Zhao Yan met Le Huan’s clear, piercing gaze and instantly turned pale. He feared she might get angry, think he was a pervert, and leave him.

He had been careful—he hadn’t dared to kiss anywhere else—but lowering his head, he didn’t dare look at her. Desperately, he closed his eyes, silently waiting for Le Huan’s judgment. How had she woken up so quickly after he pressed his forehead to hers?

Le Huan’s timely awakening was thanks to 66. Having read too many novels, 66 had instinctively treated Zhao Yan like a potential danger. Though it had planned to sulk and ignore Le Huan until evening, its sense of justice wouldn’t allow it to stand by. With a loud call, it woke her up.Full novel: The Delicate Heiress Who Transmigrated into the Apocalypse Refuses to Survive — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

“You tried to kiss me secretly?” Le Huan asked, genuinely surprised. Zhao Yan had never dared to take the initiative with her before; managing a secret kiss showed how strongly he had been holding back.

“I’m sorry,” Zhao Yan said, closing his eyes. Words were futile now; he only hoped Le Huan wouldn’t truly think him a pervert and leave.

“If you dare to sneak a kiss on Young Lady, you should be aware of the consequences,” Le Huan said, lifting her nose and looking down at him.

So she was still going to leave him? Was there no room to maneuver? He only liked her too much—why was she so cruel?

A wave of remorse swept over Zhao Yan, clouding his expression.

“Seeing you like this, you know the consequences. From now on, you’ll serve me in every way. If I say east, you don’t go west. That’s for now; more rules will come later.”

Zhao Yan’s role immediately shifted—from caretaker to serving her like a devoted servant—surpassing 66 to become Le Huan’s number one subordinate.

If any other man had been told this, he would have been furious. Yet Zhao Yan smiled broadly, like a drowning man suddenly revived.

Le Huan watched Zhao Yan tidy the table, wash dishes, clean, and do laundry. He always did more than he said—a quality she deeply admired.

He organized the house meticulously, even more thoroughly than Le Huan’s own housekeeper. She thought if she had enough goodwill points, she could take Zhao Yan away…

While Zhao Yan hung clothes in the yard, Wang Ni rushed over with bad news:

“Several newly Mutated Zombies appeared ten kilometers outside the base. Team Leader Zhou’s squad was passing by, and one member got infected. The Research Institute asked us to come discuss countermeasures.”

Newly infected individuals had emerged again. Over the past two years, mutated zombies had been appearing in waves. Ignoring them would make passing squads vulnerable to ambushes.

After finishing the laundry, Zhao Yan instructed Le Huan to stay home safely. If she wanted to visit Wu Lü, she would wait until he returned to take her. He then rushed off to the meeting.

Le Huan didn’t wait for Zhao Yan. She set out with Zhao Xiaoqiang in tow. With 66’s energy, she feared nothing—anyone who dared to bully her would be instantly dealt with.

She and the kitten walked boldly down the street. 66 stayed on high alert. People only dared to sneak glances at Le Huan; no one dared approach, as she looked protected by wealth and influence. Only those seeking death would dare provoke her.

A masked man, apparently from a nearby base squad, noticed Le Huan and whistled suggestively.

Le Huan didn’t like being harassed. She stopped, beckoning him with a finger.

The man raised his eyebrows, his eyes glinting with mischief, and approached.

Le Huan sized him up. He was nearly as tall as Zhao Yan, but she measured herself and figured it was manageable.

“Little beauty, you…”

“Smack!”

Before he could finish, Le Huan slapped his face. The slap, powered by 66’s energy, sounded sharp and rattling.

“Though I’m glad you think I’m pretty, I don’t like you whistling at me. Can you control yourself now?” she asked with a mischievous smile.

66’s eyes, the size of beans, locked onto the man. If he dared touch Le Huan, he would face Lord Six’s wrath. Even Zhao Xiaoqiang trembled in the bag, intimidated by the energy, yet still managed a fierce hiss.

The man was stunned. When he recovered, his eyes filled with shock and anger. “You hit me?!”

“Smack!”

Le Huan struck him again before he could react.

Now the man was enraged. “You’re bold! Do you think I won’t hit you?!”

He reached for her arm—but in the next moment, his body went limp and collapsed.

66 was terrified. The man’s expression had been terrifyingly aggressive, yet Le Huan had dared act first. 66 used energy to knock him out, making it appear to others that the young girl alone had incredible power.

Le Huan saw him on the ground, then stomped on him twice for good measure before casually heading to Wu Lü’s house.

66 observed, noting how adaptable Le Huan was. At first, she had played the helpless role with Zhao Yan, but now, knowing he liked her, she was commanding him. Without energy, she dared not wander freely; with it, she acted fearlessly, slapping anyone she disliked.

They arrived at Wu Lü’s house. Only Wu Lü was home; Wu You had gone to a meeting.

“Ta-da! Sister Lü, I’m here again, and this is Zhao Xiaoqiang!” Le Huan held up the kitten.

Wu Lü was pleased to see her. Due to her personality, many girls avoided her, but Le Huan was lively and adorable. Wu Lü liked her immediately. She also found the kitten’s name unique.

Once Le Huan entered, Wu Lü brought out a new outfit.

“Wow, Sister Lü, you’re amazing! You finished it by noon?”

Wu Lü had crafted a long-sleeved autumn dress in nude pink, sleek and stylish. Matching ribbons could be used for hair. Wu Lü carefully braided Le Huan’s hair.

Le Huan spun in front of the mirror, inspecting the outfit from all angles. She was very pleased. The dress cinched her waist, featured pearl embellishments at the collar, and lace at the cuffs. Wu Lü styled her hair in a princess braid. Le Huan looked stunning and cute.

However, she didn’t have suitable shoes. Wu Lü only designed clothes, not footwear, leaving Le Huan a bit frustrated.

Wu Lü devised a solution: Xiong Gang’s mother made shoes. She often crafted footwear for them. Wu Lü occasionally visited her; the elderly woman couldn’t go out often.

Le Huan immediately decided to visit Xiong Gang’s house. A day without dressing beautifully felt unbearable.

“Then let’s go. I’ll grab some things first,” Wu Lü said, entering the house.

Le Huan saw Wu Lü take out various crystals and processed animal hides—only soft-soled genuine leather with crystals would match the outfit. Wu Lü also grabbed a handgun from the nightstand.

Le Huan raised her eyebrows in surprise. “You carry a handgun too?”

Wu Lü glanced at her, puzzled. “You didn’t bring one? How dare you go out then?”

Le Huan thought to herself: so girls have to carry guns when going out. Zhao Yan never mentioned this; Wu You had made sure her sister was armed.

“You must bring self-defense tools next time. It’s too dangerous otherwise,” Wu Lü said seriously. Le Huan’s beauty made her a target.

“All right, all right, Sister Lü, let’s go to Xiong Gang’s. I’m excited to wear my new shoes!”

Seeing Le Huan’s eagerness, Wu Lü said nothing further, and the two of them left.
