heard a noise.

It sounded like someone knocking on the door. His first thought was Yun Li.

Fu Qingheng immediately got up and pulled open the curtain. But when he saw no one there, the smile at the corner of his mouth faded, and his mood grew even heavier.

If she came back, he wouldn’t be angry anymore. He would absolutely comfort her.

If she wanted chicken legs, he’d buy her chicken legs. If she wanted roasted fish, he’d catch fish and roast them for her…

He must be missing Yun Li so much that he was having auditory hallucinations.

She had run away from home. How could she possibly be here?

Disappointed, Fu Qingheng pulled the curtain shut.

Yun Li was startled. He had finally opened the curtain, and then he closed it again?

The door hadn’t opened—she still hadn’t gotten in!

Yun Li scratched hard at the glass door, making a noise.

This time, the sound was clear and unmistakable. It couldn’t be his imagination.

He pulled open the curtain again and looked out at the balcony.

There was indeed no one outside but there was a small puppy.

Fu Qingheng frowned. How did a puppy end up on the balcony?

The little fox, mistaken for a puppy, scratched desperately at the glass door, almost as if it wanted to shout in human language: “Let me in!”

The little puppy scratched frantically, clearly wanting to come inside. Its big, dark puppy-dog eyes looked up at him, pitiful beyond measure.

Fu Qingheng opened the glass door. The little fox immediately darted inside, wagging its tail and rubbing its body against the man’s feet.

The vast majority of people couldn’t resist something fluffy, especially a little fox like Yun Li.

When she transformed into her original form, everyone wanted to touch her and hold her.

Yun Li rubbed against Fu Qingheng, hoping he would hold her too.

Fu Qingheng was a germophobe. It wasn’t that he disliked fluffy animals—he just hated all the fur that got everywhere, sticking to his clothes.

Fu Qingheng lifted his foot and stepped back several paces.

Little Yun Li looked up at him in confusion, not understanding why her poop scooper wouldn’t hold her. Was she not cute enough?

She rubbed against his other foot and let out a little cry at Fu Qingheng.

Why won’t you hold me?

Her cry was soft and high-pitched, not quite sounding like a puppy’s bark.

Fu Qingheng stepped back again, and the little fox followed him.

Was she determined to latch onto him?

A random dog appearing in the middle of the night was a bit of a dilemma.

He bent down. Yun Li craned her neck to look at him, thinking her poop scooper was finally going to pick her up.

She closed her eyes, ready to be held in her poop scooper’s arms.

It had been so long, and she had never been petted by Fu Qingheng!

The next second, the back of her neck was suddenly grabbed, and she was lifted into the air, all four paws off the ground.

Yun Li opened her eyes and found herself dangling mid-air. She let out a series of whines and struggled, her four little paws flailing wildly.

But her legs were too short. Even as she wriggled her fluffy body, she couldn’t manage to get down.

“Where did you come from?” Fu Qingheng glanced toward the balcony. The second-floor balcony wasn’t that high, but there was no way a puppy this small could have climbed up.

She cried out even louder.

Poop scooper, put me down!

Fu Qingheng couldn’t understand fox language. He carried the little fox downstairs by the scruff of its neck.

Yang Qing hadn’t gone to sleep yet. He was still worried about Yun Li, not knowing where she had run off to.

Suddenly, he heard a knock on the door. He quickly got up and opened it.

“Young Master, did you find Yun Li?”

As he spoke, a little fox cub appeared before his eyes.

Yang Qing was stunned. “Young Master, where did you get this little… puppy?”

He knew Fu Qingheng all too well. Because he hated the mess of animal fur, he had never kept cats or dogs.

This little puppy looked very young—probably only about two months old.

Yun Li, being held by the scruff of her neck, cried out unhappily at Yang Qing and flailed her limbs, trying to get down.

She wasn’t a puppy! She was clearly an adorable little fox.

She was so cute—how could he compare her to a dog?

The little fox struggled so violently that Fu Qingheng simply tossed her into Yang Qing’s arms and said disdainfully, “This thing was on the balcony. I don’t know if Yun Li secretly brought it home to raise. You can send it away tomorrow.”

Yun Li was finally being held, but the person holding her wasn’t her poop scooper—it was Yang Qing.

Still, it was much more comfortable than being held by the scruff of the neck.

But when she heard her poop scooper’s words, Yun Li grew anxious again.

She had worked so hard to come back, and now her poop scooper wanted to send her away again?

Yun Li barked angrily at Fu Qingheng twice, gritting her teeth, wishing she could bite two holes in the man’s clothes.

Fu Qingheng left the little puppy behind and turned to go back to his room, where he washed his hands several times.

The balcony door was open. Cold wind blew in, filling the room with a chill.

Fu Qingheng didn’t feel the cold at all. He walked to the edge of the balcony. He had meant to close the door, but his feet carried him to the other side instead, looking into Yun Li’s room.

He remembered the first time he had walked over here, just in time to see Yun Li lying on her back, fast asleep with her little belly exposed. But now the room was dark and empty.

Downstairs, Yang Qing looked at the little puppy and instinctively reached out to pet it a couple of times. The fur was fluffy and felt exceptionally soft against his hand.

“Where did you come from?” Yang Qing muttered to himself, looking at the little fox. “Could Ah Li have really brought this one home?”

The young master had disliked furry animals since childhood. If this poor little puppy were thrown out, it would surely starve to death.

Looking at this adorable little puppy, its fur pure white without a single patch of color, it would probably grow up to be very beautiful.

Yun Li felt a little unhappy after being petted twice.

After all, her poop scooper had just said he wanted to send her away. Her tail drooped and swayed weakly.

It wouldn’t be right to throw the dog out in the middle of the night, so Yang Qing decided to wait until morning to send it away.

He immediately found a cardboard box, lined it with a fluffy blanket, and picked up the little fox. “Alright, you can sleep here tonight.”

Yun Li, placed inside the cardboard box, was shocked. Where was her big bed?

They wanted her to sleep in such a tiny space where she couldn’t even roll around happily? Yun Li hastily jumped out of the cardboard box. She didn’t want to sleep here.

She let out a couple of whines. Yang Qing turned around and saw the little puppy had jumped out. “Why did you come out? Are you hungry?”

Mentioning hunger made Yun Li’s stomach growl in perfect agreement.

Yang Qing thought the little puppy looked pitiful, probably separated from its mother not long ago. He coaxed her, “Come with me. I’ll get you something good to eat.”

Were they chicken legs?

Yun Li was starving. She followed Yang Qing all the way to the kitchen.

Yang Qing poured some milk and put out some minced meat, placing them in front of Yun Li. He patted her head. “Go on, eat up!”

Seeing how thin and small she was, she must have gone hungry for many meals. He also wondered how she had managed to climb up to the second-floor balcony.

Yun Li’s stomach was growling. She eagerly awaited her meal, only to find that the bowl contained milk and minced meat.

And the minced meat was raw! She wasn’t eating that.

Yun Li lifted her head and cried out at Yang Qing in protest: I want chicken legs.

Yang Qing was puzzled as to why she wasn’t eating. There shouldn’t be anything wrong with this food.

He muttered curiously, “Is it possible you used to eat dog food?”

This little puppy was fluffy, looking a bit like a mix between a Samoyed and a regular mutt. Could she have had an owner before and gotten lost?

Dog food?

Yun Li’s fox eyes widened. She was a proper little fox! How could she eat dog food?

The thought that Uncle Yang had mistaken her for a dog made Yun Li so angry that she didn’t even want the milk.

She only wanted chicken legs!

When she left the house this morning, she had seen chicken legs in the refrigerator.

Yun Li stood up against the fridge, pawed at it a couple of times, then turned her head and cried at Yang Qing.

Her meaning was clear: she wanted the chicken legs inside the fridge.

Yang Qing was a bit confused by the little puppy’s behavior, but seeing her pawing insistently at the fridge, he opened it.

He looked down and asked, “You want something else?”

He didn’t expect the little puppy to react, but as soon as he asked, the little puppy at his feet nodded vigorously.

Had this little puppy been trained? She could actually understand human language?

To test his theory, Yang Qing randomly took a fish out of the fridge. “You want this?”

It was fish!

Yun Li’s eyes lit up. She immediately pawed at Yang Qing’s pants leg to show she wanted it.

This little dog really could understand human language.

One fish wasn’t enough to satisfy Yun Li. She also wanted chicken legs.

So she pawed at the fridge again. This time, Yang Qing understood. He took out ingredients one by one and showed them to her. Only when he brought out the chicken legs did little Yun Li excitedly nod.

Yes, those were the chicken legs she had been dreaming of day and night!

Yang Qing put the fish and the chicken legs in her bowl, but Yun Li didn’t eat them.

“You wanted these, so why aren’t you eating?”

Yun Li cried out again: How am I supposed to eat this raw?

Seeing that Yang Qing didn’t understand her meaning, she hurried over to the stove, circled it several times, and cried while looking back at him.

Yang Qing suddenly had a bold thought. “You need it cooked, little one?”

Yun Li nodded vigorously. Uncle Yang was so smart—he understood her right away.

Yang Qing hadn’t expected the young master’s foundling puppy to be so picky—wanting chicken and fish, and cooked at that.

After Yun Li had eaten and drunk her fill, Yang Qing finally felt relieved.

Yun Li looked small, but her appetite was considerable. She quickly finished one fish and the chicken legs, her little belly swelling up.

Yang Qing picked her up. Yun Li didn’t struggle. She let out a satisfied burp and looked at him with confused fox eyes, as if to say: Where are we going?

“Alright, it’s time for you to sleep now.”

Yang Qing walked over to the cardboard box, placed her inside, and patted her head.

“Go to sleep. Tomorrow I’ll take you to find your little owner.”

A puppy this smart must have had an owner.

Yang Qing turned off the light and went back to his room to sleep.

In the middle of the night, after all that trouble cooking chicken and fish, Yang Qing was exhausted. He went straight to bed and fell asleep as soon as he lay down.

The living room was quiet. Yun Li lay on the blanket, stretching her body.

Before she could fully extend herself, her little paws bumped into the cardboard box beside her.

This cardboard box was small and shabby—nothing compared to her soft, big bed.

Yun Li easily jumped out of the cardboard box, glanced toward Yang Qing’s room, then wagged her little tail and climbed up the stairs.

She had originally planned to sleep in her own room, but when she passed by Fu Qingheng’s door, she stopped.

Having grown accustomed to sleeping in her own big bed, she also wanted to know what her poop scooper’s bed felt like.

She wondered if her poop scooper was already asleep.

The little fox was too short. Yun Li had no choice but to transform into her human form, quietly push the door open, and then, with a whoosh, change back into a little fox. She stepped onto the soft carpet and walked inside openly.

Fu Qingheng hadn’t fallen asleep. Hearing the noise at the door, he thought he had simply not closed the door properly when he came in.

He glanced toward the door—it was only open a crack. He couldn’t be bothered to get up and close it. He closed his eyes again, still thinking about Yun Li.

Yun Li thought Fu Qingheng was asleep. She craned her neck to look up at the bed.

But in truth, because her fox body was too short, even standing on her tiptoes with all four paws, she couldn’t see anything on the bed.

For the first time, she hated how short she was!

In a fit of annoyance, Yun Li simply jumped straight onto the bed.

Her poop scooper’s bed was also very big, and the blanket was soft and fluffy. The moment she stepped onto it, her four paws sank into the blanket, leaving only her body above the surface.

Yun Li struggled to move her little paws, walking from the foot of the bed to the headboard, wanting to curl up next to her poop scooper’s head and sleep.

At first, Fu Qingheng felt something jump onto his bed and thought it was his imagination. It wasn’t until that thing walked from the foot of the bed to the headboard and he felt something furry against his face that he opened his eyes abruptly—

And saw Yun Li’s fox face right in front of him.

Huh?

Her poop scooper wasn’t asleep?

Yun Li’s fox eyes widened. She stared blankly at the man, her lifted little paw frozen stiff in midair, unsure what to do.

Her mind raced. Oh no, oh no, oh no!

Her poop scooper had just said he was going to kick her out. Was he going to throw her out right now?

What should she do? What should she do?

In a panic, Yun Li remembered she knew magic.

She quickly blew a breath toward Fu Qingheng, making him fall fast asleep.

Fu Qingheng closed his eyes and indeed fell asleep instantly, motionless.

Yun Li winced in pain but breathed a sigh of relief. Fortunately, she hadn’t slept through the class when her teacher taught this hypnosis spell, or she would have been doomed!

Yun Li curled her little fox body up, nestled against Fu Qingheng’s neck, and covered herself with her tail.

Exhausted from the whole day, she closed her eyes to sleep but then felt a chill.

Why was her poop scooper’s room so cold?

She shrank her body and burrowed deeper under the blanket.

Her poop scooper’s body was very warm. Once Yun Li burrowed in, she didn’t want to come out.

Early the next morning, Yang Qing got up wanting to check on the clever little puppy he had found last night.

He went to the cardboard box and looked inside—it was empty. The little puppy was nowhere to be seen.

Strange. Where had the little puppy gone?

He searched the living room and asked the servants in the house. They all shook their heads, saying they hadn’t seen any little puppy.

Maybe it had gone home.

Yang Qing’s thoughts then turned anxiously to Yun Li. That girl hadn’t come home all night. Where had she gone?

In a fit of anger, Yun Li had run away without even taking her phone, so there was no way to contact her.

Was she never coming back?

He had grown to like Yun Li more and more over the past month. She was such an adorable girl, always calling him “Uncle Yang” sweetly whenever she saw him. Yang Qing truly doted on her like a daughter.

Yang Qing sighed and glanced upstairs. Why wasn’t the young master up yet today?

Didn’t he worry about Yun Li at all?
